We currently have one Rep. US house Rep up for re-election and a Rep. rev gov on his way due to term limits. All of the rest are blue.
That said, things are not as blue as they appear.

Thanks GSD, In this cycle it is of course particularly good news. The problem with several of these candidates, all of whom are much better than the alternative, is that they will need close scrutiny while serving. Not a progressive bone amongst the lot (except congressman Snyder who is not listed and has 57% approval rating, iirc). A few corrupt players in the mix as well. I hope they don’t mar the party along the way to much. Oh yes, I will vote for all of um.

As a writer for a small newspaper, I can identify with Truman Capote for going on the trip with the Stones and never having written about it. Sometimes you just want to have a good time and enjoy the event without being beholden to an editor back home when it’s all over…

Oh yeah that’s right! The backdoor draft only affects that kid who works in the convenience store and is in the Rhode Island National Guard. But their kids are going to internships, Dartmouth, Vassar, Princeton, Sarah Lawrence etc. What could be more cozy for them?

In a tin-foil hat moment, and with all due disgust at the idea, that would be one way for the GOPers to minimize the competition for their kids, no? I spent 11 years with the National Guard and Army Reserve, and only met one enlisted (and non-ROTC) non-state-school college student. While I certainly don’t support any expansion or even continuation of the Iraq occupation, I do agree that restarting the draft would end this thing in a hurry.

Yea gads! If *I* showed up at the tea partay, they would ask me if I was applying for the “nanny position” I think.

Sorry, I’m not buying it. Stem cells isn’t like abortion, it’s something all but the most extreme of the Republican base are much more conflicted about, and the people on the “pro” side are more motivated. Yes, it takes some attention away from Iraq, but not in a way that’s good for them. Iraq is the number one issue, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only issue, or that talking about any other issue automatically hurts us.

No, I think it was a good thing that MJF made the stem cell ads. They were issue ads and I think Dems should win on issues not on manipulation.

Limbaugh’s attack though is not on the issue of stem cell research. He does not engage Fox or anyone else on the issue, nor does the bulk of the front page coverage deal with the issue.

What Limbaugh has done is change the subject, not only away from the war, but also away from stem cell research and on to “is MJF some kind of fraud or else a dupe?”

Limbaugh has also tee’d up and rachted up interest in the GOP add set to air during the World Series and has attempted to elevate that ad, which merely has clebreties with no direct standing on the issue, to moral parity with MJF who, like Chris Reeves, actually has a stake in the outcome.

Buying airtime during trhe World Series is incredibly expensive. Rush is changing the subject away from the candidates that MJF was trying to endorse, trying the engagae in the locical fallacy known as “poisoning the well” (= “don’t believe anything my opponent says, my opponent is a liar or misinformed”)by saying that Fox is faking it or being used.

Instead, Rush is driving veiwers and media toward the expensive GOP spot, trying to give it moral parity with the Fox spot and CHANGING THE SUBJCT AWAY FROM THE MESSAGE MJF WAS TRYING TO DELIVER.

How many people here can name all of the candidates for whom MJF recorede the stem cell commercial? ALL OF THEM?

It’s a difficult line to walk. I totally respect these folks that are serving but you and I (and the rest of the FDL pack) know they and their families are being abused and misused. I can’t help but think of what we used to called UUUU . . .

Awful how history repeats. & now we are being led by a pack of fools who think Herr Doktor Kissinger is a great guy.
