(Hey, everybody.  Jane's a little busy, so I am stopping in for a little afternoon fun!)

I can't stop giggling about this video from The Young Turks.  In it, Cenk Uygur courageously attempts to wrest the truth from Dan Gerstein's locked jaws about Joe Lieberman's characterization of the Foley scandal as a "partisan frenzy".

Gerstein says: Well, that's just another Lamont campaign fabrication.  He was very clear about what he said.

Oh yeah, Danny?

Cenk Uygur: I want to come back to that point in one second, Dan, but let me run the second clip that we have there for you and have you react to this.  This is Joe Lieberman from a couple of days ago.

Joe Lieberman: (on tape)…It's spinning out of control.  It's become, uh…another partisan frenzy in Washington…

C.U.:That is referring to the Foley scandal.  It seems like he's saying that the Foley scandal has turned into a partisan frenzy, doesn't it?

DANGERSTEIN: Yeah, and, and…I'm happy to acknowlege that point, but what he didn't say, um, uh…was that Speaker Foley's role, ah, Speaker Hastert's role was, but that calling for his resignation is overly partisan…

You know, the next time I stick my foot grandly into my mouth, as everyone in the room recoils around me, I will assure them, "Well, it's what I didn't say that counts!  I said Denise was getting fat, but I didn't say she was ugly, too!"

Oh, Dan.  You're such a tard.  Not only did you get caught in a lie, you just shot your own argument in the foot before you even got your pistol out of the holster.  Holy Joe is saying that anyone who wants to see Speaker Hastert held accountable in his role in this Capitol Hill child sex ring is engaging in a "partisan frenzy", but THEN Dan goes on to maintain that no one in the Democratic Party has officially called for Hastert's resignation and neither has Joe.  Joe has joined everyone else in Congress in officially calling for the investigation to be pushed off on the (glacially slow, entirely neutered) ethics committee.

Gerstein: I don't know of anyone in the Democratic Leadership who's called for Hastert's resignation.  Essentially (Lieberman) has taken the same position as Nancy Pelosi!

So, uh, then where's this partisan frenzy?  Dan, DAN!!  Listen!  If you're going to make strawmen, you can't rip out their stuffing in the same breath!  It's not just bad form, it's worse than not saying anything at all!

I've said it before and I feel fairly confident that I will say it again.  Sending out DANGERSTEIN to handle your campaign's perception management is like trying to change a diaper with a Molotov cocktail.  It doesn't do anything about the shit, and now everything's on fire!

I wish we had Gerstein on camera during this interview.  It would be funny to watch his eyes bugging out as he realizes that he's hoisting himself on his own petard.

When the movie of this gets made, I want Chris Kattan to play Gerstein.  As "Mango".

"Would you tell a rainbow not to shine?  A bird not to fly?  Then you cannot tell Dan Gerstein not to spin and lie!"

Sigh.

What are we going to do for fun after November when Gerstein's out of a job?
