[…] If you’ve been gorging on polls lately, try to cut down– I’m trying to take that advice myself– and sign up to help ride what might– or might not– be a Dem wave. If it’s real, you’ll be able to say you were part of it; if it doesn’t happen, or doesn’t happen in your part of the country, at least you did your part. (I expect to make phone calls all day on Election Day, and maybe call for change Monday night if Jessie is, as expected, at a Rain Taxi meeting after Nathan goes to bed.) […]

Please Go to Actblue and contribute to Jim Nachman
running in VA. He is running against Eric Cantor (of the Foley, Abramoff, Delay connection). Cantor is hiding polls he has taken so the odds of Nachman winning may be a lot higher than anticipated. He needs support!!
Thanks

Haggard has not returned phone calls today from The Gazette, but he did tell 9News Wednesday that “I did not have a homosexual relationship with a man in Denver. I am steady with my wife. I’m faithful to my wife.” There has been no evidence produced that proves the man’s allegations.

so, it was in Boulder?

He might be between a rock and a hard place, according to what I read when I visited ThinkProgress:
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/.....rostitute/

A male prostitute alleges that he had a three-year relationship with prominent right-wing evangelical leader Ted Haggard, who has said that homosexuality is a “sin” and “devastating for the children of our nation and for the future of Western civilization.” Haggard denies the allegation.

(snip)

Haggard’s accuser, Mike Jones, says “he has recorded voicemails and a letter from Haggard, and that he had also witnessed Haggard use methamphetamine.”

AMERICABlog has more.

Punaise, I followed the link through, and while Harris was clearly uncomfortable with Halperin’s public meltdown, I did not find what Harris had to say all that comforting.

What could be wrong with that? My problem with the way you state it is that it tends to give credence to a popular view among ideologues of all stripes that the key to dealing with Old Media is “working the ref.” Partisans, disguised as media critics, believe that by howling loudly enough, they can intimidate us into pulling punches.

As a practical matter, I should say, I just don’t think the “work the ref” strategy works, since in most Old Media newsrooms, we tend to dismiss the howlers as nut cases, even when they might have decent points.

I think Harris is in denial if he thinks the right hasn’t successfully worked the ref over the last decade.

good point, thunder. I actually didn’t read that far; couldn’t handle the jarring bright green and blue website
