George Allen had his divorce records sealed and the DSCC wants to know why. So did Calling All Wingnuts blogger (and previous FDL contributor) Mike Stark. In the citizen journalist tradition Mike has pursued so honestly and relentlessly, and as a Virginia resident he decided to ask his US Senator himself.
Allen is characterizing these questions as "inappropriate" and had his goons assault Mike for asking them. Watch Allen smile with sadistic joy at the results in the YouTube above.

Jim Webb!
If you watch the video that is shown on the news coverage, it looks to have been deliberately cut to make it appear as though the physical manhandling began on both sides. It starts with the Allen goon having his hands on Stark’s arm and then Stark pulling away and pushing to loosen the guy’s grip. The video is pretty obnoxious as it powerfully dilutes Allen and his henchmen’s culpability in the matter.
“Why did you spit on your first wife?” is probably gonna get a reaction. It’s designed that way.
On the other hand, if Allen can’t simply answer, quietly and convincingly, “I never did” then he’s got a problem.
If it wasn’t for Mike Stark’s question about Allen’s use of the N word I don’t know how competative this race would be right now. Mike is awesome. He’s not afraid to ask the questions that reporters should be asking. I can only hope that someone picks up on the fact that he was assaulted for asking an uncomfortable question and not characterize him as some kind of loony.
Rasmussen shows Webb ahead of Allen by 2 points
Sorry about the duplicate.
Thank you, Mike! The more discussion of Allen’s divorce, the better. :)
Cnn on Allen now. Let’s see if the scuffle is covered too.
Something amiss.
No youtube, and no refresh comments button
Allen’s next campaign appearance will be at the maul.

Over at Kos there’s a link to a blogger site with excepts from Allen’s sister’s book where she alledges abuse from her brother.
The indications are there, can it be said, “He just isn’t right?”
punaise, thanks for the link, downstairs, I left an opinion.
Inappropriate?
Maybe someone might want to ask Dear George what he thinks of the sitting vice president telling a member of the US Senate to f*** off.
(Of course, the questioner might want to ask it while standing behind a friendly linebacker or two.)
YES! OMG, the Allen campaign is imploding. A Virgina resident questioning his senator now results in a tackle. This isn’t a football game, it’s real life!
Allen is toast. Crispy, crunchy toast.
During this brief interlude I’d like invite (with Ms. Hamsher’s permission) any Atlantans that want get involded in Steve Sinton’s campaign this week to leave me a quick note.
Thanks.

Hats off for the newest fighting Dem, Mike Stark.
Such wonderful timing, too.

“We all obeyed George. If we didn’t, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. In case you missed this, this is how you fight back.
Yesterday, Senator kerry, in talking about education, said something like, if you don’t get a good education, “you wind up in Iraq.” So the WH/RNC jumps all over him for suggesting only dummies would be part of our armed forces. Here is the MSNBC video of Kerry’s response:

AP writ-up that just showed up on the S.F. Gate site. I love the “just the facts” jack reporting – like the use of “Heckler” in the title ~ I really can’t stand the media as a whole in this country. That’s why I lurk here:
Heckler Subdued at George Allen Event
- By BOB LEWIS, Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, October 31, 2006
(10-31) 13:15 PST Richmond, Va. (AP) —
A heckler who confronted Sen. George Allen at a campaign appearance Tuesday was put in a chokehold and slammed to the floor by three of the Republican’s supporters in an incident captured on video.
Mike Stark, a liberal blogger and first-year University of Virginia law student, approached Allen at an event in Charlottesville, loudly asking, “Why did you spit at your first wife, George?” according to witnesses.
Three men, all wearing blue Allen lapel stickers, immediately grabbed Stark, dragged him backward and slung him to the carpet outside a hotel meeting room, according to video captured by WVIR-TV in Charlottesville.
Stark said later in a telephone interview with The Associated Press: “I am a constituent. I am allowed to ask my U.S. senator questions.”
A new statewide poll conducted for CNN showed Allen’s Democratic challenger, former Navy Secretary Jim Webb, with a slight lead in a bitterly contested race that could help determine whether the GOP retains control of the Senate.
In a Monday posting on “Calling All Wingnuts,” the blog Stark publishes, he hinted that he would attempt to provoke Allen before the TV cameras.
“Im also trying to `Roger and Me’ George Allen whenever I can,” Stark wrote, referring to director Michael Moore’s 1989 documentary in which he repeatedly tried to confront former General Motors’ chief executive Roger Smith about the company’s downsizing.
In August, Stark similarly approached Allen after a speech at a hotel near Staunton, loudly asking if he had ever used a common six-letter epithet against blacks.
That was two weeks after Allen, at a rally, referred to a Webb volunteer of Indian descent as “Macaca,” which is considered by some to be a racial slur.
Must have missed something (hate when work gets in the way) – whazzup with the reference to Christy & CNN?

Well, Blitzer’s still alive, for now. But I bet he won’t be taking any light aircraft lately; and, certainly, grouse hunting is out of the question. Is there a mobile Kool-aid unit that they can dispatch in emergency cases like Wolf’s, or has he kissed the ring again of his own accord?
I can’t really get too upset about him. He’s a MSM guy. He’ll say whatever’s on the teleprompter. I think the problem with Mean Lynne was that some producer thought it was ok to let Wolf ad lib and a leetle humanity leeked out by accident.

Rove is atacking on this; already Bush has spoken and is going to hold a Presser in the net hour against Kerry.
And when Felix tries to distance himself from the actions of his brute squad, remember that George “hrh Humperdink” Allen is on record as having said (about Democrats)that he wished he could “Knock their soft teeth down their whining throats”.
I know Wolfie’s MSM but I just sent CNN a scathing email about their sloppy reporting.
Their presentation completely ignored any of the salient facts about who Mike is, i.e. that he’s a veteran, a law student, and Felix’s constituent.
Told them that it appears as if they subscribe to the “Fox School of Journalism” when they stoop to such lazy reporting.
Go Mike Stark! And who was the young “reporter” I saw this morning getting pushed by Angie Paccione’s vile opponent? Is it Musgrave?
First they frame the dissenters as the enemy, now they physically attack them/us for asking the tough questions…hardly a surprising turn of the character from these hypocrites.

Christy’s going to be part of an election night group of bloggers (from various political perspectives) holding forth at CNN next Tuesday evening . . . details to follow.
Jinny –
Yes, Rove sees an opening with Kerry’s careless first words, but it’s also a risk, because Kerry’s response so far is very hard hitting. It hits Bush in all the right places. And if the President responds, then Kerry can respond again. And this will become the lead news item. So what else gets pushed out?
It’s possible that as the CNN types run the exchanges over and over, they’ll show film of IRAQ in the background. This is not the issue Rove wants Bush to be out there talking about; so even though I expect Bush to try to make this an attack on the troops, Kerry has already signaled that Bush is even more vulnerable about putting the troops in harm’s way and not supporting them with a strategy, enough boots, enough armor, enough allies, enough flexibility, enough realism, enough funding of vets afterwards — If Kerry does this right, he reaches more of the Indies and fires up Dem base; if Bush does this right he just fires up his own base. Raw politics, and it’s all theater; nothing has really changed overall.
After watching the video of Allen’s goon squad hit job, I would say that a criminal battery complaint and a civil lawsuit for damages are in order.
Lou Costello @

Shouldn’t this be stomping on voters?

“hired”? or invited to comment with other bloggers? I assumed the latter.
Off topic, but I just called my Congressman’s office about HR 4239, the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, which severely limits the rights of animal welfare advocates “for any action that can be linked to a loss of profit to any company classified as an “animal enterprise”. An “animal enterprise” would include anyone who produces or distributes animals or products from animals, animal entertainment – including rodeos, circuses, zoos or aquariums, research facilities, pet stores and even animal fighting.
This means that legal activities such as peaceful protests, consumer boycotts, media campaigns legislative proposals, or even telling the public what happens in puppy mills, factory farms, or canned hunting facilities, could be classified as acts of terrorism.”
Hope everybody takes action on this.

How can a candidate claim to be from the “family values” party, then refuse to answer questions about his own family? How can the wife of the vice-president of the “family values” party lie on television about the lesbian scenes in her books (I don’t care if the scenes are in there; but don’t lie, lady)? How can the “family values” party condone the actions of a Congressman who makes sexual overtures to underage pages (I don’t care what sex either is! These people are underage!)? Isn’t it clear to all Americans: this is NOT the family values party!! Attention, voters: this is just a preview of what a future President Allen would be like. Dissent and you will be thrown to the ground — or worse.
Nothing wrong with refusing to advertise on Air America as long as they refuse to advertise on Rush too.

It’s quite funny that the label on the video is “Stomping for Votes.” I assume they meant “stumping,” but maybe someone in that TV studio has a sly sense of humor.
Stepping back, it seems that this election is in the process of flipping perceptions. The Dems are not just pulling ahead; they’re fighting back, punching the cowards and bullies that have dominating the Bush regime right in the nose. Look at Webb’s response to Allen on the novels — he’s the real soldier while Allen was at a “dude ranch.” Now Kerry — amazing rhetoric about how the Bush crowd are not just incompetent and liars; they’re cowards, phony warriers, “creating strawmen because they can’t face real men”; look at what Ms. Benson is doing in Alaska. Now Ned has Lieberman driving cars into brickwalls, and the NATO Supreme Commander says, looking right at you, “this guy Lieberman has made serious mistakes.” Bill Clinton taking on Fox News. The whole theme of “we’re damn mad and we’re not going to take it any more.” Even Blitzer is pissed. Many other examples.
It goes against the CW of every negative stereotype the trad med has pinned on us as being weak, cowardly. And now the label is being pinned on the Republicans.
I think this will work. This is Cleland’s revenge.

I could start a blog and spend the next 2 years trying to draw more than a hundred visitors a day to my site but that would be an uphill battle. Raw Story, Firedog, Talking Points Memo, HuffPo…combined they make a huge national readership, and that is power. I would just like, for once, to see that power put to use.

My reaction too. They just don’t get it. I, who have had bad, bad things to say about Kerry, was shouting with glee as I watched his pushback. But then, Candy Crowley can never see anything positive about what a Democrat does or says.
Oswald: In short, no.
Regarding the heckler: “He was screaming. He was out of control” (according to the theater manager, not a Dean staffer)
and “Franken reacted to being elbowed by the protester, who knocked his glasses off”
Not the same as being tackled for asking a question.

This IS your work.
That other stuff is just moonlighting.

Oh, I so hope it will blow up in their faces too and I bet that Kerry is salivating whilst waiting for Bush to speak because he has to respond otherwise the flipflops will be out again.
The irony is that both Kerry and Bush screw up their speeches quite frequently. If the Godesses are loking out for us, maybe Bush will today.
Rove ratfucked CNBC into showing the entire Clusterfuck speech in Georgia by suggesting that he was gonna attack Kerry early in the speech- when instead he’s holdin it off to the end.
Clusterfuck goin on at the mouth about taxes and terrorists- kinda makes ya puke!

So, I protest against aerial wolf hunting and get a free trip – one-way – to Gitmo?
The media would have us believe Sen. Kerry called the chimp macaca.
If Bush repeating “Just Say No” is Rove’s October Surprise…
that’s pretty damned weak.
Howie’s got the best Dick Cheney on Halloween picture EVER up at his blog: http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/
even without a shotgun, he’s scary shit!
Kerry on Republicans: “They want to debate straw men because they are afraid to debate real men.”
Ya know, I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that these new style republicans (neo-cons and blue-dog dems) are completely sociopathic as Angie @ 36 pointed out.
There are good Republicans (capitol R) like my friend Al (the accountant) who I’ve mentioned before, and people like Pete McCloskey and Warren Rudman, who believe in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution; clean air and water; and helping the unfortunate.
But these people have no shame – they have no conscience.
Check out what Congressman Do Little is doing with robocalls [scroll down to Who Keeps Calling?]
I walked last Saturday to about 100 houses and called about another 100, and got some really good responses which was really great but there were also some rude people, and those that I found to be the rudest were the Yuppie types in the new housing developements, these were the most hardheaded and stubborn. The people most open-minded were the people in their mid-50’s and older and those 18 thru mid 30’s. I spent about 3 hours calling older people at Charlie Brown’s headquarters yesterday and I have to say the older people are the ones who really want to reason why.
The repub’s must be really scared because they’re sending Laura Bush to campaign for Do Little on Thursday.
Anyway, I’m going to scare the wits out of the whole Bush gang and phonebank some more at the local Dem Party office in about a half hour.

“The Senator … he is o.k.”
No, he’s not.
Cleland comes out with a statement in support of Kerry…
Candy Crowley made fun of Kerry drinking green tea, iirc. Never laid a glove on dubya.
I am soooo glad that we have yet another Macaca Moment caught on commercial cameras. Yes, Virginia, Macaca enjoys violence and the abuse of others… he did not protest at all the violence perpetrated upon a first year college student and veteran. No right to free speech sez Felix and he, the big doofus, needs goons to protect him from words.
Jest like his brother boosh.
P.S. YUCK– Cantor on CNN.
Rangel doing serious fighting for us.
Quite a few Vets have called into Ed Shulz and they are offended by Kerry’s comments. Say that no one should make jokes about the military when we’re at war.
Thirty two minutes of Clusterfuck live and interrupted on the Tweety show.

If that fat ass grey hair old goon put a hand on me I guarantee his next move would be off to emerg with a crushed trachea…
He wouldn’t even get to lay a hand on me before he was on the ground sputtering and coughing up blood, struggling to breathe…Then I’d hit the next one…and the next one…
What is it with these lunatics?

Yikes, I switched to Leslie.
Why oh why do we all have to pay for the contant campaigning by this administration. All day, every day, billions of dollars on propaganda. I can’t imagine it’s always been like this.
Oh Christ, Dobbs is pissed at Kerry. I bet he didnt even hear the actual comment.
Look, something shiny!!!!!!
This is a sore point with many vets. During Vietnam there was a program called “Project 100,00″ that took 100,000 men a year into the military who couldn’t meet basic military requirements. The combination of this program and draft deferments for those in college led to a situation where the undereducated were highly over represented in the military. The backdoor draft that we have now is not quite as insidious but underprivileged people still are serving in far greater numbers than the rest of our society. So, was Kerry right? Yes, but I just don’t think it was that helpful in this campaign. Some folks are saying it was a mistake, that he didn’t mean what he said and that he is being unfairly attacked by the Pubs. Others are jumping up and down because he is finally showing some backbone. I guess time will tell. jinny @ 141

The rain is Tess, the fire Joe,
And they call the Chimp Macaca
Republican talking head Matthew Dowd on Hardball saying he thinks Kerry didn’t diss the troops, he just misspoke himself.
Dowd must not have gotten Rove’s text message.

I like your style. Ditto for me. I’ve never started a fight in my life but recently I’ve been upping the ante when debating/arguing w/ winger acquantances. They talk tough and raise their voices(usually start pointing fingers too), so I ask them to SHOW me how tough they are…they always back down. You see, wingers are real ‘tough’ when the fight is a thousand miles away, when its right in front of them…not so much.
Another Repug talking head, now on Tucker…this one did get Rove’s text message.
Can’t stand it. Turning off the TV now.

Dana Bash virtually bashing the racist thug and showing video of Webb pushing Max Cleland’s wheelchair…
angie @ 65
Having seen Jim Webb in action, it was undoubtedly an honor to push Mr. Cleland’s wheelchair. People of service, such as Jim Webb is, are duty bound to offer of themselves. Unlike Allen, they do not need to dress up and act as if they are someone from a story book; rather, the REAL thing works for them. Go WEBB! And please allow me to extend my gratitude for standing up to this monolith of meanness.
Gee, if they put an entire Bush speech on the air, then they should reciprocate with a Clinton speech from Arizona. Right?
Seven people – the “SHAC 7″ have been convicted in Federal Court and were given prison terms undr this unjust act. All they did was run a website.
The Rethug authoritarians destroyed our Republic. Let’s take the Republic back.

Awoken this morning by radio alarm with local yokel ‘news’ guy parroting dem talking points about ’stalking stark’ incident. Then the first article I found was AP/bob lewis breathlessly reporting about serious-sounding ‘chokehold’ occurrence. Uh-oh! Citizen-journalist. Vet!! Ex-Marine!!! It certainly sounded important. Upon closer look, however, including at the video:
Apparent known stalker menacingly charges public servant engaged in campaign of ideas, screaming and knocking into several bystanders. When this ‘trained killer’ refuses to cease his attempted assault, he escalates the physical violence with those justifiably trying to remove him. Finally subdued and shown the door, he mutters ‘punk’.
I think Kerry was wrong and mean-spirited when he maligned our brave troops, stating that servicemembers don’t “make the most of it” (education), don’t “study hard, …do… homework and …make an effort to be smart”. But these demeaning words would seem to apply to Stark.
Stark’s website gives some clues about his depth of committment to and definition of free speech. There he advises one to “study the terrain carefully before you join the battle”, the final step being the ’showdown”. We see in the video Stark studying the terrain as he careened through innocents in his attempt to assault Allen. This (one-man) mob rule is what goes for intellectual discourse for liberals.
It seems that Stark’s only other claim to fame is waving a poster with lurid words on it in front of a live-television camera during family hour. Another example of liberals’ engagement in the realm of ideas. Were those filthy words an ‘illuminative quote” from one of Webb’s porno works? Will Webb have the guts to apologize for these apparent criminal acts of his agent provocateur?
