I see I have competition in the “Lieberman Poems” Dept. Had I realized there was a contest, I would have entered sooner. This was originally published as a comment on Ned’s site & later featured on the Emboldened blog.

Where Have You Gone Joey LieberMee?

I thought that I would never see
A former Dem like Liebermee,
With vanity deep as the royal gorge
Just like his pal, the Royal George

A man who mocks the people’s choice
Unable to hear the people’s voice
He thinks tall buildings he can bound
While in George’s pocket he’s normally found

And when the Senate calls a vote
It’s George’s programs he’ll promote
That is if he’s even there at all
Old No-Show Joe most oft awol

He whines his opponent is nasty & mean
For exposing Joe’s record that’s not so clean
With old pol habits so hard and crass
He wouldn’t know truth if it bit him on the ass

I tell you this without any jest
To his campaign staff, the sun rises in the west

Joe has leveraged his name recognition from 18 years and especially Gore selecting him as a running mate. What makes Ned’s strategy so tough is that Joe apparently is holding onto some Democrats and skimming off 95% of the GOP vote. If Schlessinger can take some GOP votes back, that will really help. Ned has to try and swerve to the middle to woo back the Dems who are sticking with Joe. Hopefully, Bush’s latest plunge in his JAR will help that.

Can’t stick around, need to finish some contract work this morning before I can slack off and play. Just thought I’d stop in, give a shout-out, and say thanks to the folks who liked my, um, “position statement” on Joe-nertia.

ralphbon’s probably not online here in FDL, but I want to say thanks for the reminder about “Get Your War” on; damn, the last month’s strips are really gritty-funny, especially that last one!! phew, I needed that laugh, even if it was a sorry one.
