Howie Klein has announced that the winner in today's Blue America contest is Charlie Brown, who won by a hair over David Roth.
We'll be using the Blue America PAC funds to run "Have You Had Enough" radio spot in Charlie's district (this ought to make FDLer Nate, who moved from Hawaii to work on Charlie's campaign, awfully happy — I think he was a big inspiration to everyone). Also, many thanks to Aeolus who contributed $5000 so we could run ads for John Laesch in his race against Dennis Hastert. It's been an amazing project and many, many thanks to the folks who have given so generously to make it a success.
And thanks to Howie, who works his proverbial fingers to the bone to make it all happen. Howie, you're a treasure.

Fizz!
Nate! Charlie!
There are way too many Kleins. Are you sure Howie isn’t related to Joe?

Wouldn’t do any good.

Congratulations, Charlie!
We’ll get David Roth’s air time somehow. No one loses when these candidates get another boost from Blue America. You should see the icky smear job Mary Bono’s airing against Roth on tv right now. Cookie cutter “he’s a liberal” stuff. She simply must be taught a lesson.
Nate! Caharlie!
Aravosis has a great post on an 89 year old guy who vows not to die under a Bush administration.
We are with you, Cliff Kelly (even though you live in Columbus)

U R too funny.
Way to go Aeolus!

I have heard that.
How’s the ankle Jane? Hopefully you will be up and tasering soon!
5 Grand. This makes me think of that post back when (yes, a week ago counts as ‘back when’) about how the wealthy on the left are stingy with their dollars, while the money machine on the right has no such qualms.

Big Ditto!
how about a shout-out to Urban Pirate for dropping $500 into the kitty today?
(makes my $30-50 contribs. feel paltry, but hey I’m all about spreading it around…)
Yay for Charlie. He is in the district just over the coast range from us, in the Sacramento valley. We are in Thompson’s CA-01 and he will return in November.
Doolittle — and Pombo — must both be turned out of office on 11/7. Glad to know CA-04 will get to hear SNZ’s little ditty. And, simply breathtaking that the first BlueAmerica district adopted is John Laesch’s, as he may be within 10 points of the Speaker.
What I wouldn’t give to swap Speakers with IL-14 this fall, and send Denny packing!

Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker of the House and John Laesch of Illinois will be a freshman Representative on January 3rd, 2007 !
Congrats to Charlie and Jan Brown.
I worked at the same firm as Jan Brown up until about 2 months ago when she left to work on Charlie’s campaign.
I hope he pulls out a win.

Thank you :)
Actually it was Angie Paccione who came in #2– and very very close to Charlue, David was a dead-heat with Steve Porter for #3

Like the old Boston guys who were hanging on til the Red Sox won.
A big ol’ MAHALO to Nate, who is a big reason a lot of us are interested in the Charlie Brown race.
and let us not forget LindaR, who deserves great thanks for doing GREAT work on charlie’s behalf (check out her diary on dailykos from a few days back).
What a thunderbolt of a headline to “wake up” to. I got kicked in the gut by a Muy Thai fighter I like to call ‘Diverticulitis’ and have been offline for almost a day and a half. I log on, follow an email link and get bowled over by the glaring and radiant sunlight of the liberal blogosphere.
Punnaise, egregious, ValleyGirl, everyone from the BlueAmerica Contest thread… THANK YOU! So much Mahalo to all of you and everyone at FDL. Especially Howie!
Charlie Brown is everything I could have hoped for not just as a candidate but as a Leader and as a Great Man. I have been riding a whirlind of insanity since I arrived from HI and the dramatic and rapid environment change have taken a toll.
A week ago today I first joined up with the campaign at a Veterans Hall – Town Hall forum and watched thunderous applause shake the roof as Max Cleland (a hero in every sense of the word) introduce another hero in Charlie Brown. His answers were unequivocal… His questions were even more powerful… For you West Wing fans, I felt like Josh Lyman watching Matt Santos speak for the first time. It was powerful!
I start going full-swing on Monday and in the meantime, in spite of sitting in a horrible kids chair and working on a computer propped up on boxes with a 5 year old tiny monitor and an unstable internet connection, I will get a bunch of stuff done between now and then. Including: Finishing getting several videos from the debate and the campaign online for viewing and writing up some comprehensive posts about first hand observations and ways people can help us fight this Good Fight.
This race is by no means a lock. It is difficult to describe the zealotry and fanatacism of some of the Republicans in this district. Here are some video highlights to get a full update though.

My campaign commercial about John Doolittle with links to the site in the video.
But we CAN AND WILL win this one! We just need to keep the pressure up and get the National Media eye pointed at the CA-04th as much as the local eye. “Spotlight” anyone?
Thanks again everyone… more to come tonight!
That’s good news. I’m in northern California and know Doolittle to be a nasty piece of work. The odds are against Charlie Brown, but this will help narrow them.
Here’s a link to a post by a Sacramento Bee reader who nurses a grudge against Doolittle. You can decide for yourself what to make of it: Little John.
I would like to acknowledge that there are a number of FDLers who have been working hard to get Charlie elected. Nefarious Leslie, LindaR, teddySanfran, and John in Sacramento, just to name a few.
Charlie is in a tough race and could use the support of Blue America to gain the edge.
Donna Marie @ 28
Ok I’m in.
Donna Marie @

Absolutely Donna. The whole team for Charlie is outstanding. I’ve met a few of them and spoken to most of them and I couldn’t agree with you more. Everyone of them has been inspiration for me to give everything and then some to this race. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in person and then toasting them at Charlie’s victory celebration.
“Proverbial fingers”? Howie doesn’t have real fingers?

Your generousity overwhelms me.

It’s so good to have your energy behind this campaign. Doolittle’s representation for this district is reprehensible. This district deserves a good guy like Charlie. Thanks for your efforts.
That’s my district!
This is good news!

Indeed it is CA-04 voter! Indeed it is. Crooks & Liars just mentioned it as well!
Nate- some discussion of the Doolittle montage over at “couch potato” thread. Maybe you could check in there. ooxxxoo
Hi everyone. I’m redoing the montage vid as we speak (minus the watermark ad.) I’m a political noob but have lived in CA-04 for the past 6 years, and I am now “IN”. If any of you are wondering how a weasel like Doolittle can get elected again and again for 16 years, here is the reason:
