And, so frustrating, but I remember reading an article about Jeb Bush’s connection in approving off-shore gambling boats– interpretation: for the purpose of money laundering, but heck if I can find it. But, seems not unconnected to what the American Commerce Bank might be up to.

I too was tricked and left in the hands of these abusers in 1986. After a couple years of light rebellion and growing up in a abusive, dysfunctional family I was kicked out/ran away from home(to get away from the abuse, age 13). My parents, after seeing Straight Inc. praised on the 0prah show, by The Princess, our president and speaking w/ school counselors, coaxed me back home by offering to take me shopping for my B-day (14) and the family would all seek counseling. So, nieve as I was, I went back home thinking Great! Finally my Dad wouldn’t hit me anymore and the whole family would get along. Relief!

So off we went, to shopping. We get to a place that looks like a giant warehouse and a lady calls us back (a lady who still works in this field in Va.)She takes us to a tiny room, and locks the door. She asks, “Do you know where you are?” I answer,”Yes, at a wholesaler for clothing stores.” She responds,”No, you are in a Drug Rehab” I exclaimed, “What am I doing here, I don’t use drugs!” I try to leave, but several more teenage girls abruptly arrive in the room and block the door completely. Then the intake starts, as Alex had described. Asking questions so bizarre, I truly had no answer for them. I refused to sign any papers, still to this day I believe I never signed any papers. They told me, it didn’t matter, because my parents had signed me in. I was staying. My parents were escorted out. After that day, I spoke my parents for a total of approx.2 hours (5ish minutes at a time)for the next 6.5 months, and only during “Withdraw” meetings.(Which were done over the phone more times than not..and always in the presence of executive staff)I requested a “Withdraw” for a whole array of reasons, often citing Straight was an abusive place, every single day I was allowed. (I believe it was every 5 days, I could put in a request)

See, I never left First phase. I refused to participate entirely. I refused to admit to things I had never done. I refused to abuse other kids. So my punishment for this was to remain “Frozen on DAY ZERO” This is a horrific sentence in Straight Inc. I had to live 6.5 months at a fresh age of 14, on Consequences. 30 sec showers (if permitted by my oldcommer, No extras-of anything(sugar, shampoo, soap, Toilet paper, personal hygiene items, etc) I had to say before I did anything..”By the courtesy of my most humble host home, may I..” I was kept awake for days on end, made to stand against the bedroom wall (my oldcommers taking turns sleeping), I was not allowed to wear anything to bed except a T-shirt(so I couldn’t run away through the alarmed and screwed shut window ) Several girls were forced to share beds, Food was very limited to Misbehaviors..The list goes on. I was refused to use the bathroom after we “were locked and alarmed into the host bedroom”, Instead the Host Mom put a mop bucket in the room for me to use in front of several other clients every night.

At the building everyday, I refused to “sit up and face forward”, So I was restrained in my chair every single day, which Always ended up w/ 5 teenage inmates/Clients sitting on all of my extremities and across my chest/back (depending if I landed on the concrete tiled floor face up or down). If I tired to make any noise of crying or asking them to stop hurting me, my mouth was violently covered, making it hard to breathe. I was refused Any School or education the entire time. I was forbidden to read or speak w/o permission. I asked to see an attorney and social services repeatedly and told I had NO RIGHTS. I was forbidden to use a telephone or write letters. I never was allowed to stand w/o a phaser holding my beltloop.

We were moved w/o notice from host home to host home. Even our parents could not know where we were spending the night. That was the rule.

Our clothes were rarely washed, as they moved from host home to host home almost daily or if you were lucky weekly. Sometimes, we never saw many of our own clothes again. Although, one of “My special” consequences was to wear this white sweater everyday that I remember, so the staff could stand me up and tell me I looked like a useless marsh-mellow sitting there doing nothing(because I refused entirely to comply). It was never washed, that I can remember. I had to wear it everyday, no matter the weather.

It was a several times day occurrence that staff would stand me up, degrade me, call me names.. THEN have others kids “Motivate” to get permission to stand up and confront me also. Confrontation at Straight consisted, for me, of.. Staff spitting and screaming in my face while 2 or more girls held me up and/or against the front wall while staff and then other clients were taught/praised for standing less than 6 inches from my face screaming degrading things at me, spitting in my face and telling me my parents and society didn’t want me, because I was a DRUGGIE WHORE.

Ironically, the drug test they said they did at Intake must have come out clean. I didn’t do drugs, Period. All I was, was a teen from a dysfunctional family who was running away to escape the abuse at home.

The one event in my life that seemed to carve my entire future is/was Straight Inc. 6.5 months doesn’t sound like long, but on DAY ZERO in was an eternity. I have long standing medical problems, which went untreated while in Straight..which led to irreversible consequences. Many of us still suffer 15-30 yrs later from PTSD. Many of us need closure on a time in our life, we can not explain to anyone except other survivors. We are a suffering generation. If you are so inclined, please take a moment to g00gle Straight Inc. Does seeing how this man, Mel Sembler, effects World Policy scare me? Well, heck yes! I am scared beyond what any non-survivor could possibly understand. This man is pure evil, and I know what his form of therapy and policy will do.

Sorry, that is long. I could go on forever telling you the Horrors of Straight Inc and what Mel Sembler et all have done to thousands of children, right here in America. And they are getting away with it!
