Another “nag-a-thon” post over at Lamont’s blog - maybe we can help?

Nag-A-Thon Letter to Al Gore

At the suggestion of mrobinsong, I adapted today’s letter and sent a copy to Al Gore in Tennessee. Please join in the chorus! Use this sample letter as the basis of a fax, email, or phone call of your own!

Dear Vice President Gore:

We have learned of Senator Joe Lieberman’s unlawful use of a $387,000 “petty cash” slush fund and we’re very concerned about the impact of that slush fund on the democratic process in Connecticut. Lieberman’s slush fund is a glaring example of the kind of DC corruption that Democrats are supposed to be fighting. If we quietly tolerate Lieberman’s slush fund, clean campaigns and combatting the “culture of corruption” will be nullified as Democratic principles.
…..

Al Gore Contact Info:

Al & Tipper Gore / Office
Nashville, TN 37203-5200
Voice: (615) 327-2227
FAX: 615-327-1323

I will call and fax. Thanks to whoever is working on this……

This is a very bad idea. If Gore worked against Lieberman in CT, it could cause a backlash. Joe could end up with the sympathy vote and Gore would look petty. He won’t do it I hope.

The Lieberman group is suddenly confronted with reality. They’ve somehow manipulated the polls to have you think that CT is for Lieberman. It’s not!

When seen in print from the NYT, the truth that they can’t manipulate, makes them crazy. Lieberman has friends in very low places.

Jane,
Briefly on another aspect of this:
Will someone please tell Arianna that her crusade against Howard Dean and those who are making this an election about middle class values as well as Iraq is misguided? It is clear she has not been out there volunteering for Ned Lamont, as I have. If she knew anything about the Senate race in CT, and crucial races elsewhere, she would know that the middle class is strapped, and that health care, a good job, and other kitchen-table issues are at least as important to them as a far-off war.

If anybody still cares, the way to get the <strike>strikethrough</strike> effect is to type <strike>strikethrough</strike>. Or you can just use the “S” button like other people said.

And why yes, I am pretty close to finishing my PhD in computer science.

Guitar at 186 — I’m going to spell this out slowly. At the time that the comment you quoted was written, there was a carrot and stick approach being applied, and about which I will not elaborate further here. But I want to see if I understand your agitation on this issue correctly: you would like to see Jane and I, nay the entire blogosphere, rise up and smite Sen. Barbara Boxer, a woman not even running for re-election this year, a mere eight days out from the 2006 mid-term elections, wasting precious hours, resources, phone time of our readers, and generally getting into a pissing match on an issue that we have already determined is no longer worth any more pressure and time because she has dug her heels in…instead of marshalling every available bit of leverage and work abilities and every other resource we can muster toward actually winning the election for Democratic candidates, including for Ned Lamont. Is that accurate?

Actually, no. I agree, at this time it would be pointless. A week after the primary, maybe not so pointless. I just don’t understand why, on Aug. 10, I was the only (or so it seemed) FDLer trying to hold her accountable and make sure she would be expected to live up to her word.

Because if so, that’s just not going to happen. I don’t waste my time or resources, and I try not to do so with the time and resources of others. I spell this out here for you and whomever else might be interested for a couple of reasons: (1) Sen. Boxer is not off the hook, she’s just on hold at the moment; and (2) you fight things logically, methodically, and to the very end, and the path you advocate is illogical and would get us nowhere for this election cycle. Whatever beef you have with Barbara Boxer, channel it into something more productive for the moment — because kvetching in the comments about her and requiring a response is a waste of my time, when I need to be devoting resources elsewhere.

Well then, I am certainly willing to be patient until after the election, and your points are certainly well taken.

Just the same, I hope you will remember the words of Ezekiel 25 verse 17. I’m an atheist but this passage addresses the Boxer situation in a way I believe is not only descriptive, but provides some post-election guidance. It’s also my favorite dialogue from “Pulp Fiction.”

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness. For he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

Babs needs to feel our great vengeance and furious anger. That’s all I’m saying. I say again, for emphasis if nothing else, I surely hope in the next four years, a worthy and properly well-heeled challenger can indeed smite Babs down.

But thanks for your explanation. I do appreciate it. Did you try the etoufee recipe yet?

From Dangerstein’s letter:
Instead, the Times’ ILL-INFORMED AND TENDENTIOUS ENDORSEMENT of Ned Lamont reads as if the editors had outsourced the editorial writing to the same crew of blindingly angry bloggers who have teamed with the Lamont Campaign to twist Joe Lieberman’s record beyond all recognition.

If you were professional communicators, instead of blindingly angry bloggers in your parents’ basements, you’d understand HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO USE THE ALL-CAPS KEY to emphasize important points. THE AUDIENCE IS STUPID. YOU CAN MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND BY SHOUTING.

I AGREE WITH SUPERDUDE!!!!!!

A kind person at MLN told me that the ALL CAPS is a stylesheet issue for the links. They don’t exist in the print version. So he is merely shrill, not SHRILL!
