Mike Stark was terrific. Olbermann’s special comment? Words can’t do justice. Olbermann is really letting all the bums have it. He outright, repeatedly calls Bush Stupid and a Liar. That in itself, is worth turning TV on. He also bashed McCain, Pickles, the Harold Ford ad with the playboy bunny, the attack on Mike Stark, and let’s see?

If you licked your finger and touched Keith Olbermann on the wrist, steam would rise.

We’re a non TV household (Okay my son watches Sponge Bob and Jimmy Nuetron); but for Olbermann - my son my husband the dog the cats and myself all line up rapt. This man is out of sight.

My LTE published (see below) yesterday in the Danbury News Times, one of the papers in the 5th district. They endorsed Chris Murphy (Dem) against Nancy Johnson (Bush cheerleader), which is great news. And here’s what I wrote:

Send Ned Lamont to the U.S. Senate

Nov 01 2006

My husband and I were in attendance for the first Connecticut Senate debate in Stamford on Oct. 19.
Each candidate was allowed time for an opening statement. Joe Lieberman opened with a homage to his hometown city of Stamford, as well as his parents, teachers and rabbi. He thanked them for teaching him right from wrong.

Apparently, somewhere along the way, Mr. Lieberman forgot what right from wrong truly means. He forgot his so-called principles when he signed off on Senate Bill S. 3930, the Military Commissions Act of 2006 (which I prefer to call the Detainee Torture Bill).

This bill would authorize the president to establish military commissions for the trial of alien unlawful enemy combatants. The bill would authorize the secretary of defense to convene military commissions and, in concert with the attorney general, establish the rules and procedures governing military commissions.

S. 3930 also revises the War Crimes Act and would amend the habeas corpus provisions of the United States Code.

Habeas corpus, Joe? The basic right for each citizen to know why he is being held in jail?

It’s no longer enough for Mr. Lieberman to plead for “bipartisanship” any more, not when he so willingly caves to the bad leadership of the president and his party, when he is so willing to upend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Elect the true Democrat to the U.S. Senate on Nov. 7. Send Ned Lamont to Washington!

Jane,
This is my third post to you on this, because it’s that important: Bill “triangulate the Democratic party” Clinton has made robo-calls (I got one) in CT telling people to vote, but not telling them WHO to vote FOR. Why is he not supporting Ned Lamont, the winner of the Democratic primary? Could it be in some way connected to his wife’s “presidential” bid, which is growing less and less likely even as I write? Can someone please get through to Bill and tell him that he needs to come through for Ned Lamont?

More great stuff on Lamont blog - again h/t “lochness monster”..

Here’s A Thought:

Let’s take a look at two pieces of the Lieberman/Bush puzzle and see if they might fit together.

First, there is the curious Stay The Course™ Strategy, wherein Bush – even today – vows we will NEVER leave Iraq. Lieberman only abandoned his Stay The Course™ position for the election – we all expect it to resume if (God forbid) he’s re-elected.

Second, consider the 14 permanent bases being built in Iraq. Costing BILLIONS of tax payer dollars, some are the size of small American cities. Very odd.

So let’s see.. permanent bases and Stay The Course™ no matter what the cost…

Could it be that the financial investment in the new bases is so unspeakably huge that abandoning them seems “out of the question” to the warmongers?

Pretty possible.

What are these bases for? Well, they aren’t for pizza parties. What else could they be for? The only thing facilities this vast in Iraq could really be used for is providing staging for a much larger Middle East war.

My previous kitty (now deceased from eating too many balloons left over from my grandson’s birthday party) would ONLY drink water from the bathroom sink. She would come and give me the ‘look’ and I would go and turn the bathroom faucet on. Later I would come back and turn it off. She would do her ‘business’ in the tub, which meant I had to do the sterialize bit, but otherwise she was a great kitty.

The kitty I have now does better but hates all adults (other than me) and prefers the company of children.

Cozumel,

I think once the Republicans had latched on to the Kerry gaffe they weren’t going to let go of it for a day or two, not until they had beaten their breasts and sounded all sanctimonious over it. And again if it hadn’t been him they would have found someone else. BTW Kerry’s initial response was pretty good. His eventual apology was just part of this Republican inspired and Hillary abetted kabuki.

Hugh,

I hear you, but, if Kerry would have knocked this out on day one, there wouldn’t have been Hillary on day two. It was festering and dominating the news cycle.

Marion in Savannah @ 230

Angie, I just had my second kitty diagnosed with diabetes. She is starting to do great with insulin shots (which she doesn’t even seem to feel) and the vet’s suggestion of high-protein cat food. Either Fancy Feast or Science Diet kitten food were mentioned by my vet. My guess is what I’ll spend in medicine and special food I’ll save in litter, and have a happier, healthier kitty. If you want, e-mail me at mgpaquin at aol dot com and we can compare notes. My kitty never USED the toilet, just flushed it…!

My little one was diagnosed in April and I have been giving him shots twice a day and testing his blood sugar too, but he got so sick 3 weeks ago and we had to leave him at the vet clinic. I took him home after no answers except “there may be nothing more to do, he may have a tumor” even though all the ultrasounds and xrays and bloodwork were negative. Now he’s happy, jumping into my lap, snuggling and gaining weight… finally. His glucose is ca. 200 at peak, too. Thank you for giving me hope!

We switched out his dry food to protein rich food upon diagnosis, too. He was so finicky when we switched!
