OT, Bill Clinton will be the guest of Russert on Sunday. The program will be on at a new time–believe it’s 1:00 p.m. EDT but Brian Williams said to check your local listing. Williams snarked about Clinton’s “meeting” being at the same time as the UN conference. “What’s going on?” Like, how dare he upstage our boy Bush. No mention that Clinton is trying to do good at his meeting while Jorge is yodeling “War” at the UN. Russert must be reviewing Clinton tapes for the past 30 years for his “gotcha’s.” I think I will watch this match-up and hope Clinton does us proud.

Sally @ 134

Christy (132), I’m afraid Bill’s followers will think if Lieberman is good enough for Bill, he’s good enough for them and vote Lieberman for Lieberman. We don’t need that. Clinton could be using all the face time he is getting during his Global Initiative conference to push for Democrats instead of faithfully giving GWB big credit for small things. I’ll count on FDL to get Bill straight. Thank you.

All A*PAC, all the time. Both Clintons.

AZ Matt (138), rest assured Secretary of Education Spellings is “fixin’” to get right on correcting all those crimes. Another of Bush’s cronies who had no idea crimes were being committed under her nose. I don’t think she would pass the “Path to 9/11″ Scholastic bamboozlement smell. Are almost all Republicans crooks or are almost all crooks Republicans?

katie Jensen (139), I do not see in the King transcript that Clinton said he is no longer supporting Lieberman. Did he say that somewhere else?

In the interview, King asks him if he is supporting Lamont, and Clinton says, “I am but….” and then, “Connecticut is an unmitigated blessing for Democrats because Lieberman has said if he wins he is going to vote with us to organize the Senate.” (See my 120 above from the transcript of the interview.)

I watched the Larry King interview with Clinton and he clearly said that he was supporting Ned Lamont. He said that the democrats need to win and he will do everything he can to make that happen. He is no longer supporting lieberman.

Hi Folks,

Hubcap thieves are bad enough but stealing candy from children is right up there too!

From the AP:

A scorching internal review of the Bush administration’s reading program says the Education Department ignored the law and ethical standards to steer money how it wanted.

The government audit is unsparing in its review of how Reading First, a billion-dollar program each year, that it says has been beset by conflicts of interest and willful mismanagement. It suggests the department broke the law by trying to dictate which curriculum schools must use.

It also depicts a program in which review panels were stacked with people who shared the director’s views and in which only favored publishers of reading curricula could get money.

In one e-mail, the director told a staff member to come down hard on a company he didn’t support, according to the report released Friday by the department’s inspector general.

“They are trying to crash our party and we need to beat the (expletive deleted) out of them in front of all the other would-be party crashers who are standing on the front lawn waiting to see how we welcome these dirtbags,” the Reading First director wrote, according to the report.

This seems to be a repeating pattern in all aspect of the Bush administration. The Robber Barons of old can’t hold a candle to this bunch.

Or, rather than hub caps:

Granted that Mark Furman is a racist,

Still OJ is guilty of double murder.

Both facts can be true in the same universe.

Pete at 135 — thanks so much for the offer, but I’ve gotten a copy now (if I can only get time to give it a thorough read…). Really appreciate it, though. :)

Christy at 32: This is probably epu’d but I have a PACER account and would be happy to pull up whatever you want. Please let me know exactly which case and which ruling, I have not had time to read the whole thread. Sorry to be so late getting to the party but I’m fighting a 14 hour time difference from EDT.
