Angie (72), your link answered questions I had about Ashleigh Banfield being on Court TV where she frequently said she isn’t an attorney. She and the Ford guy never seemed anywhere near a match. Now that I know the back story, I will view Michael Savage with a jaundiced eye.

How great it would be to have a BS-proof Ashleigh Banfield as presidential press secretary. That was quite a speech she gave in Kansas. She has my admiration. Let’s keeep her in mind.

jinny @ 94

Rayne @ 26

I caught the very end of the PBS interview. A man was saying that it was too expensive for the U.S. to try all the suspects, to bring them here from overseas etc. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and waited to hear the interviewer say John Yoo.

There’s a blog up at Kos which covers this interview:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/4/134126/935

PBS worries me - so many people trust what they hear there 100% -we have to get rid of the top heavy board of R’s asap.

“Too expensive,” huh?

John Warner’s appalling rationalization for eliminating habeas corpus (at least in response to my letter about the earlier Graham bill, I assume it’s the same for the recent torture bill) is basically that it eliminates the inconvenience of those terrorists abusing our justice system with frivolous claims. You know, the same false argument they make about medical malpractice. Talk about hitting a fly with a sledgehammer!

The man used to have a brain and a conscience. I don’t know what happened to him, but it just makes me sick.

(Partial re-post from late last thread.)

I did some checking this morning based on a nagging question, “how often is pedophelia happening with Republicans?” I googled for about 15 minutes, and in the process became genuinely frightened and puzzled..from the sheer numbers of cases I found. This is way, way bigger than I thought.

Maybe I’m dense, but I’d like to hear theories about why the Republican Party apparently has a much bigger problem with pedophelia than the Democratic Party.

This is a series and defines the authoritarian mindset. I think that has a LOT to do with your question.

A very real candle, cream and yellow, with a sweet fragrance, just now lit in your honor and in hope, burning now in New Zealand. The very best hopes for your whole being, body and spirit, are coming to you from this corner of the world.
