Well you certainly expect it of Butt Boil Limbaugh, and I suppose you should expect it by now of Hillary Clinton — Sista Souljah is obviously a family affair.
I could understand that people just want the whole John Kerry thing to disappear from the stage a week out from the elections, but the Republicans and their compliant media (who seem to think a botched joke is more important than a botched war) aren't letting that happen. Anyway, the appropriate course of action for those wishing for it to fade away would be to simply change the subject, or at least STFU and not seize on it for personal political gain, but John Kerry did after all come out and criticize Holy Joe Lieberman so he must (like Howard Dean before him) be punished.
Meanwhile — oh lord don't make me do it — Bob Casey shows he knows how to stand up to Republican bullies:
"He botched a joke. He was honest about a mistake that he made," Casey said after speaking to several hundred students in a packed auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania. "He didn't make a mistake like this president did" with a failed strategy in Iraq.
I really didn't want to have to do that, but credit where credit is due. Anyone with the guts to tell the GOP to Fuck Right Off and stick it to George Bush and his failed war gets a high five.
I know it's hard to be a woman running for President, but her husband triangulated the party right out of an identity in the 90s and we've been paying the price ever since. Can she please find a way to conduct her campaign without tearing apart the Democratic Party? Thanks Hills.

let’s pillory Hillary
ptooey, Hill.
You do not speak for me, and haven’t for a long, long time.
Casey was right.
I am so angry at these “me first” dems– put your country first, folks.
I see some sore hands!
I got home from work and turned on the TV. NY1 was on and the story was Clinton’s comment. I immediately began yelling at the TV… I changed the channel. ARGH!!!!!!!!!! I feel trapped that I have to vote for her ’cause there’s no there way I’m voting for Spencer.
PurpleGirl @ 4
Agree completely. Every time I think she can’t disappoint me more…….
OMG, someone is pressing my Hillary button(s) again. I will not succumb, I will not give in, I will not cave to the temptation…
…but her husband triangulated he party right out of an identity in the 90s and we’ve been paying the price ever since.
Geometry 101: Bill triangulates; Hillary’s plane with fire as she bisects you all.

Don’t hold back on my account! :>)
I have been seething for several hours.
Thanks Jane.
That this is the very first apology ANY of these fuckwads have demanded since the first bombs hit the ground during “Shock and Awe (Shit)” is sad testimony indeed…
Next up, Hillary, how about demanding an apology for the “inappropriate” 50% slashing of funding for the treatment of traumatic brain injuries???
If it’s not too much trouble…
Wow. Hillary is a fool. Her short-term tactics doom any long term ambitions for the presidency she may have. They also virtually guarantee a bloody primary for her in the future.
Her last chance is to do the right thing by Ned. I will hold out hope on this until the 11th hour.
Off Topic (with apologies, though maybe not soooo OT)
This is their alleged, sorta, supposed “war on terra.”
The tail isn’t wagging the dog, there is no dog. And the public knows this, and whatever Kerry said (and I’m on the side of not really knowing what he has to apologize for), or what any other Dem says, it doesn’t matter.
Hillary is Joe Lieberman in a dress.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Her version of Democratic politics would never sell in Louisiana. We are looking for a populist with a bit of sleeze and a bit of spunk, and Hillary is not that. Believe it or not, I think Louisianans would warm up to a Feingold or to a Richardson.

that’s just wrong
Hillary stands for Hillary. Period. She’ll throw anyone who gets between her and her objective overboard. That would include us. She’s bound and determined to get to the top, and if you’re inconvenient for her, you’re declared unnecessary ballast and tossed overboard.
I think she is answering the question, “whose next?”
SusanD @ 18
Truer words have not been spoken.
Thanks Jane — and high five to JK and FDL!
At least you don’t have “that woman” as your Senator! And to think she replaced the best Senator NY ever had –Pat Moynihan
At least now I don’t have to vote for the Greenie canndidate — stabbing Kerry like that gets me to plunk for Spencer with zero reservations whatsover!
Thanks sHill!
and that is a god awful picture of her too. she deserves that.
she has the same blood on her hands as every other enabler of this wretched war.
if this election doesn’t turn this country around, then billmon is right: people get the government they deserve.
On the brighter side,
we can now dispose with the flawed logic that Hillary is a good progressive option.
What Punaise said up top.
oh look! Coultergeist up next on KO! (apparently she’s in trouble with the law)
Nice pearls, Hill.
gak.
O’liely is flogging the rigamortified horse (Kerlary) and Joe Trippi is letting him.
That dude is an enabling puss.
Does Pox pay their guests?
All right, I’m weak. I am so angry with Hill!!! And I dislike her too. I can sum it up in one word. Betrayal.
I’d vote for Rick Santorum before I’d vote for her. The day she gets the party nomination for President is the day I change my registration to Independent. They will be seeking net roots/ progressive support come primary time 2008. I hope there is someone else to vote for. The thought of the DLC crowd back in power makes me sick. As a CT Democrat I can only say what they’ve done to Lamont is unforgivable. Schumer, Hil, Bill, Carper, Landrieu, Lowell, Davis et al, we won’t forget

Oh… and Senator Clinton, shut-up about this ridiculous Kerry business. Just SHUT-UP!!!
Science fiction fans may remember Larry Niven’s Ringworld books, and the Pierson’s Puppeteers. Their entire psychology and decision-making were based on minimizing risk. Their leader was called “The Hindmost”, because clearly a smart leader leads from behind, letting others become casaulties. I’m thinking Hillary Clinton deserves that title.
If Hillary is the nominee in 2009 I will hold my nose and vote for her.
However
Between now and then I intend to work hard to see that my nose remains unbothered.
Hillary’s beginning to sound like a combination of Neville Chamberlain and Joseph Lieberman.

1,321 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Hamsher and the Firepup Patriots:
The fight for American Democracy and constitutional government now enters the final phase. The last battle will be fought within the Democratic Party between January, 2007 and May, 2008. We now know that we have been trianulated into the position of fighting off a classic fascist power structure in order to create space for the consolidation of corporate power. The battle for control of the Democratic Party and the structure of the elected national leadership will determine whether or not our future lies within the chapters of “Brave New World” and “1984″.
Hillary Clinton is NOT an option, Firepups…we simply must stop her cold in the fight for Senate reorganization in January.
KEEP THE FAITH THERE’S STILL PLENTY A WORK TA DO!!
Could somebody please tell me what, if anything, Hillary Clinton stands for?
No, on second thought, better not.
punaise @ 39
noice.
I haven’t read all the comments yet, and will go back and do so, but just to let y’all know…
I made a personal vow over a year ago that if the Dems were boneheaded enough to nominate Hillary I would sever all ties with them. Which, given where I live, would mean I would have to vote for Republicans or nothing. That choice would be nothing. Who the F#CK thinks she would be a good choice in 2008??? HUH??? Let her stay in the Senate and do what she’s told…. GRRRRRR…. (Not that I feel strongly, or anything….)

Hillary – a better than average argument against “catch and release.”
ThatSinger @

Agree completely.
I suspect that Hillary has been declared the ‘08 Democratic candidate so often by the Republicans and the DLC that she sees it as fact.
Anyone who seems to be positioning themselves for that primary will most likely get figuratively kneecapped by Hillary. Since Kerry had seemed to be “positioning” himself to run again she’s just trying to eliminate him early and save herself some extra effort and campaign money.
I’m really shocked and saddened by the lack of solidarity in the national Democratic party; they just don’t give a flying fuck about anybody other than their incumbant buddies.
When I saw supposedly progressive Dems like Barbara Boxer fly across the continent to lend support to a guy she can’t hardly stand, and yet Billary can’t be bothered to take a 60-minute limo ride to nearby CT to say “Hi Y’all” for Ned, I’m stunned.
As a party, the Democrats may have seen their best days.
angie @ 31
Yes I do. ; )
This is the sort of shit Hillary has wrought. Look at the front page of CNN.com:
White House: Kerry apology right but late
Sen. John Kerry issued a statement Wednesday apologizing to anyone offended by his comments to college students about getting “stuck in Iraq.” He added: “I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues.” Senior Republicans had jumped on his statement as insulting to troops. A White House statement said the apology “came late, but it was the right thing to do.”

Let’s make Hillary auxiliary.
Mike Stark on Olbermann right now.
Mike Stark on Keith
Hillary Clinton has become part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy”.
She was a good first lady to Bill.
She is a dubious Senator, imho, and responds mostly to the powerful in her constituency.
She has NO right to the nomination, not unless she repents and repudiates many of her positions and her ego will never do it.
Case closed, and I do not care how much money she has.
btw, KO plays the entire assault and battery with all the audio. Mike Stark, hero, on right now!
I’m one of those who thought that Kerry should simply STFU regardless of the original intent of his joke.
But with Hillary “Where’s my balls?” Clinton opening her trap, Jeeeeeeeebuuuuuussss!!!
Hillbaby, trying to knock John out of the 08 race now by repeating the Repug talking points and dissing him, kinda hurts the Dems 06 efforts, doncha think?
Doncha care? Oh wait, Hillbaby is all about inside-the-Beltway strategists and pollsters, and they say: Be Repug Lite! You know, balls and no brains.
Ok, you can have some brains, but 1st priority is balls, balls and more balls, because hell, you’re a woman, and nobody votes for women unless they’ve got balls.
Policies, shmolicies…give us chest-beating and ass-kicking and we’ll all be smoking stogies in the West Wing come January 09.
Come-on Hillbaby, kick John “Loser” Kerry to the curb and screw the Dems in the 06 elections. After all, Bill didn’t need ‘em, did he?
Punaise at 51.
It’s innate finger intelligence or piss-poor typing/proofreading ability.

Wow. I’m going to have to dig into the bookshelf to find Ringworld… I think I remember where you’re going, and I’ll bet you’ve nailed it.
And Lord knows the Repellants don’t insult troops! No, they just send them into battle without armor, without other necessary equipment. Oh, and they let Halliburton give them bad food and water. And let’s not forget the “Stop Loss” program that sends them back to Iraq three and four times. And lack of medical care when they get home.
But they do it with respect.
Yeah, right.
grayslady @ 12
There speaks truth!
Sad for Hillary. She has yet to realize she has NO chance in 08, unless she gets a significant portion of the repugs (does she think they will greet her with flowers as their liberator?). She is droopy dog in a pants suit as someone previously said.
grayslady @ 12
We must remember to forward this to Russ Feingold’s presidential exploratory committee.
I guess I’m in the minority here because I think what Hillary said was right: it was inappropriate. A week before the election isn’t time to make jokes about Iraq, no matter how bad they may make Bush look. The speech was ill-timed and an attention grabber.
Go Mike Stark and Keith!
Bravo!
HRC is unsavory, insipid, tasteless, disagreeable, and distasteful. And these represent her best qualities.

Hillary, Billary, dock, the Senator ran out the clock. And it’s bye bye Hill.
Well, that interview for the Democratic Party’s 2008 presidential nomination did NOT go well.
It’s almost as though they (Kerry & Hillary or DLC if you wish) don’t want Dems to win too big this year.
How about reminding the voters of how Republicans handed out envelopes stuffed with money on the House floor to get a bill passed?
How about reminding teenagers how the Republicans in the House cut the student loan program?
How about reminding them of how the Republican Congress had no problem with Bush lying to them about the cost of the health care reform bill?
How about letting the public know the Republican House could have stopped the Iraq war by cutting off military appropriations?
How about reminding the people over and over of how the Republican House was just a big ol’ rubber stamp for George W. Bush?
*xyz @ 30
I just wrote her and told her that I wouldn’t vote for her if she was the ONLY choice, and that I intend to actively campaign against her if she runs for president. Like she really gives a shit what I think…but that’s ok.

I’ll go with the former, since I’ve got the latter covered myself.
I was going to add that if HRC is Holy Joe in a dress, that would mean Big Dog is Hadassah with a putz…but it’s clear she’s got her putz already.
the rude one gets it:
http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/
Kerry’s joke may have failed, but from Iraq, WMD, Dubai ports, the class war and even the Cheney hunting accident, President Bush’s sick sense of humor shows the joke is on us.
For the grim details, see:
“Kerry’s Failed Joke, Bush’s Sick Humor.”
I just watched Mike Stark’s actions…he’s kind of a hack. I’ve done the same thing a bunch of times, and I never acted like the spaz he was. Sorry, but he was wrong.
There are ways to do this, but you have to be patient, calm, non-threatening, and polite. Believe me, there were times Joe Lieberman would have LOVED to have had me pitched through a window, but I didn’t give him or his henchmen a good reason.
When Ned Lamont was asked about Kerry, he deflected it right back on Bush and the war.
There’s a video and post by Matt Browner Hamlin of this over at MyLeftNutmeg.
Ned gets it right
Is Hillary actively trying to infuriate the center to left?

Whaddya say??
LindaR @ 60
I understand what you’re saying: integrity and courage. I hope the simpler macho definition disappears one day. As I see it, the problem occurred precisely because a man who was attacked as unmanly in 2004 thought that if he didn’t act macho, he couldn’t be seen as qualified to be President. I’d like to see a candidate that is grown up enough, and secure enough, to not worry about this.
Howard Dean spoke up, and didn’t throw Kerry under the bus.

John Kerry made a mistake trying to joke about “getting stuck in Iraq.” But this election isn’t about John Kerry; he isn’t running.

Dare I conjure ‘third party’. I am outraged at the lack of full steam support for Lamont and other Democrats by the heavy hitters within the party. At the top of my anger list is the Big dog and the Big Dogette. The Democrat movers and shakers are on thin ice.
Regardless of how the joke was delivered, the subject of the joke was our C-student president, and how a C-student president got us into Iraq. That was the joke. Kerry said so.
So… a slam on a C-student president was “inappropriate”?
I can understand an idiot Fox News viewer not understanding that that was what the joke was supposed to have been about… but not Hillary. She knew better.
Yeah, perhaps it’s “inappropriate”, if it comes from your main political rival. And yes, Jane’s spot-on when she says that Bill and Hill triagulated us right the hell out of a party.
Prediction: whatever electoral losses we sustain, our beloved media will blame them all next Wednesday morning on a combination of: [a] the Dems’ just not “understanding” the Red States, and; [b] John Kerry.
You just watch!
Which pretty much jibes with the “Jomentum in a dress” comment above. I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate before, but if Hillarific gets the Dem nomination, I’ll be sorely tempted do do either that, or not vote at all.

Christy, you’ve won my life-long devotion with this post. I’m often more skeptical than you about Fitzmas, but you’re 100% right about Billary. She has been getting such a free ride on Iraq, the very issue for which we all want to demolish Lieberman.
And I intensely dislike the DLC.
Fifteen months til Hillary’s graceless concession speech after losing the Iowa caucus to Feingold. One week to Lieberman’s graceless non-concession concession speech after losing to Lamont. But yeah, he’s dealing with a tougher dude. As far as I know, Senator Lieberman doesn’t have a noose in his office.

Someone upthread said that Hillary has no balls. I think she has brass ones and by saying she doesn’t have guts implies she really feels differently but is too timid to speak the truth. I think she speaks her mind pretty well and I detest her positions on just about everything. She came out for the Israeli aggression when they were slaughtering innocent Lebanese citizens. She hasn’t represented my interests for a long time. Probably since she voted *for* the Iraq invasion, and yeah, she knew what dynamite she was handing over to Bush when she did it.
She’s got balls alright; but so what. I’ll never, ever vote for that woman.

We may all die by 2008
Lets see…highly shaped intel put into
Iraq lead-up to war–lots of plain lying
going on about WMD and 9/11 Iraq connection.
Shock and Awe led to the CPA debacle which by
now should fully have been a raging fire the
GOP could not put out. Mission Accomplished
leading to one false turning point to the
next. Iraq is a American Disaster inflicted
on Iraq. Bush’s War. Anyone who at this late
stage thinks otherwise–Cheney,Rumsfeld and
Rice in Bush2WH the usual suspects must have
no moral compass or sense of decency.
Putting Kerry in the doghouse at this point
the MSM,DC Machine politicians and the three
monkey types who support Bush2WH and GOP takes

It would be very refreshing to see some of
this same venom applied to G.W.Bush for his
long record of deception and duplicity.
Refreshing it might be but not likely.
Kicking Kerry in the ass is easy. And even

on several fronts these days. It is plainly
evident MSM has given Bush and the GOP Gang

Jesus Christ, that’s beyond unfair. I’ve given money to Lamont and spent time in Norwalk during the primary. What the fuck else am I supposed to do to qualify as a good Democrat in your eyes?
The day after the election, I am going off on an anti Hillary tirade. The topic will be the bankruptcy bill. How Hillary fought against it while Bill was in the White House after getting briefings on how it would fuck the poor, those with medical catastrophes and how months after taking office, she said fuck it and voted for it.
She really needs a cup of STFU.
I used to really, really like and respect Senator Clinton. No more. It is Clinton who apparently changed. Not me. She let the Democratic Party down.

I’ll say it again, sHillary has NO chance. I know many who voted against BuSh who would not have voted at all had sHe been the candidate. She might get within 10 points if the repugs run Foley, if you call that a chance.
Y’know,
I’m starting to be a real believer in this idea of people powered politics.
For one thing, we have fellas like Howie who set up this Blue America concept and somehow or another, ferreted out all these worthy candidates.
But Rahm didn’t. He just wanted a base hit, while the netroots were swinging for the fences. We can finance campaigns, we have extrodinairly talented people who can formulate messages, make ads, and get ‘em on the net.
The Corporate Media sees this and more bloggers get on teevee, reaching those not on the net, bringing more curious folks to the fold (such as myself).
As Corporate market shares diminish, so will ad rates, and campaign financing becomes less attached to big monied special interests.
Sorry to point out the obvious folks, but sometimes it helps to say it.
We are the change. We matter.
Forgive me if this has already been covered, but
Keith Olbermann handled the Kerry-kerfuffle beautifully tonight, I thought.
Maybe he read the terrific post Jane wrote earlier about framing discussion, or maybe he’s just beautifully in synch.

Wow what a surprise Hillary Clinton turning against her fellow Democrat just when he needs her support the most. What a shock! Who saw that coming? How many of you suckers were planning to vote for her when she runs for President? Just don’t say later “Oh we didn’t know.”
By the way John Kerry deserves all the hell they’re putting him through and then some. Why why, why, why, would some one joke about something so sensitive? What is there to joke about? This country is going to hell in hand basket and he feels the need to make with the funny! If you’re going to make a joke about Bush here’s a little advice INCLUDE BUSH’S NAME IN THE $%#@% JOKE! Here’s some more advice. Leave. Comedy. To. The. Comedians! Period. Especially one week before one of the most important elections of our time, when the right wing sharks are circling the waters looking for any tiny morsel they can use to rally the brain dead voters of this country.
Now I understand why he lost an election to Retarded Rain-man Bush.
I apologize for that last remark I didn’t mean to insult retarded people.
trifecta @ 129
There you go. I, too, am waiting until after the election. Too bad the rahmbo patrol can’t.
Oilfieldguy @ 134
Damn right! Hey OFG, whats up with the local Ganon fest?
Jane @110, Thank you! I’ve been biting my tongue, my cheeks and my lips to distract my fingers. The more of these guys I see, the more determined I am NOT to derail the thread by calling them all neocon *sswipes.
I hate that fucking Hillary Clinton.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 103
OK Kiddo, you are right and I wholeheartedly agree with you.
The DLC has helped lose the last three elections by taking the heart out of the Dem. party and replacing it with corporate steel, then giving it faulty advice on how to win elections.
As someone said on one of these blogs, the Democrats
should run ads from now until election day with that clip of our Presinit at the White House correspondents’ dinner from a year or two ago.
In it, he did an Arte Johnson imitation with
shaded eyes, squinting behind and under the podium, saying “No weapons of mass destruction here, none over there, hehehe”, as the body bags came back from Iraq with young men and women killed in this needless war fought for those nonexistent WMDs.
Bush should apologize for his cavalier remarks, for these deaths and for the 650,000 Iraqis dead on their own soil, for what?
What Kerry said was thoughtless but he hasn’t killed anyone, and the whole thing is Rovian trivial pursuit using the corporate press to deflect the true arguments in this election from being discussed.
This Kerry thing has been nothing but red meat for the right wing base. After two freaking days dominating MSM it was starting to bleed into individual congressional races. Back on topic now, IRAQ!
Eureka Springs, AR,
A local (OKC) wingnut blogger is part of some internet radio thing got an interview with Jeff Gannon (Yes, THAT Jeff Gannon) to talk about La Cage Aux Foley and how it was all the Democrats fault.
Seriously
joysness @ 137
A large part of what’s wrong with Hillary IS her failure to stump for Lamont. Speaking for myself only, at this point I don’t care what Clinton does.
No No No I’m not done yet.
If that bitch gets in the white house, she is what everyone will think a progressive is.
Fiengold is the only potential who will speak in public of what we are.
God, Hilary just makes me nauseous. If she gets the nomination in 2008 I will not vote Democratic for the first time since i voted back in 1972. She just a corporatist and an opportunist too closely allied with the DNC.
She and Joe Lieberman are 2 birds of a feather.
I just HATE the way she triangulates EVERYTHING!
Have some real conviction Hillary and stand up to the rethugs and take it to them not to your fellow party member John Kerry. You have to admire the Right for one thing……they stand united! Where’s your loyalty Hill?
I’d be perfectly happy if she’d go campaign in Antarctica.
She is hands down the worst politician in the ‘Democrat’ Party and I will do everything I can to see she never gets the chance to complete the wrecking job her feckless, blow-job loving hubby started on the Democratic Party and by extension America.
Had enough of hilary yet!
You know, I try not to agree with one single fucking thing a knuckle-dragging red-state Cletus might think or say, but hating on Hilary Clinton seems to be something almost anyone, brain or not, can do and at least be right once a day.
hilary makes one bad decision after another.she has no buissnes ataking kerry.I will never vote for her for anything.

I suspect she has as much chance of getting to the white house as I have of playing guitar in Delbert McClinton’s band. Just not gonna happen. In my case, I’m not good enough. In her case, she’s too evil. She and her husband have proven themselves to be as evil as any repuke. Pretty fuckin’ sad.
Jane – to answer your question, the answer obviously is no…come to think of it, FUCK NO.
I think SusanD far upthread has it right. Mrs Clinton is playing presidential politics the way it is played in France. The problem is that we are in a more dangerous situation than France. She can play this game next year and the year after, but not when we are in the middle of an election that really matters to our future. What she did was gratuitous and close to being unforgivable.
What she did is symptomatic of the Democratic party’s disease. We were in power for so long that the pols took for granted that they could play the private game and nothing would come of it. That’s how we got Lieberman and Biden and now Mrs. Clinton screwing over the party because they think it will give them an edge up on the Big Game. We are all in this together, for Christ’s sake.
Hillary yelled “Fire” to the Democratic circular firing squad.
Kerry couldn’t say “Hello” without screwing it up or making it sound like insurance fine print.
This has been botched and rebotched. All because the Democrats who were suckered by Bush are too vain to admit they were suckered. They owe apologies to those of us who warned them Bush was lying or wrong for ignorning us. They also owe apologies to all the families of the soldiers wasted or crippled by the Iraq War.
The sad part is well the other sad part is that no matter how much she: trashes other dems sucks up to the rethugs and repeats their talking points for them the right is still going to hate her. She’ll also be that liberal dyke and every other vile name they can think to call her. But she’ll go on abandoing any democratic principles she may have had.
FJM @ 128
This is a tough place to post alternate opinions, no question about it.
In Japan, rather than saying ‘no’ they often say ‘Yes, But….’.
Not saying it’s right, but that’s FDL. Go along to get along.
Go Casey!
PA Dems!
Heh. As if I didn’t have enough reason to want to keep the Goldwater Republican from getting the nomination.
Just wait, she’ll backstab Gore next.
Wrong, Jane.
Not only should Kerry have apologized immediately, but there were ways he could have done it to Democratic advantage. Kerry is not presidential.
May Mr. and Mrs. Billary Clinton vanish…paff!
CHILL HILL.
What is wrong with Hillary? Can’t she say, “Kerry meant to say get US stuck in Iraq. He meant the PRESIDENT should have studied harder so he could have thought the war through before he got US stuck in Iraq.” But no. I truly thought Hillary would have had a more thoughtful, reasoned response. But Casey — say what you will about some of his views — has promise. Maybe HE should be stumping for Ned.
Hillary sucks. I don’t know anyone who likes her — and all my friends are Dems.
Well, the good news is that this should clear the field for 08. Hillary had way too much baggage, anyway. And John Kerry, bless his heart — he’s a good Democratic Senator (as is Hillary, for that matter), but he had his chance.

I watched Nelson stomp all over Harris yet again. Russert was the questioner/moderator and did a good job, like Matthews did in another Floridia debate. I’m very impressed with Senator Nelson’s plain speaking and intelligence. He reminds me very much of my own Senator Rockefeller except he has more of a tan.
Harris is a joke. She should go on tour with Dubya. They’d wow audiences all over the country.
I also saw Charlie Rose on Public t.v. interview Howard Dean. This was perhaps the most succinct, direct and coherent interview of Dean I’ve ever heard. The man is on point and focused like a laser. I also loved that he brought up the possibility of Dems winning in Nebraska, Colorado, Idaho and Arizona. That lets the public know how far this thing, this wave, is going.
I think Charlie Rose was so stunned he didn’t even think to ask a question about Kerry’s gaffe. Howard Dean rocked!
I hate to post twice in a row, but it has occurred to me that I should say the upcoming Saddam Hussein trial verdict is going to suck all the air out of the room and Dems need to be ready for that. We don’t want it to distract from our building wave of voters.
We need to have immediate answers to the obvious Repub and press questions about whether we’re safer now or whether Dems would want to reinstall Saddam or whether it was good to kick Saddam out of power, etc. Just think on it.
If there are any Firedogs still thinking about supporting Hillary, here’s something to consider — Rupert Murdoch has taken BOTH Hillary and McCain under his wing. Think about it… it doesn’t matter, Democart, Republican, or maybe a new third party — in any case it would be the Murdoch Party.

Hillary is done. Thank God! Now let’s talk about candidates who actually have a chance at winning.

Oh, snap! Go Jane!
Step back for a minute, FJM. If you are sincere (which I doubt), and if you and Hillary actually care about being viewed as “good Democrats,” neither of you would dream of helping Tony Snow Job and the Slime he works for perpetuate their jihad against John Kerry just for being a klutzy comedian.
Repeat after me: Sadly, because she had so much promise, I will NEVER vote for Hillary Clinton . . . ;-/
yeah, i agree with that… if he flubbed a joke, say so immediately.. in the next sentence after you did it… DONE. this story had legs long after it should have because the republicans and their media pimped this to the max…doesn’t excuse all the bullshit, and the piling on of kerry that the right (expected), the media (lapdogs), and certain democrats (unacceptable)for a slip of the tongue…
however, slip of the tongue or not, i sense a certain wounded egotism masked in machismo in kerry that doesn’t allow him to admit mistakes, esp in the face of the people that swiftboated him- (which is understandable to a degree, but he is a politician, this is the game he chose) a certain brittleness that is so unspontaneous and measured, that was the reason why so many people didn’t feel inspired to get behind him… shit, he can’t even make a quip about a blown joke in front of a college audience. good for him for going back at the bullshit thrown by the administration, but he could have also deflected all the bullshit earlier.
again apparent that he is not anywhere near presidential.. but still doesn’t excuse other democratic leaders for throwing him under the bus… far far worse than telling a bad joke is a backstabber for personal gain. hillary’s a bitch. also not presidential.
do you have to wooden, soulless and conniving to get to where they’re at? what the fuck is wrong with these people who lead us? i guess still better than venal, incompetent, and stupid that leads the other side…
but still, depressing sometimes.
Well, she just set her “rehabilitation” back a long, long, long way …
If Kerry owes The Troops an apology?
Bush owes The Troops a resignation.
Hillary and Obama can kiss off. After 11/7 could we place start an e-mail campaign to tell Hillary and Bill to STFU and to quit back stabbing real Democrats? If Hillary runs, she’ll do it without my vote. I will go Green. It is time for a protest. I am sick of corporate owned, wimpy ass, back stabbing Dems.
I hear ya, dkmich. I voted for Tasini in the NY Dem primary, and the only way I’d vote for Clinton if she winds up being the Dem candidate in ‘08 is if I thought she was the best shot we had of keeping McCain out of the WH. Talk about your lesser of two weasels.
Hillary is a two-faced weasel woman. I attended an event she ostensibly “hosted” for Lamont, and she basically threw him under the bus. BITCH! Wes Clark, John Edwards, Howard Dean and John Kerry have been IN Conn. with Ned:she probably is scared to even be over Conn. airspace at this point! God forbid HoJo wins, but if he does my only solace will be watching him stab the Dems in the back at every opportunity. If I can see this coming, why can’t they? JERKS!
After this latest GAF from Kerry and this latest back stabbing move to advance her cause Hillary, this may signal the end to each of their presidential asparitions. One can only hope.
The American people want change and by change that doesn’t necessarily mean a change in party, they want a change in the type of politicians that only look out for themselves and not what is good for the country. Kerry and Hillary are no different in my book that Bush and Cheney.
Anything and everything to advance their cause.
This latest go around about Kerry’s remarks reminds me about the response to the Pope’s criticisms of Islam, though the Pope truly meant his remarks. It is the response that is amazing. I guess we can expect Republicans to overreact and dissemble, but when our own brothers and sisters not only fail to support this good man, this veteran, but attack him, too, then we have come to the point where the Republicans have won anyway. They had taken away our self-respect.
I believe that after the election, many will have to apologize to Kerry for their lack of loyalty and good sense.
And with that remark, I am unable to hold my nose to vote for her ever again.
On the bright side, if Hillary wins the Dem nomination in 2008 and Lieberman wins in 2006 (I beg the gods, no!) then I’ve got an idea. We get Lieberman to be the USA for Lieberman candidate for president. I could vote for Lieberman over Hillary Clinton at this point. (Got to vomit now. Laters).
I put a comment on this post at the Huffington Post this morning and it was not posted. All is said was we should have seen this coming and prepared. Had a phone bank ready to start blasting the democrats that report to us or the ones that want to, with phone messages saying don’t dare flinch, or something like that.
I added that I called John McCain and shamed him for his craven display yesterday.
Maybe this is what they objected to, I also asked John McC. whose side he would be on if Bush refuses to give up power. Ours or has his place at the royal court already been assured. I guessed his title would be, First Garbage Man to the King, he would be promoted over Powell who used to be first but now was Second Garbage Man to the King. I thought that was so clever, it is like when you are writing an essay for a class and you have just crafted the most perfect sentence, but it just doesn’t fit and you just kind of hang there.
Anyone with the guts to tell the GOP to Fuck Right Off and stick it to George Bush and his failed war gets a high five.
Which is exactly why I sent John Kerry an “atta boy!” e-mail that I now wish I could take back.
While he’d certainly have been better than Bush, (who wouldn’t?) I’m beginning to think it’s not such a bad thing that John Kerry isn’t the President.

I don’t get it. Have you watched Keith Ooberman explain this? I believe him. Kerry didn’t need to appologize. Fuck Kerry, he folded his puny presidential tent in Ohio, screwed us all because we wanted him to show that fuckwad bush what a real man is like and he didn’t come thru. Stay focused people. What kerry did is is nothing and only of value to the repugs. Come November, we have a lot of work sending all these fuckers to jail. Check this scene from Platoon out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpOTMfySeb0 You see any rich elete here in this movie? Well I can tell you that this is almost exactly the way it was when I was there. If you believe all the faux outrage because the take on his joke was that he was dissing “the troops” then I say Kerry was calling a spade, a spade and that is a Democratic talking point. Why is it wrong to point out that the rich (republicans) send the poor to war. Always have, always will. And he doesn’t have to appologize for that. If you believe K.O.s explanation, it is the same old right wing talking point. And Hillary, STFU.
Hillary’s comments are one more disappointment from a woman who should know better. They went after her and former President Clinton in the same way. President Clinton, referring to the Republicans, has stated, that’s what they do, they smear and destroy their opponents. He has also said, do not let them get away with it, confront them, as indeed he did on Fox news. So, knowing this history, why would Hillary jump on the Republican smear campaign of John Kerry? She knows very well that Kerry was out there campaigning for Democrats. She knows very well he was shining a spotlight on the failed Presidency of George Bush. She sabotaged Senator Kerry and humbled the Democratic Party out of self interest. It won’t work. If she follows her better instincts, she will avoid this form of political gamesmanship and react to Republican smears with righteous indignation. If Kerry is guilty of bungling a joke, Hillary’s response to it is a really bad joke. But, the joke may ultimately prove to be on her. The people are tired of politicians who lack integrity Senator.
Look people, you are the ones tearing the Democratic Party apart. All Hillary said, was that his comment was inappropriate. Hey it probably was, even if he was RIGHT!
I have a brother who would go off on you in a second if you questioned anyones reason for joining the military.
Stop bashing Democrats just because they don’t agree with you! Most of you people don’t like Hillary because the REPUBLICANs have conditioned you that way.
Funny, I feel the same way about Ms. Hamsher.
If Hillary gets close to being elected she will get some nasty ones.
How do you think she should reply to questions like “how should wives react if their men are drawn to Lewinsky types in their office?”. Obviously this question is suggesting that Hillary does not like oral stuff. How should she get round that? Many women share her feelings on the subject.
I would love to vote for a woman for president before I die.
You could re-elect President Pelosi in 2008.
