When Baker was asked why delay reporting their results and recommendations until after the November elections, (my paraphrase): “Jimbo don’t want their recommendations to be political”.

My translation: “Jimbo don’t want his best boys Junya, Darth and Dummy, and their complicit Repug colleagues to be held to account for this tragedy come November”.

“Let me run out the November clock on this one just like I did in Florida 2001, so we Repugs won’t catch one in the neck!”

When it comes to Lee Hamilton, use the “D” lightly. That guy is as bad (worse?) than Joe Lieberman.

Don’t spin this interview as a win, we have to work much harder to get our message out.

After watching KO, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall of Dobson’s study or Robertson’s Green Room. These folks are NOT going to be happy when Kuo’s book hits the shelves. They are not going to be happy at all, and they are going to be ringing Karl’s phone a great deal in the next few days, asking some very pointed questions.

Expect some kind of gay marriage/abortion/stem cell proclamation in the next week. They may be evangelicals and not Catholic, but Dobson & Co are going to ask for some extreme acts of penance, and Rover is looking at bad enough poll numbers to come through with it.

But as fun as it would be to listen in on those conversations . . . hey, is the NSA hiring? . . . the big, BIG, BIG question is whether this will get onto the radar of the run-of-the-mill rightwing pewsitters. If they feel taken, they may decide to sit home come November.

Peterr — I’ve always thought that most of the fundie leaders were at least as cyncial and manipulative as Bush/Rove. They were snake oil salemen dealing their own kind, and I doubt anyone had any illusions either way. They found each other useful and they both used their constituents to aggregate power, influence and money.

Right wing Christians, a group that went overwhelmingly for the Bush crowd is but another example of people voting foolishly against their own interests.

My Aunt, who is a 99 year old native Oklahoman, and didn’t make it past the 3rd. grade (and she’s a very religious woman) had the Christian right and the Bush ‘number’. She voted against Bush twice. She can’t stand the man. And everything he represents.

I wish my elderly relatives in OK were that perceptive. I think a lot of brains got softened with the advent of the so-called Religious Right, because I’m darn sure my dad would never have voted for anyone who dared mix religion and politics.

Not all in my family are perceptive either. Boo-hoo. :-(
