“The first polls that close today will be in two states that traditionally discourage voter participation, Indiana and Kentucky. Polls in the eastern parts of both states at 6PM, making it more difficult for working people to vote.”

This thread has probably been abandoned by now, but your linkage of closings and suppression of the working class vote in IN & KY shouldn’t go unchallenged. Rural folks and farmers, who are up before dawn, vote early. So do most of the working stiffs in my neck of the woods, who vote on their way into work, which, fyi, is also after work for the night shift. You may have wondered why this crowd gets tarred as Limousine LIberals. Now you know.

I have a terrible feeling that Dems are going to, if they haven’t already, morph into Repubs so we will end up with basically a one-party system - Rove’s dream come true. It’ll come down to what it practically is now - a choice between two evils.

That said, I just figured out that if Hillary runs in ‘08 and wins and runs and wins again, we will have TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS running of Bushes and Clintons. Even Smiths and Jones’ would be dreadful for TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS.

(thanks to cbl for the photo and no, it’s not Kobe)

That was my first utterance - “HAH! Kobe and C4C! Jane got him trained well.”

OH-Cuyahoga County: long lines in my precinct at 11:00am, everyone in a good mood, rain didn’t seem to have any effect on turnout, looked like 2004. Hit two other precincts in neighboring towns - same story. Turnout appears high. Heard of trouble elsewhere in Cuyahoga, but didn’t see any.

In MD the repugs, Erlich and Steele, are using “Had Enough” on a voters guide and then mixed themselves with dem candidates>>>>dogs with not decency.

Also Steele had blue bumper stickers with “Steele Democrat”
They have no shame or decency.

I voted without incident but no paper trail.

Apologies if somebody already noted this — no time to read down through this thread — but tradesports has the GOP’s odds of keeping the House down to 16% from 24% just yesterday. Good, good, good news; that site has been (distressingly) accurate in the past.

                127

Kentucky Woman @
23

In Kentucky the Louisville metro area is represented by a not very impressive Anne Northup. Polls show a genuine progressive, John Yarmuth, beating her.

John Yarmuth has a huge progressive following, and he makes ALOT of sense. He’s been the only progressive voice for the longest time. Founder of the Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO). He sold it before he began campaigning and used to have a point / counterpoint radio show with John “I’ll brag on the radio in a national forum about my date’s private parts and other personal issues” Zieglar, now broadcasting in LA.

This vote will turn on the southend of the city, where I was born. Heavily blue collar (Ford hourly workers, UPS hourly workers, large Vietnamese, Russian and Mexican populations), financially conservative (people pay cash for everything), and very involved with their churches. I know these folks, and they’ve only voted R because of the GOP’s embracing the evangelicals / family values / etc. The nice thing is, these folks love their churches, but they prefer their heaven here on earth. Financial and job stability will bring the blue back to Louisville.

I couldn’t agree more. I live in the Highlands section of Louisville and its a given that Yarmuth, who is a very liberal and progressive candidate, will win big in this area. If he can do well enough in the south end with the economic issues and do real strong in the west end and in the progressive center city it should be enough to counter the east end vote for NOrthup. I voted a little after 7 this morning and was already the 72nd voter. Turnout looks high in the city.

I’m in St. Matthews and voted at 9:30. Northup walked in about 10:00 a.m. and voted FAST (straight R, I’m sure). Couldn’t get to her for all of the cameras, etc. Was going to wish her well in her job search. I wanted to tell her Careerbuilder.com was better than Monster.

Louisville is turning BLUE!!!

I guess Anne didn’t care much about all those judicial races that took me a good 20 minutes to fill in on my ballot. I live in Crescent Hill — Crescent Hill Babtist Church is my polling place, and it has been busy all day long. Keeping my fingers crossed…

One thing in our favor — Jefferson Ct. Ky voted for both Gore and Kerry — so voting Democratic around here isn’t a foreign concept.
