There is a famous picture of Winston Churchill, looking truculent, with his lower lip curled and extended.

I will bet anything that our Georgie has seen that picture and is consciously distorting his features in order to appear Churchillian.

Unfortunately, it just makes him look more like a chimp.

(Bush on ABC Sunday via Reuters via CNN(dot)com):

“President Bush gently admonished his father for saying he hates to think what life would be like for his son if the Democrats win control of Congress in the November 7 election.

It was the latest sign of possible strain in the relationship between the two men.

“He shouldn’t be speculating like this, because — he should have called me ahead of time and I’d tell him they’re not going to (win),” a smiling Bush told ABC “This Week” in an interview broadcast Sunday.”

I wonder if Papa Bush is scared that if the Democrats gain control of at least one house of Congress on Nov. 7th that not only investigations will finally start into the blatant corruption of his son’s administration, but also investigations might begin into some of the illicit things done by Papa Bush both as president and during the Reagan administrations in the 1980s.

Well, you see, one of the first actions that Baby Bush took when he entered the White House in early 2001 after the Republicans stole the 2000 presidential election was to issue executive orders to stop the “mandated by law” release of his Papa’s papers.

So, Baby Bush immediately suppressed any of the illegalities his Papa practiced from seeing the light of day.

And, furthermore, could this explain why Papa Bush has not spoken out more forcefully about some of the insane actions by his son and other members of his son’s administration?

Blackmail?

In other words, Baby Bush is bound to know what skeletons are in the Bush closet, both his Papas and his own, since Baby Bush was active in his Papas administration over 15 years ago.

So, both Papa Bush and Baby Bush are afraid of what a Democratic-controlled Congress might start doing, turning over the rocks that the Bush family have so carefully placed to try to hide how corrupt they really are.

And since we already know that the Bush family, and their evil friends, are willing to steal elections, then Baby Bush’s seemingly ill-founded certainty that the Democrats will not win on Nov 7th must mean the Bush cabal is certain that all their “fixes” involving the election on Nov. 7th will keep “culture of corruption” Republicans in charge of Congress, thus halting any unpleasant questions from being asked about the utter corruption of the Bush family.

Vote for Democracy on Nov. 7th.

Vote for a Democratic Party candidate.

So, let’s see, how do the key races stack up?
Anybody who wants to fill in current poll standings or impressions should feel free to do so.

House races:

Laesch in Illinois is opposing Hastert (R)

Wulsin in Ohio is opposing Mean Jean Schmidt (R)

Sestak in Pennsylvania is opposing Weldon (R) ?

“good man” Charlie Brown in California is opposing Doolittle (R) for Cunningham’s old seat

Senate races:

Lamont in Connecticut is opposing Lieberman (I)

Webb in Virginia is opposing George “Macaca” Allen (R)

Ford in Tennessee is opposing Corder (R)

McCaskill in Missouri is opposing Talent (R)

As the key states NJ, PA, OH and IL seem go be going well the race has moved a bit further south. We see NC, VA, TN and MO in play.

Out West the Repubs are so concerned about Arizona they’re allowing voter ID to stay in play for this election. I’m guessing the west coast is good for Dems this year. Where else are key seats in play that we should consider supporting with money?

Go egregious! I know about those flashes of insight followed by…Duh, what was I saying. :)

“rat–While it is never imo too late for an October surprise, even in November, and even after the elections during the multiplicity of recounts and contested elections, I do have to say I like your analysis.”

Thanks. When I refer to an “October surprise” I am thinking of some huge event/catalyst, pre-election, that causes people to vote differently then they would have. Otherwise, YES I agree there is still plenty of time to steal the election, it’s a legitimate fear.

In the Wapo, George Allen says now he feels there should be a shift in our policy in Iraq, and that he has different ideas from the President.

And the fact that this happened within 3 weeks of an election where he is hanging on by his fingernails? Surely a coincidence.

Have been trying to get you a link. snl sorry no linky. Print version Sat Oct 22 metro section page C1 “Allen shifts rhetoric on Iraq”

To oppose the president is to embolden the enemy, he said so himself. Why does George Allen hate America?

Middle East fears partitioning of Iraq
By Liz Sly

If Iraq’s Shiites can form their own entity, why not those of northeastern Saudi Arabia, who chafe under Sunni rule? Or the Shiites of southern Lebanon? What about other minorities, such as the Alawis of Syria, the Druze and Christians of Lebanon, the Kurds of Turkey, Syria and Iran? Will they, too, demand the right to rule themselves?

http://www.macon.com/mld/macon.....817937.htm

Ya and we eastern Cherokees, the ones who hid and didn’t go on the trail of tears: We’d like back, well, essentially the entire southeast United States except maybe not Florida. That’s too crazy even for us.

I am SO PSYCHED about Charles Frazier’s new book on the eastern band, Thirteen Moons. I loved Cold Mountain, if my grandfather’s grandfather had lived beyond March 1865 he could have walked home from the Civil War like Inman (not Imman? :) in Cold Mountain.

My Eastern Cherokee brothers and sisters are always welcome in Oklahoma, “of the red man and woman”. We are the same.

Cousin Ok kiddo–

I am STILL salivating over that meal you described. Any leftovers??

My eastern band ancestor was named Anna, at least after she married a white man named Elisha Wright. This was probably not her original Cherokee name but who knows? She was born in NC but I know very little else about her life. I saw the “treaty” that gave cash to a small number of traitors that turned over all eastern Cherokee lands to the government, and the PETITION, signed by thousands of Cherokees who were LITERATE who opposed this egregious action. In the Amerindian museum, DC.

Same here MayDaze. I’ve been spreading out my contributions between those true blue progressives who I like best, but are also in races they can win. I like the progressive women: Wulsin, Rowley, Paccione and my own candidate, Voisin. I like those close to home: McNerney, Brown, Rodriquez, and I like those running against evil (I know hard to choose): Laesch, Sestak, Lamont, Tester. I wish I could give more!

Bay State Lib: It’s too late for much of an Oct. surprise. Lots of absentees have already voted. Lots of Oregonians will be voting this week.

rat–While it is never imo too late for an October surprise, even in November, and even after the elections during the multiplicity of recounts and contested elections, I do have to say I like your analysis.

1. Progressives. (for you, women progressives)

2. People close by. (the baby left on YOUR doorstep. Your responsibility)

3. Fighting evil. (helping people get rid of the truly bad guys)

I’ve been struggling to come up with a way of prioritizing races, and yours is better than anything I’ve been able to come up with. Bowing before the master.

Sorry for the egregious number of consecutive comments here. Not allowed to step on fdl book salon! But I have ideas. The curse of people with ADHD. [Bipolar–different problems, different discussion.] My daughter–the married one–and I are constantly interrupting each other because if we don’t we will forget the brilliant flash of insight that must be expressed immediately, before we revert to our innate confusion. My world, and apparently, my daughter’s.
