I-Tunes is evil. You should be ashamed of yourself for promoting it. Songs you buy off I-Tunes cannot be played in anything except mac players: that’s like buying a CD from Sony and only being able to play it in a Sony CD player. It locks the consumer into purchasing Apple equipment based on their past buying behavior. It is a horrible thing to be promoting.

For fuck’s sake, promote cross-platform formats.

This is so blatantly false it is not worth responding to but I feel I must for clarity’s sake. You do NOT have to purchase Apple equipment to listen to music purchased from iTunes Music Store. You can listen to the music downloaded from that store on any PC or Mac computer with the iTunes software loaded on it.

If you wish to load the tunes later onto a portable music device, currently the songs are only compatible with iPod equipment made by Apple. However, a European hacker named DVDJohn recently released a piece of code that will eventually allow iTunes released music on other Digital Audio Players.

The reason we promote iTunes is simple: ubiquity. People have chosen iTunes as the most popular digital download store on the Internet because there are more iPod players and users in existence than any other brand of DAP. Why do people refer to any brand of soda as a coke when they are sometimes ordering a Pepsi or an RC cola or even a Coca Cola?

In the future we may promote other digital download services if they make it easier to promote themselves. With iTunes we can link directly to the songs they have for sale and they are the only digital audio service that I am aware of that does this.

The reason this is important is that we feel the artists chosen for the playlist each week should have an opportunity to earn a living. That means providing a link to someplace where the folks who come here can buy the full version of the songs. I will be happy to include direct links to songs for sale from other services as soon as that is possible from another service.

Until then keep the self righteous ranting to yourself, or learn to be a little more polite about expressing your ill conceived and disingenuous arguments by making false arguments that people wont be able to play iTunes songs on their PCs.

i have been wanting to see them live for the longest time!!!

I’m quite fond of The 88 as well. They were here in Portland last month with Matt Costa, but it was the same day as the Oregon – Oklahoma game. I was in Eugene watching the madness unfold in person.

The only shows The 88 have list right now are in the southland. Looks like I have to wait until they travel again.

I want to shake any women who aren’t realizing how much they are being deliberately manipulated by DeVos.
