As I understand Speaker to be Nancy, she is one fantastic Italian Cook, and when she ran for Minority Leader, she campaigned by serving up major league Italian Dinners before the discussion of leadership began.

So I think it would be a wise move for her to move into a TV Kitchen, where a good many people can sit around a cooking island, and she ought to offer a lesson on one of her better dishes, all the while talking politics. Afterall, that’s where lots of people talk politics, and it is where youngsters get their first lessons. I am frankly so sick and tired of someone behind a podium, nearly hidden behand a bank of mikes, I think it is time for a “I am Nancy Pelosi, I do both food and politics, and believe one goes with the other.” It would end the effort to paint her with “fear paint.”

The energy is missing that we had pre-primary. the momentum is sluggish.

We need some Ass kickers here. We need the blogs and the people invigorated. Where is the KISS float? That was a terrific reminder of what Lieberman was all about.

Bergs – I beg to differ. Although it was great having Jane in CT following the campaign up close – and national blogs focusing on it – the campaign was fueled in large part by Connecticut grass roots.

Regarding lack of energy – please keep in mind that Campaign staff and volunteers have been working slowly and steadily on this campaign for well over six months. Lamont kept the same folks who worked on the primary – unlike Lieberman – so they’ve had very little rest for a long time. People are exhausted – not lacking in enthusiasm or committment. Quite frankly, much of campaigning is slog stuff.

Let’s get this in perspective. It was highly unusual that Ned was made a super star and got the press he got during the primary. Obviously it was because it is highly unusual to unseat an incombent Senator. Quite frankly, this is just another Senate campaign, fueled by enthusiastic volunteers. It can’t always be the flavor of the month.

Aggressive Interrogations Ineffective, Legally Risky, FBI Warned Military at Guantanamo

WASHINGTON Feb 24, 2006 (AP)— FBI agents repeatedly warned military interrogators at the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, that their aggressive methods were legally risky and also likely to be ineffective, according to FBI memos made public Thursday.

A senior officer at the prison for terror suspects also “blatantly misled” his superiors at the Pentagon into thinking the FBI had endorsed the “aggressive and controversial interrogation plan” for one detainee, according to one of the 54 memos released by the American Civil Liberties Union.

Coz (if around) – I didn’t mean to be a snot and I know that’s how it came out.

I know that Mora and naval investigators have gone on the record, flat out, that abuses were taking place. I’m sure the FBI had people who may not have been thrilled and pulled back, but I don’t really see any flat out revelations and on the record castigations. And it’s a bit late now it seems.

Besides, they don’t have to worry about torture testimony much anymore, do they? Between Fitzgerald’s Salah case and Comey’s Padilla, as well as Arar and el-Masri – it’s a pretty clean set up now. You kidnap and ship for torture, that’s a state secret. You use the torture tesitmony for convictions – that’s case law now in those two settings.

I’m not tryiing to be obnoxious – I’m just very sad. No, I don’t see many good guys and the FBI refusing to make a very public reaction to the fact that we were kidnapping and abusing hundreds of innocent people at GITMO, but they did refuse to involve themselves in some of it, doesn’t really fill the “good guys” tank. It’s in that hold your breath, sitting right below empty, spot for me. Hopefully, you and a whole slew of other people have milesthatmayvary.

I know you’re bummed out about the whole mess. Me too. I can’t remember where I read it but the FBI at Gitmo suggested to HQ at one point that a) They weren’t happy with the way the interogations were taking place (and weren’t involved) and b) Suggested to HQ that they (the FBI) should pull out of Gitmo because of it.

Strange.
