The only bombshell in this presser is the atty’s closing line in his prepared statement: Mark is a gay man.

How is the fact that Foley is a gay man a bombshell? If he had been pursuing underage girls, I would think he was a heterosexual. So what. It’s not relevant.

No, it’s not relevant. But this way, it highlights Foley’s problem as the fault of liberal/PC/secular humanist/queers. And when Foley emerges in 30 days from that “whack-your-mole-straight” rehab center in Clearwater, he’ll be cured of teh gay “mental defect or disability.”

O.S.: I couldn’t agree with you more. Unfortunately, most conservative voters don’t get as riled up about piddly things like the Constitution as they do about SEX. We’ve already lost too much by naively believing that our elected leaders had principles. This time, we need to do whatever it takes to win.

TRex #42 — thank you for sharing that, although I’m sure the episode isn’t a pleasant memory. It helps us keep this in perspective.

What bugs me is that it takes this all blowing up like this before Foley gets “treatment”, if indeed he has issues. As if nothing else in his life didn’t tell him to take a long sabbatical and get help…just sounds fishier than hell.

Can you effing believe this? Foley’s lawyer first used the “he’s an alcoholic” but that didn’t work because no one ever saw him drink. So, NOW it’s all because he was sexually abused by a clergy member as a child. Next, I bet he’ll be on Oprah.

Her ratings aren’t so hot, either. Think she’d have him on for a public apology?

I’m late to the party, but I was listening to NPR on my way home today, and when I heard this quote, I couldn’t help but notice the dramatic pauses. This is what my ears heard from the above quote from Bush.

“I know Denny Hastert..I meet with him a lot.. He is a father..A Teacher..A coach..
..Who cares about the children of this country.”

The pauses really made me reflect that last line even more so .. “who cares about the children of this country.”

This has stirred up my past, also. God bless, brother.

They are repugnant beyond words and it is time to put words aside and let them ride out the events of their action.

Meanwhile, back on the ranch, the events of 7/10 are becoming lost in the noise and I am suspicious that this is, in fact, by some design.

Foley is gone; Hastert and crew may go, they may not, but they are pawns at best in this political game compared to Rice and she is a knight; a knight who needs to be removed from the board.

Don’t loose sight of the goal. The endgame is near and Rove is a difficult opponent; but he has over committed and can not draw back in time for a concerted attack against his king. And his king is only partially protected by his knight (Condi), his bishop (Gonzalez), and his queen (Cheney). If any one of the three falls, the king’s tripod topples and he is revealed as the drooling fool.

Play this gambit if you must, but play towards the endgame and play to win. There will not be another chance like this. The queen will see to that. We will be in Iran before the year is out.
