His goal, if the Democrats take the Senate, is to become the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and serve his fourth six-year term.

After he refuses to endorse a Dem takeover of Congress, how can anyone either reward or trust him with chairmanship of the HSC?

His narcissicism is unbearable. And the national Dems who refuse to excommunicate him are incredibly disappointing as well. Is all politics just a game of Stratego to them? Sigh. I already know the answer.

This is why ordinary people loathe ‘leaders’.

guys, I would REALLY like to find out what happened to the soldier that dressed rumsfeld down on nantional television

soldier to rumsfeld

Q: Yes, Mr. Secretary. My question is more logistical. We’ve had troops in Iraq for coming up on three years and we’ve always staged here out of Kuwait. Now why do we soldiers have to dig through local landfills for pieces of scrap metal and compromise ballistic glass to up-armor our vehicles and why don’t we have those resources readily available to us?

 [thunderous Applause]

who is that soldier and what has become of him?

He was a member of the 278th from East Tennessee. I’m wish I could remember more information about him.

Is it just me, or does it look like Bolton’s trying to take a victory lap?

Peterr @ 83

According to this morning’s WaPo,Rove is still upbeat about the Nov elections. It sounds like Dubya’s trying to create reality again, mandating confidence from the top down.

This line brought a big smile to my face:

In the Senate, Rove and associates believe, a Democratic victory would require the opposition to “run the table,” as one official put it, to pick up the necessary six seats — a prospect the White House seems to regard as nearly inconceivable.

I do not think that word means what they think it means.

I believe the word they were searching for is unpossible. ;)

I think he’s losing big, Christy. And I’m hoping he takes DeWine, Pryce, and Schmidt down with him.

P.S. We’ve learned that Secretary of State is an important position, let’s go Jennifer Brunner!

The event I attended yesterday provided a nice reality check about Ken Blackwell and the religious leaders who support him (some of their words and claims have been posted here).

As much as they like to use the language of faith and values, they are all about preserving “empire” and that’s about as anti-family as you can get.
