I also agree with LHP @ 103 completely! This is not what WE are about is it? Invading privacy, adult choices/freedoms, etc. It’s a non-issue ET!

I don’t follow Canadian politics as much as I should but I find it difficult to believe that any Canadian government even a conservative one would last long if it proposed true cheney admin policies.

During this summer’s Israeli War Crime Spree our chickenhawk PM, on the very afternoon of the day the Israelis had bombed a farmhouse killing a family of eight from Montreal who were visiting their grandparents, when pressed said he felt the Israeli response to the capture of two Israeli soldiers was “measured.” As far as I know he never even asked for an apology then or later when an unarmed Canadian observer and three of other nationalities and their station was bombed to oblivion. The Israelis refused to allow an impartial investigation and the evidence that was available led Kofi Annan to state that the attack was INTENTIONAL.

For now I’m trying to maintain my hopefully not too optimistic view that Canadian aren’t that stupid!

Hillary has been distributing her war chest, since she faces no meaningful opposition here, so that’s something.

The only problem I find with Senator Clinton is the reluctance to call for a pull out from Iraq. Oh, and it would be nice if the Senator would support putting resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict back on the front-burner. :>)

Kos is reporting Karl asked Foley to stay. Foley was planning to quit the pages and begin lobbying. Rove wasn’t ready to lose a save seat (pardon the expression) and so on. Lovely.

I’ve got a complex theory going that Fitz offered Karl a few more months of freedom, knowing that he was working on articles of impeachment and not an indictment per se, and that there was no point in filing anything with the congress now sitting. The price of Karl’s freedom, in this scenario: burning his own party in the midterms.

It makes as much sense as anything else.

China’s right. This is like a hostage negotiation. Get them talking, keep them talking, slowly increase your leverage by identifying what the hostage takers want, then give them an opportunity to walk back from the brink of destruction. Negative (threat based) leverage is useless and counterproductive in this case.

Them=Bush, or them=North Korea?

Them = NK/hostage takers, applying the metaphor and exprience from the later to the former.
