Greetings, firepups!!
I am blogging to you live from Tryst coffee house in the Adams Morgan neighborhood in Washington, DC. This is the place that we'll be tomorrow night on CNN for the Big Blogger Election Night Throw-Down. I'm here with Pach, Christy, and Jeralyn Merritt and we're going to do a little round-robin blogging for you kids, but first, this Public Service Announcement.
I'm hearing a lot of heinous stuff about RNC attempts at voter suppression, the kind of stuff we thought we'd left behind in the 50's and 60's, calls to African American voting districts telling people that they will be arrested if they show up to vote, or that they'll need five photo ID's…yeah. Bitchez. Also, we've been hearing all day about the Republican robo-calls.
The election will be going forward tomorrow no matter what. The most important thing is that everyone remain calm and go to the polls. However, if you really need something to do with all that nervous energy, I strongly suggest that you get on the phone tomorrow morning and call radio stations and local TV stations and urge them to put out the message that no one can legally deny any registered voter their chance to vote. We can push back against these tactics, but we have to be smart about it. Go to the polls. Cast your vote. Be a poll watcher, and work for your local GOTV effort, but also, do whatever you can to make sure that the right information is going out over TV and radio. The Evil Bastards of the Reich Wing are not going to go down without a fight, but if anyone in Blogistan knows how to fight, it's us. So, get on it. Be polite. Be friendly. But get on that phone.
And now a word from Christy Hardin Smith:
Christy: We just finished a fun nosh — Pach and I split a cheese and fruit tray, with some brie, gorgonzola, goat cheese rolled in freshly chopped parsley, fig jam, toasted walnuts, smoked gouda, fresh grapes and pear slices and baguette, and a dish of a tasty warm shrimp and crab dip with more baguette. I had a great glass of chenin blanc, and some much-needed water. (Flying makes me very thirsty.) We've got a lovely slice of double chocolate cheesecake to take back to John Amato. I have to say, it's awfully fun to just sit around and shoot the breeze with Jeralyn and Pach and TRex and his friend Scott. And getting to meet TRex in person? Sweeeeet. You know how sometimes you meet someone and it seems like you've known them your whole life? Well, it's kind of like that…except I talk with TRex pretty much every day, so it really is like I've known him forevah.
Wish you guys were all here. Mercifully, the snacks were tasty. And I'm recovering nicely from airport purgatory. Everyone hang in…and I'll see ya in the morning. I'll be the one with the extra large room service carafe of coffee.
And now a word from Pach:
Pach: I don't know how to do this shit on a Mac, and I don't know how I can stay calm as TRex suggests when he keeps putting his hand on my thigh. Ahem. Anyway, I can feel the cosmos alligning, and what we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is a full fledged movement that won't go away. I'm still here in my work duds and I feel the need to disrobe, so they're all pushing me out the door in a hurry. I can't imagine why. So, anyway, I love everybody (except the Liebertrolls), so let's get a good night's sleep, vote, get out the vote, and open up a new chapter come the morrow. It's been a pleasure riding this ride with you all. Wish you were here. (TRex is a groper).
A word from Jeralyn:
Jeralyn: Hi, Firepups! Your hosts have kidnapped me to the Tryst. They are great company. We are totally psyched about blogging this election. TRex and I talked music and I heard all about his prior life. Christy is aglow. Pac is the hometowner of the group, being a gracious guide. I hope you will all tune in tomorrow night to our CNN blogging party, we're going to rock the returns.
TRex: Okay, kids. I need to drag Pach off to a secluded corner and have my way with him. (Don't tell my future husband Howie Klein!) I look forward to talking to you all tomorrow night.
I love being here in Washington. I keep thinking that someday I'd like to live here. It's such a beautiful city and not everyone who lives here is an entitled asshole like Joe Lieberman, really.
I was on my way to meet Christy at Reagan National and it occured to me that even though it feels like we've hung out a million times, we really hadn't ever met in person. I have to tell you, she's even more adorable in person than I expected. I could just sop her up with a biscuit.
Everyone's making "Time to go!" noises, so I have to sign off and post this. I'll check back in from the comments section when I get back to my dad's. Be good, and remember, remain calm. We can't accomplish anything if we're hysterical and overwrought.
We'll probably get some surprises, both good and bad tomorrow night. And some things won't be decided at all and get shunted into run-off races. So, take deep breaths, stay strong, and think of cute fluffy bunnies. AND MAKE SURE AND WATCH US ON CNN!!

RAHR!!! TRex!
The bright side of all this robo calling and vote suppression is that the GOP is conceding that are not competitive if they have to run on the issues and the quality of their candidates.
wow! quite the party!
fitz
Please remain calm: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
But the bunnies! They’re so cute. I used to have lots of bunnies back in the day. They are the perfect pet, they are sensitive to your feelings but never talk back. Like some teenagers might, before they turned out to be pretty nice people.
My favorite bunny Sarah used to turn her back on me the day after I came home from Russia. Every single time. “You left me!” How can people say animals don’t have emotions.
TRex: did you go to the Webb rally in Alexandria with Bill Clinton? I swear I saw someone in the crowd that looked just like you!
Adams Morgan?
Are the Bush twins there?
National Airport will be enough, thank you.
Good luck to all of us tomorrow. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a progressive revolution.
TRex! You the best! We all hope that you had the best time in the world on your election oddesey. I’ll check all the comments EARLY in the morning, before I wake up the old ladies at my polling place at 7, so I can be at work at 7:30. I’ve nagged everyone I know, including my boss…. GO AND VOTE!!!!
(And just in case I’ve never said it before, FDL is just an amazing place… everybody pat themselves on the back… RIGHT NOW!!)
Sleep well, wondrous Firepups… and may visions of BIG victories dance in your heads.
TRex !!
.. and Christy!
… and Pach!
… and Jeralyn!
and dear sweet Jane!
Sending bunny thoughts and rabid lamb energy your way, TRex and Christy and Jeralyn and Pach and Jane and everyone who has worked so hard to bring justice and liberty for all back from the brink. Good on ya, mates, and best of luck from down under.
Awright TRex!
Hey, let’s have a shout-out to all of the people who made it possible to send TRex on this road trip!
Awright, give it up for the FDL’ers who donated!
What…no nosh for us? It’s cruel, cruel world.
I’ve got yer pumpkin muffins right here. Be patient until tomorrow.
Mad Dogs @ 12
JH, CHS, Pach, and TRex NEED these muffins. The world can wait.
Well, this may be another harbinger. Fox News pundit, Oliver North campaigned against Daniel Ortega in Nicargua, yet Ortega has won. No coattails for Ollie.
Commie comeback.

Does anyone else see the irony that on Bush’s last night on the hustings in Florida he was snubbed by the Governor candidate and was left alone with his brother and batshit crazy Kat Harris….the losers are back together, kind of like a criminal returning to the scene of a crime.
Charlie Crist(R-Closet) snubbed Bush to campaign with John McCain(R-Flip-flopping straight talker).
-GSD
What time and time zone is the blogger throw down on CNN?
TRex, dear, we call it National Airport. Easy mistake, given the signage and determination of the airlines — but I correct my reservation agent, flight attendant, gate attendant, and cab driver EVERY TIME and so should you! Do not fall into their trap.
“I can feel the cosmos aligning” — is that what they’re calling it these days, Pach?
TRex I want you to know that I’ve recovered nicely from our little talk. I understand now — You’re Just Not That Into Me.
I can handle it.
(*sob*)
hey trex!
say hi to jeralyn for skippy!!
oh, yeah, and christy and pach, too!

Say hi to Duncan (atrios) tomorrow!
Don’t know if it’s an omen but Australia’s biggest horse race (I mean huge, the State where it’s held even has a public holiday today!) was just won by a horse called Delta BLUES. Ladies and gentlemen, the Blue winning streak has started its engine!

Trex! Christy! Jane! Pach! Jeralyn! Rabid lambs!
nosh on to victory

peach pie, anyone?)
Hi TRex, Pach, Christy and a special hello to Jeralyn for all her great coverage at Talk Left.
OT, in case anyone missed it, Jesus’ General picked up this heart breaker from Editor and Publisher:
But her senior senator is OK with it…
…and I’m sure Sen. McCain will sit down with Spec. Peterson’s parents, thank them for their sacrifice, and explain the importance of inflicting pain approaching, but not quite equal to, that experienced during organ failure.
From Editor and Publisher:
All along you’ve sworn that gay men are not promiscuous sex addicts. Save it until Wednesday, please.
Folks, remember Election Protection and dial 866-OUR-VOTE if you have any problems at the polls. I’ll be taking my digital camera, but I don’t expect any problems down here in Richmond, VA. I do expect a smile and warm greeting from the same sweet, little, old lady who always works the polls.

Hello from Farmington NM, near the four corners of our country. Load in the a.m. in Bondad, CO and headed for…wait for it…Midland, TX, home of Presidents. Which is about a 700 mile drive, downhill and downwind.
So FDLers go on CNN? How many? How much face time? I heard Kos goin’ at it today with some yayhoo. About five minutes I think. The yayhoo droned and pontificated. Kos just stuck and moved.

Donations of $49.99 and up gratefully accepted at the paypal/credit card button above. No one gets cash from this, only ponies and bragging rights.
And, please? GET OUT THE VOTE. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Jane,
you gonna be in DC? If so, for how long?
I have to second Patrick 4/4 @ 6. To genuine locals, that airport will ALWAYS be just called National. They should have named the Sacramento airport after him instead.
I’m so nervous and hopeful about tomorrow. Please, let Maryland and our Nation be out of the Republicans’ sole control. We need to be sane and principled once more.

Nope, NYC for me OFG. But I will be on Air America tomorrow with Rachel Maddow. I have a straight girl crush on her.
I think I would mess myself if an FDLer said on CNN tomorrow, “Republicans are running scared and Democrats are running angry. The question is, is America scared or angry?”
Just got back from the obligatory Melbourne Cup Lunch (this country will take any excuse for a party)and happy to see everyone pumped and cautiously confident. I hope the servers can stand the load tomorrow for those of us way too far away for CSPAN and CNN (the latter may be on cable here, but we don’t have it).

Felix Macaca is acting like a loser. Buying a 2 minute ad in order to plead with his constituents to vote for him. Talking about the war he said “mistakes were made” but “you don’t throw the Klansman out with the dirty sheets”.
OK, I made up the last line.
Also, Webb had about 5,000 for his last rally. Only about 250 Macaca-ites showed up for Felix.

Top secret is a euphimism for information our terminal has that fails to give us truck drivers. You know, like where we’re going, what we’re getting, what time do we have to be there, little insignificant details like that.

“Remain Calm”
Hahahahahahaha!
That’s a joke in our house. When we first moved to Arizona I bought a book for Mr. K8 about Arizona wildlife. There were chapters on rattlesnakes, scorpions, spiders, gila monsters, etc. etc. etc.
Somewhere in each chapter there would be advice for the average citizen for what to do when coming upon such a creature and having a less than optimal enounter — like getting bitten by a rattlesnake or scorpion.
Each such section had the admonition, “Above all, remain calm.”
We thought about the notion of getting bitten by a rattlesnake and thinking “ah….CALM….OM….OM…”
To this day, all either one of us has to do to get the other pealing in laughter is to say, “Above all, remain calm….”
So in that sense, yes, we’ll be CALM all day tomorrow.
;-)
I wish a real clever techie would do a concession video on You Tube for Joe and Dubya set to Paradise By The Dashboard Lights. If I was clever, I could make a good one fer sher.
Then came the day we had to choose,
And we waited for that happy news,
And the Gop was turned away.
We’d awakened from that fateful snore,
That began with Reagan years before
And when it came down the Goper’s couldn’t play.
And in the streets the children cheered
And all the talkshow pundits sneered.
The electorate had spoken,
Their contracts all were broken.
But the moment I admired most,
When we had won from coast to coast?
Bush fought The People and he was toast.
The day the right wing cried.

Twas the night before mid-terms
And all through the House
Speaker Hastert was ranting
The filthy old louse
“Tomorrow they choose, and the future is clear.
We’ll be handed our asses by the voters this year”
“Coach” Hastert was rattled, his confidence lost
For Nancy Pelosi would soon be his boss!
And Bill Frist with his scalpel, and a VERY scared cat
Wondered why all the public thought him such an asshat.
An irate America arose with such clatter
That even Chris Matthews gave up his weak blather!
Away to the polls we all flew like a flash,
And showed Dub the meaning of a voter backlash
The results were disputed by spinmeister Snow
But America just said “the bastards must go!”
When who should to my wondering eyes should appear
But a feisty Jack Murtha with a case of cold beer.
Wes Clark on his left flank, Charlie Rangle his right,
I knew in a moment, it would be a long night!
Their losses now certain, our future so bright…
It’s time to pay up KKKKarl, starting next Tuesday night
Gone Chafee, Santorum, Jim Talent and Burns…
Plus Kyle and Dewine, ’cause America learns
Gone Hayworth and Northrup and Christopher Shays.
they’ll all lose their house seats in a matter of days!
And Nancy and Harry, they’ll go straight to their work
Of fighting George Dubya, the pustular jerk!
Bush, laying a finger upside of his nose
Took a huge snort of……..well, you know how it goes…
Bush sprang to Dick Cheney, when “Darth” gave Dub a whistle
As the Democrats swamped them both like a “nucular” missile!
And I heard Cheney growl as Bush cringed at his side
“Be prepared you dumb asshole for a real nasty ride…..”
Merry Midterms, my friends.
So am I the first to put two and two together?
So we have all of these robo calls made by the RNC and the rest of these rightwing groups and anti-democracy clown-fuckers.
Perhaps they got a nice calling list from the ’secret Bush phone list’ that Gonzales said would only be used for Al Qaeda and that they would never use against their political enemies…………. right?

Tomorrow is sort of a strange day for me–Tuesday is a day I typically post little or not at all because I teach back-to-back classes at three different locations around Columbus. I will vote in the morning, but I unfortunately won’t be able to join in any festivities as a result of my schedule. Oh, and you want to talk about a “big day”? Daughter in Ohio, age 11, is leaving for school tomorrow morning and we won’t see her again until Friday. It’s a school camping trip (sleeping indoors, of course), and we trust the adults who are in charge. So everything should be fine. But…yikes! Our baby, away for three days, and not with my parents where I can just pick up the phone and call. So, it’s a weird day.
I was trying to think of something that I could give her to take with her to remind her that we’re “still with her” while she’s away, but there’s the risk of her losing whatever it is and feeling bad about that. There’s just this potential of making things worse than if we didn’t give her anything. So I lit a virtual candle for her.
You’re welcome to join me, if you feel so inclined.
All the enthusiasm on this site is incredibly refreshing. I will catch the blogging after I vote. Keep well–and not TOO calm. Get TRex’s mind back to snark. (And WHERE is the fighting koi tonight???)
And to the people down under and up over, we need your good wishes too. It is important to know that we have compatriots everywhere.
For some reason, I can’t think why. . . I feel I need a cigarette. I haven’t smoked in years. . .

Christy called from the airport today to ask why the threat level has been raised to orange. I told her that it must be because Darth Cheney’s gone hunting again.
Hi Mrs. K8!
Don’t know much about Todd, other than that he appears to have been a very well respected musician/producer for a long time.
Wild story about his sister, “Ralph.” It’s like the inverse of the old Johnny Cash tune, “A Boy Named Sue.”

I went to the Webb rally in Alexandria. It was amazing how many people were there!! I haven’t seen a crowd like that since I was at Mardi Gras years ago! Managed to be about 10th row from the stage. Webb was on fire!! Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Bill Clinton, Bob Kerry, Harry Reid, Chuck Shumer, Andy Hurst, Judy Feder, and Jim Moran were all there. It was a great event.
I really hope all of the energy, and the size of the crowd, translates into a win for us.

Gnome de Plume @ 97
She’s excited. If she’s nervous, she hasn’t let on to us.
This is a traditional 5th grade thing around here–our son would have done the same two years ago, except that we didn’t know about it in time to make sure it was written into his I.E.P. He gets special education services in school due to his Asperger’s Syndrome, and in his case the issues that must be dealt with are entirely behavioral rather than academic. So when the time came for our son’s class to do the overnight camping thing, we were told that he could only come if one of us was willing to come along as a chaperone. That wasn’t possible, so he wasn’t able to attend.
So, as is often the case for us, the family is experiencing a “first” with our second child that was bypassed the first time around.
Not sure how coherent I’m being at this point. I’m tired and need to go to bed.
She’s said she’ll miss us, and, of course, her cat. But I know it’s way harder on me than it is on her. And it’s another piece of uncertainty and feeling “not on solid ground” in addition to the election.

Just be sure & Vote cause the “answers” will always be there
“History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies and misfortunes of mankind.” – Edward Gibbon
As Tuesday’s vote approaches, Democrats are buoyantly optimistic about their prospects for retaking control of Congress. President Bush is wildly unpopular. His handling of Iraq, the election’s dominant issue, is backed by less than a third of the electorate. On issue after issue, voters across the United States support Democratic positions. And in generic Congressional polls, a majority of Americans consistently prefer Democrats over Republicans.
Almost none of which matters for the Republican braintrust. For the GOP, 2006 isn’t a popularity contest. The Republican strategy for victory hinges on turning out their base while ensuring potential Democratic voters stay home.
Call it “Divide, Suppress and Conquer.”
The Republicans’ 25% Strategy is simple. First, fire up the base with red meat issues, while using the proven conservative “distribution” channel of churches and single issue advocacy groups to get them to the polls. Second, drive down the participation of potential Democratic and independent voters through curbs on registration, onerous new ID requirements, and polling place eligibility challenges. Last but certainly not least for the Republican party of Karl Rove and Ken Mehlman, when in doubt, just cheat.
For the full story, see:
“Divide, Suppress and Conquer: The GOP’s 25% Strategy for 2006″

I am positive you will do your best. But the fact still remains the exit polls for 2004 are a systemic problem. First and foremost: get out and vote. This is a message that whatever your maker is, (or makers or higher power or reason) is embraceable. The number one message is vote and help others to the polls. As well, keep a wary eye (digital cameras are fine but ordinary 35mm film can pick-up surprising detail).
Despite repeated warning and discussions a fundamental issue has not been taken to heart. 80 percent of votes will be tabulated on machines, owned and controlled by folks who lean Republican to say the least. RFK Jr. is not only has it right, but I presume he doing the right thing now.
Regardless of the outcome: Don’t be taken in. A narrowloss in the House and a clear defeat in the the Senate is a crushing blow to the Democratic Party, democracy, and reason.
I certainly don’t wish you ill, but I ask you to look in the mirror on Wednesday morning and ask yourself if you truly live in a democratic country. There are duties and obligations passed down from generation to generation. We know from history the ferryman has been paid. Now is your time to ante up the toll. Don’t be fooled.

The campaign cycle now done- the day of
choices and elect’s is here again. We know
that the choices are important always in any
American election but 2006 surely must be
seen in greater scope. The GOP have done many
bad things and simply dont appear very sorry
about doing so. The Bush2WH having been less
than fully legitimate due to election thwart
and dis-count in 2000 has a six year record
of deceit, duplicity and incompetence. The GOP
run Congress of last five years has displayed
levels of disregard and scorn of it’s role in
Washington DC affairs and tht nation’s affairs
that Americans should not tolerate anymore of.
Heres to hoping the forces of the stars, the
gods and the light of justice all are behind
lots of changes for good November 7th. Much
work remains undone and the challenges ahead
are not small ones. The GOP very likely will
not be graceful in defeat. The Decider and his
enabler…Lord Vader-Cheney having signaled
that plainly enough. Clearly however we can now
conclude the forces of good are not with these
guys. Whatever glory they assign themselves
in delusion and self-deception will hopefully
by the eve of November 8th,2006 be seen for
what it always was–hollow and with no honor.

Ah, to be young again……
I AM trying to remain calm. I pulled out a notebook with important dates when I got home from this evening’s rehearsal. Starting in 1968, I’ve voted in about 70 elections if you count primaries and locals. This is the most important I can remember. 1972 had the same kind of urgency upon the National soul that this one does.
Up until 2000, the pro pols only stole elections from white people like Daley did for Kennedy in 1960. Non-white people somewhere in the country see their elections stolen every cycle – primaries, locals and nationals. Every cycle. FDL covered that better than most mostly white blogs. We’re seeing it once again.
In early 2005, when Conyers and a few other brave souls delved into WTF happened in Ohio in 2004, I shook my head and cried at the explicit and implicit racism in the media’s handling of his guerrilla hearings.
I hope when this victory is celebrated, we remember that one of the first matters of business is to fix this awful and continuing lapse in true democracy in America.
On that note, I’m fading fast, time to get a good night’s sleep before the big day. gnite firepups, for tomorrow we fight.
SUBWAY’S ROSE QUARTZ CRYSTAL BALL!
If we can overcome the 70 million votes that will be counted on insecure machines (Paranoid Androids anyone?) AND
If we can overcome the problems with voter identification (Be prepared for a strip search!) AND
If we can overcome the voter rolls that were purged by corporations like Choicepoint (Your grandmother has the same name as a sexual predator!)…we might just have a shot!
Just remember to bring your friends and your cameras.
Steal it once, shame on them
Steal it twice…
Don’t get fooled again.
There’s a song and video I posted on my site a while back that I think every voter should watch.
James McMurtry – We Can’t Make It Here Anymore!
A powerful musical message before you head out to the polls.
I’m voting… I did the voting thing tonight. There were lots of Ds on my ballot in OR. And then I had beer… the lovely BridgePort IPA.
But the voting for Democrats, that was the most important thing. I made it happen.
I downloaded Clinton’s speech at Webb’s rally Monday and am watching it now. Compared to Allen’s closer – in front of 250 people – this is a speech.
I wasn’t a big Clinton fan, but this speech is one of the most important campaign closers in recent American politics. It has everything a speech like that needs. His sense of timing is so close to the crowd’s feelings, it is uncanny.
So different from Bush, eh………..?
And then there is the rain… and the rain and the rain and more rain. 4 inches in NOV so far.
I got so wet riding home from work tonight. But it was warm, and then there was the voting and the beer, so I was a good night.

Marshall law, the detention centers being built for dept of homeland security by haliburton. Someone has been saying over and over how much danger dissent in this country is. Looks like they really believe it.
On another side of torture for anyone who missed it. watertiger has a photo (worthy of a caption contest imo) of Katherine Harris taken today as she was shunned by President Bush while he tried to campaign for Fla Gov candidate, who shunned the President.

thisthese are certainly times that try one’s soul – nothing less than the soul of our nation is at stake here. After I watched Clinton close Webb’s campaign, I watched Oberman’s most Murrowesque moment yet. I could have gone to the transcript and pasted my favorite part here, but played it and wrote it down longhand for the late doggies Oberman’s rhetorically addressing the President:
“There are a few hours left before the polls open, sir, there are many rationalizations still untried. And whatever your motives of the moment, we the people have in true, good faith, and with the genuine self-sacrifice of patriotism – OF WHICH YOU KNOW NOTHING – we have let you go on making it up as you went along.

I don’t know if GSD is still here but today when I got my move-on voter numbers to call, there was New York, Florida, North Carolina and New Hampshire…since I grew up in NH I was jazzed to be calling the old sod and I just want to say, nothing has changed there…when people answered their phones I asked them did they think they would get out to vote tomorrow and they said: OF COURSE! DUH! (as opposed to NC where they just “weren’t sure”) Then I tried to bring up Paul Hoedes name and they’re like: please don’t tell me how to vote and frankly it’s none of your effing business who I’m voting for. One guy there kept me talking for 45 minutes asking me every question in the book, told me at least three jokes. (did ya hear about how they crossed a vampire with a snowman? They got a frostbite.) posted for my board, I hope there is something here for you guys to use in your last efforts today to get out the vote, use what you like, discard what you don’t like, use it as if it’s you talking, not someone else, it looses effectiveness…I expect a new thread soon and will be re posting this as the day goes on;
crunch time today
there’s actually a method that I think has worked among my republican friends to vote democratic this election;
if the republicans remain in control of both houses every single thing the president wants to do gets rubber stamped, whatever he doesn’t want to do will not get done
if the president would rather give money that’s been earmarked to secure our ports to his rich friends, they get that money not our ports
that’s EXACTLY what happened by the way
no matter how badly any strategy has failed, it is rubber stamped if the president doesn’t want to change that strategy.
for instance, if he wants to abandon Afghanistan long before the generals told him was prudent, his decision was rubber stamped, if he wants to go into war with too few troops, that is rubber stamped, too little equipment, a rubber stamp, overrule the military on strategy, another rubber stamp
it’s not good for our military, it’s obviously not good for Iraq,
when everyone in our government agrees with everyone else no matter how what, it will bring us to ruin, it’s absolute power and it corrupts
there has to be counter point and every decision of weight needs to be counter balanced by the other side of the coin
if there is over site, there will be people making sure the generals agree with the decisions civilians are making
when a general says we need 600,000 troops, whatever party doesn’t want to give them too him is gonna get some noise, he’s gonna get what our men need or we are not going to proceed
this would be true if the other party was in power, if all three branches are controlled by a democrat the same thing would be happening in a different arena
when a general says he needs the proper vehicles, he’s gonna get them, the party that refuses our generals will be villanized, he gets his requirements for a campaign or the campaign does not proceed, no one will allow a plan to go ahead if the strategy is obviously flawed with such grave mistakes as too little men, not enough equipment
the democrats will NOT be able to say no to the professionals, that will be political suicide, and our troops stand a chance
the republicans DO say no to the generals because they think they have to listen to everything the president tells them
I’m telling you, we CANNOT have single party rule if you want America to survive.
AT LEAST one party to challenge the decisions being made, and oversite MUST be in place for our government to survive
once you that understand our democracy requires over site, you realize everyone must vote today, everyone must get everyone they know to vote
if you have time to donate, DONATE YOUR TIME, man the phones where they need you, watch the polls
there are going to be hot lines to report long lines, not enough machines and whatever else might happen
America needs every single person this election
if you’re wondering about success or failure in Iraq, I GUARANTEE the democrats WILL NOT do anything the generals tell them is ill advised
THAT IS MY GUARANTEE
it would be political suicide, and contrary to what your media has told you, the democrats DO NOT ‘want to loose”, they insist WE WILL WIN.
we cannot possibly win until we get some people that will provide the OVER SITE that would have given our troops the resources they needed
unless of course the military told us the aggression would harm America, then the over site would have prevented that course of action
this is very simple
if you want more of the same, if you want Rumsfeld to continue making these decisions overruling our military professionals, if you want a draft dodger like Chaney, with no military clue on the planet overruling our military professionals
if you want to disregard the generals and our military strategists trained in the field, then go right ahead and continue your support for the decisions you know are not only inept, they are irresponsible and counter productive
on the other hand, if you want the decisions made that are provided by the military professionals, by the trained strategists from our armed forces
then you better go to the voting booth, pinch your nose, hold your breath and find a democrat you can support.
not too difficult, there are plenty of military men running this time around, find one who is a democrat and vote for him or her
we have to give our soldiers a chance, we have to give America a chance and we have to give the Iraqi’s a chance to become our allies instead of our enemies
time to act tomorrow
for everyone that agrees with these points, you are called to arms, you are called by the founders of this republic, you are called by the framers of our constitution
you are called by your children and their children, their future is tomorrow and it is in their hands
your hands and your hands alone
protect your nation, your constitution, your country and the lives of the generations to follow, your children’s lives their childrens
this country cannot operate without over site, the republicans have abandoned their role and now it’s up to you to do what you know needs to be done
call your friends, call your family, call your ex girlfriend or boyfriend, talk to your waitress, your mechanic
talk to the person taking your ticket on the train
go out and do what needs to be done to fulfill your role in this government and do your level best to bring over site back into the process of governance in America
good luck

Fox News: Lieberman’s Field Staff?
Just heard this story that came from one of our volunteers in Milford… apparently, he was the only person from any campaign pollstanding at a polling place in Milford earlier this morning. All of a sudden, two or three out-of-state Fox News vans pull up and unload a bunch of Lieberman lawn signs, placed right in front of the Lamont signs that had already been planted. And, what do you know, after a few more minutes, who shows up but Joe himself.
Who needs a field organization (or an advance team) when you’ve got Fox?
