Funny thing about Ohio’s blue tilt rover would like to deride… *g*

Our local newsp. editors (Akron Beacon Journal) let us down, big time, last Sunday, by endorsing DeWine for Senate.

I’ve worked since then trying to frame decent, printable language around my disgust so I could fire off a letter to the editor.

Opened today’s edition &, lo & behold!

EIGHT FINE, FURIOUS, ARTICULATE THUMPS upside the editors’ heads, and no doubt there will be more! (NO letters agreeing with the endorsement)

Go Blue! Go Sherrod Brown! - who builds his lead as we speak. Go Jennifer Brunner for OH Secy of State! Go Ted Strickland for Governor!

GOTV & get ‘em counted fairly… And I think we’ve got it headed up and moving right along. ;->

marksb, good luck with your treatment. If you don’t have a juicer, this would be a good time for one. You can throw together some powerhouse drinks that will help you feel better.

hi’ya kiristinejoy…thanks for asking…Ya’ know, I’m OK. I’m on my way to UCLA med center Thursday to get a confirmation of my treatment. At the moment it looks like intensive radiation with some limited chemo, all aimed at my throat. The biggest drag is (gulp) a F’ING FEEDING TUBE ’cause I’ll be too sore to swallow—they tell me I’ll have God’s own sore throat for about two months and some. Oh, and I can’t run for three or four months. That sucks. In fact, the whole thing sucks. But, hey, the docs use the word “cure” multiple times in a conversation, and the care I’m getting is top-drawer (these guys are thrilled at my state of health and fitness), and I’ve got health insurance, so, all in all, it would seem I’m damned lucky.

sending good thoughts your way… for strength as you make a different kind of run… and when it’s over i hope you have gained new friends and new wisdom. please take very good care of yourself…

I know I sound (read?) like a broken record (my eight year-old asks, daddy, what’s a record?) but…anybody here ever been in the control room of a newscast? There are no minds thinking through the impact of ideas, the articulation of clear thinking, the quality of presentation. The director and producer and the corporate bozos who hold the keys are concerned with technical smoothness, looks of the host, pithy sound-bite-type commentators, what audience the guests bring to the broadcast, and if the subject is punchy. They will go with entertaining pseudo-conflict every time, as speeches scare them. People might turn the channel. Advertisers might get bumped. They hate speeches and reluctantly broadcast even the SOTU speech. No, the news is that Clinton gave a speech. Now we turn to a quick word from some know-it-all about the speech or about Clinton, and then four commercials.
Oh, I do go on. Sorry. Lost in the end of a thread anyway.
