As we close out the week of fundraising we began last Wednesday for our Blue America page where we asked people to simply give $5, I have to say that we here at FDL, Crooks & Liars and Down With Tyranny were astonished at the amount raised on behalf of the candidates and our Blue America PAC. An incredible $115,000, five dollars at a time, that went to support candidates like Roberto Rodriguez, Angie Paccione and Victoria Wulsin in races that are suddenly competitive.
Thanks to everyone who gave their time and their hard-earned dollars to this effort. It's been a very meaningful way to show up and validate candidates who support a progressive agenda, because support for those values is certainly not going to be forthcoming from the DCCC. It's got to come from the grassroots and the fact that it happened will undoubtedly get the attention of many.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed. Five dollars sure can buy a lot more than it used to, huh?

What was it we were hearing a few days ago from the mainstream media in regards to the Democrats reaction to Foley Republican Pedophilegate scandal? Seems like I remember hearing every media head blathering on about how the “Democrats are going to get backlash” for pushing the Foley story.
I haven’t been hearing the mainstream talkers saying that the Republicans are pushing their attacks too far.

In my opinion, a person like Rush Limbaugh achieves respect and credibility because he has gained power and wealth for those he supports. This does not mean he actually is a credible figure, see history, e.g. Reverend Coughlin, or Joeseph McCarthy.
Attacking Michael J. Fox for his support of stem cell research may well be the moment where Rush Limbaugh and his radical right base have finally shown too much of their ass.

One thing you can do is to support blogs like this one. They provide information and coordination for Democratic candidates. I don’t think you’re forbidden to donate, becuase it’s not an official function of any political party. Perhaps someone familiar with the law can comment on that.
I have no connection with this or any other blog that I’m talking about at the moment, so I can’t speak for them. It’s just my opinion.
