What do you expect from a guy who owes William F. Buckley for his senate seat?

Just watched the last half of the debate… haven’t had time to read all the comments… headed to work… but my 2 cents; Joe’s many years as a career politician gives him an edge on polish, etc.; somehow need to capitalize on Schlesinger’s potential to pull republican votes away from Joe; Ned needs to use that old Reagan trick — “there you go again” and smile more. Substance alone doesn’t win these things…

The moderator, Tom Monahan has worked at Ch30 for decades. He is still good friends with John Rowland(R felon ex-gov) Not exactly a Lamont supporter, as is the case with most of the CT media.

Teddy at 220 — there are two more debates scheduled, I think. Any best on whether Lieberman is bitching at his staff for getting him to agree to three debates? *G*

Holy shit…I want Schlesinger.

Just kidding, but he did an excellent, excellent job and can only hurt Catfish Joe. Can’t wait to see the next polls…I’d be suprised if he doesn’t p/u 5-7% of Joe’s base, the Rethugs.

I thought Ned was nervous at first, speaking a little too fast, but he settled in quite nicely as the debate continued and landed some especially hard blows at the end.

Joe’s attempt to innoculate himself against Ned’s talking points at the beginning of the debate seemed fairly effective until Schlesinger kicked his ass to the curb.

I loved Ned’s comments to Schlesinger toward the end regarding fighting the establishment and running on his ideas and principles. Wonderfully effective tactic in isolating the Catfish where he can’t fight.

Most telling point of the debate and wonderfully indicative of Joe’s character: The asshole just would not STFU after he had run out of time.
“Buh..buh.., But, I’m not finished, and I’m Joe Lieberman and I need to tell you more and I,I, I’m scared that I won’t have a job anymore and I NEED THIS!!!

What a fuckboy.

From the New Haven Independent - lol, calls Schlesinger “Crazy Eddie”

The article ends with:

“Schlesinger’s emergence would work in Lamont’s favor. If he can rise to 15 percent of the vote from his current 4 percent standing in the polls, he’d probably swing the election to Lamont.

WORKS TOWARD NED….”

“The ghost of Crazy Eddie was channeled Monday by a man who would be Connecticut’s next senator — and whose name is neither Lieberman or Lamont.

This candidate’s name is Alan Schlesinger. He is the official candidate nominated by the Republican Party to replace Joe Lieberman in the U.S. Senate. He trails both Lieberman — who’s now running as a “Connecticut for Lieberman” candidate — and Democrat Ned Lamont by far in this fall’s Senate race; Republicans are overwhelmingly backing Lieberman instead. Schlesinger has been drowned out by all the attention on the other two candidates.”…
