Drugs have always been a thing in American culture — pot, especially has been associated with the high school set.  Although I hear, its stock may be going down with the kids.

Funny how some drugs fall in and out of favor. NPR had a report on high school freshmen smoking less pot but popping more pills, mostly painkillers. So much easier and safer to score on-line then driving down to the hood. Waiting for your man is actually waiting for your Fed Ex man these days. Finally watched Walk The Line the other night. Those rockabilly boys sure liked their bop pills, which have been replaced by crystal meth in the poor white folk world.

I love how Rock Hudson mentions acid twice in the YouTube clip above. Does anyone take acid anymore? The song sings about the good old days when people were not getting high on drugs, yet in the real good old days laudanum, cocaine, opium and absinthe were all "over the counter".

I'd love to hear The Spin You're In in the comments section.
