Before I start this update about what’s been going on with some of our Blue America candidates, I want to announce the winner of our competition last week for a pair of tickets to the People For the American Way awards ceremony featuring Ambassador Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame and Green Day. Ann Reinhart, a Firedoglake community member, won the drawing. I can’t wait to meet her!
I have another pair of tickets for the October 10th event. As I write this today, the Blue America PAC has collected $5,140.13. Whomever takes us over the $10,000 mark– which could even be done with one donation since $5,000 is the maximum allowable for a PAC (different from a congressional candidate)– gets the pair of tickets for the Los Angeles event. Donations, whether $5, $50 or $5000– or anything in between– are most welcome and can be contributed here or mailed to Blue America PAC, P.O. Box 27201, Los Angeles, CA 90027.
A couple of campaigns have decided to go ahead and finance radio spots on their own and I do believe "Have You Had Enough" will be working its magic for Coleen Rowley and Jerry McNerney in the next couple weeks, as well as for Stacey Tallitsch in Louisiana.
Local blogs have been using the animated videos as fast as Mike turns them out and yesterday Jen from John Laesch’s campaign sent me this. And several campaigns have submitted the videos to local TV news stations for those ad analysis segments they do on the 10 PM news. WCCO in Minneapolis gave Coleen’s campaign some free airtime.
I was very excited today when CREW released it’s brand spanking new update on the 20 most corrupt members of Congress (plus 5 up-and-comers). The report makes for some wonderful reading and I am very glad to announce that CREW has included several Blue America targets, including Conrad Burns (MT), John Doolittle (CA), Dirty Dick Pombo (CA), Curt Weldon (PA), Don Sherwood (PA), Dennis Hastert (IL)– plus two examples of corruption run amuck who will be added to the Blue America target list in the next few weeks: John Sweeney (NY) and Marilyn Musgrave (CO). [Note: I wish he had a viable opponent, but Jerry Lewis (CA) is the single most corrupt person in the U.S. House and the Democrats have no game plan for challenging him; drives me nuts!] Two of CREW’s original "Beyond DeLay" Republicrooks are no longer on the list — Cunningham and Ney — since they have both either already pled guilty or have entered an agreement to do so.
Of course, the overall thrust of the Blue America campaign is a call for change — time to throw the rascals out.
This hasn’t stopped the always reliably deceitful Republican Party to try to co-opt it, lamely, as their own message. On the one hand, you have a kook like Do Nothing Senate Majority Leader/health care destroyer/cat killer Bill Frist claiming today that, despite the GOP controlling all the committees (usually with an iron hand), the agenda, the rules and having a majority to pass whatever heinous bills they want to, the reason the 109th Congress accomplished so little and is held in such low esteem is because of… the Democratic minority.
On the other hand, you’ve got a Rove-run campaign in Iowa’s open first congressional district, where Blue America candidate Bruce Braley is outpolling extreme right wing loon Mike Whalen, in which the rubber stamp wannabe is trying to convince voters that voting for him will "send the folks in Washington a message for change." Apparently, voters in Iowa like the idea of sending the time for a change message to Washington– but realize that voting for far right Republican nuts like Whalen is a vote for more of the same.
After lots of foot-dragging Republican rubber stampers have been forced into debates with their Democratic challengers, although in all cases they are trying to have short (30 minutes), one-time-only debates since they are eager that no attention be called to their indefensible voting records.
After George Macaca Allen’s terminally inept campaign stumbled into a high profile debate with Democratic challenger Jim Webb on Meet the Press 3 days ago, a despairing far right blogger on Hugh Hewitt’s GOP propaganda site wrote, "For conservatives wishing for Allen to retain his seat, their best hope is that Virginians were otherwise occupied this morning or that the state’s NBC outlets were having technical difficulties…Webb outclassed Allen in every aspect of the clash." Unlike the hapless Macaca, Repugs know they have nothing to offer at debates. This was amply demonstrated when rightist hack John Kline met up with our Coleen Rowley at a debate at the Minnesota state fair.
Upstate New York’s Times Herald-Record ran an interesting piece on John Hall’s stand on impeachment, featuring our Blue America chat with him last week! As Siun mentioned when she sent me the story, "It’s neat to see FDL treated with respect — a source of info on candidate not ‘Hall hung out with rabid lambs and said…’"
We have less than 7 weeks to get our message out and take back Congress and stop the Bush Regime from further deprecations.
What can we do as individuals? We’ve raised $197,000 as of today for our candidates — the combined efforts of the communities that have grown up around Firedoglake, Crooks and Liars, Music For America, and Down With Tyranny. Obviously I’m hoping we bring in a lot more. And, obviously, money is only one way to impact the direction our country goes.
I know Pach has written about the Do More Than Vote campaign. I want to reiterate the importance of that and remind everyone about the opportunities it offers us.
DMTV now has chapters in 30 different cities and regions across the country. From California to New York to Michigan to Texas, they’re making it as simple as possible for progressive volunteers to get active. They’ve been gathering all the available volunteer opportunities for each city, organizing them by time commitment, and doing their best to match volunteers with campaigns’ needs. These guys are totally worth checking out and DWT readers who have been in touch with them have told me it’s a great system and that it’s working.
So no special guest today. We can talk about anything at all relating to the midterms. I’m always eager to hear your suggestions.
And, I want to tell you that Saturday we’ll be featuring an old pal of John Amato’s, Tony Trupiano, the Democratic challenger to hack incumbent Thaddeus McCotter (MI-11). Those of us who have heard Tony doing his radio show already know what a powerful and incredible voice he has been for progressive change. Getting Tony into the Congress would be the political equivalent of an 8.5 earthquake going off under the asses of Bush and his disgraceful rubber stamp sham-legislature. Don’t forget– right here at 2 PM (EST).

Hmmm … only one comment? Are the comments broken, or is everybody back in the last thread?
not sure, but I’m glad you showed up
Go Blue!
Howie!
When you put a sign on the freeway, people will read it until someone takes it down.
http://freewayblogger.blogspot.com
Cardboard, paint and something to say: that’s all it takes.
I left a note at the last thread that you’re here, so we should have some more visitors shortly.
In the meantime, it’s always a good time to say “Thanks, Howie!” for your tireless efforts on behalf of Blue America – and just America.
One thing I am definately interested in finding out from the folks who have been keeping up with the Blue America candidates, is which ones are people most impressed with. We’re going to have to decide where to deploy the PAC money we’ve been putting together and, although there are many considerations that will go into it, one major one should be how community members feel about the different candidates. Anyone have an opinion?
Thank YOU Howie. And keeping it in the FDL family, our own LindaR is coming as my +1.
20 days and counting to figure out what the hell I’m wearing…
(fingers crossed this comment posts with all the sludge bottling up the internets today).
Ann & Linda, you go girls!!
I hope Jerry McNerney answer Pompous’ ad on radio immediately. Pompous has been running ads on radio accusing McNerney of double flip-flopping on every issues. Hopefully, Jerry has some money to get on the air SOON…..
Ann Reinhart @ 9
OMG!!! This is amazing. We picked a runner-up in case you couldn’t go. It was Linda!!!!! This is really beyond… I mean imagine that Twilight Zone music is playing!!!
Howie @ 8,
I’m pretty impressed with Vic Wulsin of Ohio. I just really enjoyed her visit here and I think she’ll make a great congresswoman.
Margot, she’s way high on my list and I know Jane is very enthusiastic about her too
Reading the article in GQ takes quite some time. It is a compendium on the Lamont/Lieberman campaign. I guess many still have their noses in it. It totally affirms Jane’s “Daily Ned” reports.
I was pretty floored by Robert Rodriguez last week too.
From Howie’s blog
Love the comment from Olbermann.
Thanks for bringing up Webb and for all you do, Howie! He did a fine job at the Fairfax debate too, imho. Honesty and gravitas trumps smarm and prevarications!
Webb just did a bang up job with Tweety who wanted him to respond to questions about Macaca’s “revelation” yesterday and allegations by Wadhams that he and his campaign are anti semitic. He said he did not know Tweety was going to ask him those questions and that Wadhams is a practitioner of Rove tactics and actually worked with him at one time. He said that these questions were irrelevant to the campaign. Not only would he not take the bait, he took the high road and steered straight to Iraq and his ideas to get us out. He was serious, measured and believable. My favorite moment was when Tweety asked him ‘do you think Allen is a honest man?’ He responded with– Senator Allen has a record and people can judge him on it.
BAM!
Howie, I confess I haven’t had time to track all the campaigns. I would prefer to spend the PAC money where it could have the most impact – I know all of our races are selected with that in mind, but some of them are also garnering more support than others. For example, Sherrod Brown (and Ohio generally) are obviously important, but they’re also expensive, and perhaps (I don’t know – we’ll find out at the end of the month) Sherrod has had his fundraising accelerate.
Of the races I’ve paid attention to, the ones (besides the ever-wonderful Ned) that I’m most excited about include McNerny, Charlie Brown, Donna Edwards, Wulsin, Laesch, Winograd, Massa, and Robert Rodriguez. Yes, I know that includes 3 from California, but my fair state also has some of the worst of the worst of Abramoff’s BFFs, so I think it’s fair.
Maybe some of our Blue America candidates can use this speech that peterr wrote here on an earlier thread:
[beginning of peterr speech]
Let America stand for openness, not secrecy.
Let America stand for justice, not vengeance.
Let America stand for security, not fear.
Let America stand for humane treatment, not torture.
Let America stand for debate, not mindless chatter.
Let America stand for the needy, not the greedy.
Let America stand for checks and balances, not monarchical authority.
Let America stand for freedom, not tyranny.
Let America be America.
Again.
[end of peterr speech]—can you tell he’s a preacher? :)
I propose one change:
Let America stand for debate, not calling opponents unpatriotic.
That might work better than mindless chatter.
My dream is that Americans wake up from their fog and defeat every single Republican running in November. Allen is one of the worst of the worst.
Egregious, I like that change you’re suggestion. It flows better too
egregious @ 20
Great speech by peterr. I have one slight amendment to your proposal:
Let America stand for honest debate, not calling opponents unpatriotic.
That’s one of my personal favorite dreams too, Howie! :>)
Hi Howie. You should be getting an email from me shortly re: Carol Voisin. I can’t express how thankful we are of your offer, The Team is very excited and trying to nail down the last details for the Had Enough video/song.
I’d love to see Pombo go down (and I will tie Walden to him in the post I’m writing). Robert Rodriguez was great last week – very impressed with his ability to answer quickly and clearly.
Yea Howie! Thanks for updates. Congratulations Ann Reinhart, nice of you to include fdl family.
Progressive Patriots sent emails providing an opportunity to vote on one of eighteen (I had no idea we had 18) Senate candidates.
snip
Tough choice but I selected Ned.
Thanks for the progressive patriots box on the blue america page.
Just wanted to say I heard one of McNerney’s ads on the local Bay Area news radio station this morning. I’ve been shocked to hear Pombo with a pretty big ad buy on the same station recently. I hate Pombo, but I thought his position was a little safer than that. McNerney’s ad pounded the “one of the most corrupt politicians in Congress” theme. Speaking semi-objectively, I thought it was a lot better than Pombo’s ad, which features some goofy music to go along with the lame old “he says one thing, then does another!” droning…
“We have less than 7 weeks to get our message out and take back Congress and stop the Bush Regime from further deprecations.”
I think “deprecations” should be “depredations” – no?
Good piece, thanks Howie.
I got a very interesting note today from Russ Feingold’s office about Rodriguez’s opponent, Buck McKeon. They suggested a line of investigation that may help Rodriguez immensely. I’m pursuing it.
egregious @ 20
I love Peter’s version but the original is a classic
Howie Klein @ 29
Ooh, good news! Yay Russ.
OT– Ryan Lizza on Tucker now and says Allen has a problem with race….
He is giving good background vs Tucker’s hysteria.
Lizza also said Webb’s campaign has nothing to do with this. Blames Allen for shooting himself in the face.
Howie Klein @ 22
Yeah, I’m still trying to change ‘monarchical.’
Sounds like a pretty butterfly. Checks and balances, not a king, or something.
Candidates: I just luuv Larry Kissell. :)
We need more Russ Feingold’s in this country! And more Neds and Howies and Janes and Christys and Fitz’s! “We are it, we are on our own…”
john in sacramento @ 30
Beautiful, john. Perhaps the best poem about this country of ours ever written, for both its honesty and its hope. Thanks for the reminder.
Hey Leslie, (waving)
Do you know about the movie night for Charlie?
and from an absent FDL friend…
Ann & Linda, you go girls!!

unbridled authority?
unprincipled authority?
unabashed authority?
Howie,
I was almost done with a post for your site about Alaska US Congressional candidate Diane Benson when my laptop went on the blink. Thought I’d have it back by now, but that isn’t happening. I bought a new laptop with a DVD burner yesterday, and I’m just going to re-do the article for the post.
Hugo Chavez has just sealed a deal to provide heating oil for many remote Alaska villages. Local Right-wing radio is going nuts over this in a racist way.
Leave it to Bob Novak, The Douchebag of Liberty to say this about West Virginia Senate race.
“West Virginia: We include Robert Byrd’s (D) race in the chart below only because of his frailty. As long as he lives through November, he will win re-election, and win big. None of businessman John Raese’s (R) ad spots have put even the slightest dent in the Pharaoh of the Senate. Likely Democratic Retention.”
-GSD
Well, I’m jealous… Congrats Ann & Linda!
Good for Hugo and good for the people in those villages!
Buy Citgo.
Howie Klein @ 29
Can anybody contact *ilson? His thing right now is oppo research. I bet he’d really enjoy helping with this.
Several years back in one final exasperated fit I put down the Arkansas Democrat Gazette for the last time. It was purchased from an old family by Gannet (usa today?) and basically flipped into bankrupt integrity we are all to familiar with in MSM today. The final straw was a new little creepy writer named Tucker (little shrew) Carlson.

I just wanna ask, as a resident of the St. Croix Valley in western Wisconsin, I haven’t seen the “Throw the Rascals Out” video for Colleen or any other candidate on Twin Cities media. Though I don’t watch a lotta local TV (or cable for that matter) I think that a two-day burst sponsored by Move-on or the Rowley campaign on WCCO’s 5 o’clock newscast would seal the deal for DFL GOTV efforts statewide and would put a stake thru her opponent’s heart. When are we gunna see a suname of these videos saturatin’ markets all over the country?
KEEP THE FAITH AND DON’T LET ‘EM INTO YER YARD!!!
How about “o’erweaning authority”
Not serious, but I do love the word.
egregious @ 33
egregious, wasn’t it you who suggested the change to “unilateral”? I thought peterr agreed w/you on that.
NorskeFlamethrower @ 50
We need to raise a lot more money before we can afford to do that. I’m spending half my time asking people for donations.
P.S. Minnesota is a VERY important state because we can pick up THREE (count ‘em – THREE) house seats in southern Minnesota alone!!
KEEP THE FAITH…ALL THEY GOT IS THE MONEY!!

Imperial authority
I’m in for Blue America.
If we win this thing, you and Tommy Maxwell and Jane will have to share some kind of Nobel Prize.
Hi Howie!
Congrats, Ann and LindaR!
As for the extra pair; hope folks won’t do like on Ebay and wait until the last minute to “bid” on winning those tickets!
I wake up every morning with “Have You Had Enough?” playing in my head. My big dream is to see Tom, Ken, and Rickie perform it live on Letterman. (Let’s all meditate on that and make it happen!)
Meanwhile, PLEASE donate to the Blue America PAC and get some ads up in places that’ll make a difference come November!
The Nefarious Leslie @ 52
Peterr has not yet agreed to have me step all over his lovely speech, so I can hardly speak to individual word changes :)
I’m just trying to open it up for Blue America candidates. Strike while the iron is hot. Surely this would be ok, peterr?

Howie, I just wanted to thank you for the Blue America spotlight on Paul Hodes, up here in NH-2
It’s the stupidest thing that captured my fondness for him…On his Volunteer Page
It’s just so charming and provides a way for those of us that are disabled to help.
Thanks for mentioning that Jacqrat.
Beard (#60), do you have any contact with the other Democrat, Carol Shea-Porter. I put a call into the campaign but can’t get a return call and I would love to have her on. She’s totally Blue America material.
‘imperial’ authority?
I think people go ‘oh, no you don’t!’ at ‘imperial’ anything (except maybe margarine). Easier to understand for most people: it’s a familiar word.
Howie Klein @ 62
Unfortunately I don’t. My folks live on that side of the state but don’t do much volunteering for politics. (ASPCA and the Audobon Society, yes, politicians, not so much)

I’m with you on the use of “Imperial” but we’ve got an even better term and that’s “fascist”…the best thing that could happen is for the little fascist rodents ta engage in a definitional debate …it’s like the Lieberman wife beatin’ brew-ha-ha, it draws attention to what they are and it takes back the term they have misappropriated. Start usin’ the “f” word I tell ya…it’s a winner.

First rule at business school, when somebody is trying to give you money, take it.
Jacqrat @ 57
I’ve thought the same thing, Jacqrat. I find myself humming it a lot, and would love to see it on TV.
Egregious, people who want to send checks can send them to Blue America, PO Box 27201, Los ANgeles, CA 90027. I get a few checks almost every day or two.
Fundraising idea: I’ve had some luck going back to people who said no initially, but as the races get tight they become interested.
Human nature I guess to want to choose a winner. It’s especially sweet to feel like you are supporting an underdog who will win with your support.
I’ve been working on one donor for Webb for a couple of months now. Egregious persistance has paid off big, but the timing was important. He saw Allen self-destruct on the race and ancestry questions, and now wants to help.
Take home message: ask people AGAIN. They might have changed their mind. They might have given a little and will now give more *cough*Mr.egregious*cough*
Your passion will carry others along. Whatever works!!!
And Norske, I think I speak for many of us here, we love you to pieces. Keep ranting.
john in sacramento @ 59
Gracias! Good diary by our Linda.
Howie Klein @ 62
This interests me as a process question. Have you tried faxing? Calling and leaving a message saying you are a nationally known fundraiser who can shovel $$$ her way? Ramp up the message a little and see what happens.
Grain of salt—I’m a shy person with no people skills. It makes me either bold or stupid with other people.
Hey egregious,
I just wanted to say that what you said the other day about Jan Brown, is absolutely 100% true. She is that good of a person. She’s the kind of person you would be able to ask to not only watch your house while you were on vacation but you’d feel comfortable having her watch your kids. She’ll make a great Congressman’s wife (fingers crossed).
Those were really nice words, thanks. I can tell you’re a good person too
Howie, I sent you mail at the only address I could find: the down with tyranny one.

John in Sacra, thanks for the kind words. I was impressed that that the candidate’s wife would personally call.

Hey Howie,
The MN-06 race has gotten nasty. NRCC has sent out attack mailings 3 days in a row against Patty Wetterling (D-Heaven) from MicHELLe Bachmann (R-Dobson).
My guess is that these ads only appeal to THAT 30% that still love Chimp. Thoughts?
Either way, Wetterling deserves our support on ActBlue.

Howie you’re the best. The stuff you do on Blue America totally rocks.
Didn’t someone do a MyDD post about how you were a blogopheric hero?
True dat.
One of the other Congresscritters still listed on CREW’s BeyondDelay.org site is Congressman John Doolittle. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, I’ve created a web-version campaign commercial / attack ad about John Doolittle.
John Doolittle Facts!
I’m very proud of it and I would appreciate feedback. It is a no-holds-barred, bare-knuckles attack ad and it is more then well deserved by Doolittle.
Charlie Brown, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret) has pulled into a statistical dead heat with Doolittle and has so much momentum he’s like a locomotive right now. This was a race that the DCCC never thought had a chance two months ago but now they’re getting involved. Charlie is going to win but he needs everyone’s help. Check out my ad and follow the links to Charlie’s site if you want to know more. There is a whole website devoted to Doolittle’s corruption. Link is there as well and mentioned in my attack ad.
Remember, Charlie is listed on FDL’s and DWT’s “BlueAmerica” ActBlue page as well! There is also a fundraiser block on my site to help out in a different way. I leave for CA on Oct 3rd. I’m abandoning my life here in Hawaiian Paradise to go to work for that campaign full-time and take the fight to Doolittle. Just in case you’re feeling generous… I could really use the help. But at the least, help get this video out there so more people can learn about him.
Oh and lastly, Charlie Brown just received the endorsement of the Sacramento Bee this week. A normally conservative newspaper that is also sick of Doolittle’s rampant and blatant corruption. Aloha!
Oh and THANK YOU HOWIE!
You, Jane & Gang and John at C&L are all heroes to me!
I missed the Hodes spotlight, can somebody point me to it?
Howie Klein @ 81

“There is only one thing worse than a U.S. president who illegally attacks another country, wiretaps his own citizens without court order and tortures prisoners of war. Way to go with the Charlie Brown ad Nate…you rock!!

Thanks egregious… Charlie is the Real Deal! He’s taken a “no win” district in conservative heartland California and is showing them that there is a better way. Shedding myself of nearly all of my personal possessions, making a life change, and crossing an ocean to put my skills where my indignation is has been more liberating than I can possibly describe. It’s a momumental amount of work that’s taking me 18 hours a day just to get everything done before my Oct 3rd flight but for the first time in a long time, I feel liberated like I can’t describe.
And without trying to be too shameless in my begging and since you’re feeling generous and all… Can I be so forward to ask that you consider the post underneath my video ad of John Doolittle as well?

Howie,
I want to thank you for the terrific CD of “Had Enough?” I am encouraging the Lamont campaign to use it.
You’ve pulled together such a great group of candidates, it’s hard to choose – I wish I had enough disposible income to send contributions to them all. I did just send some funds to Coleen Rowley (talk about Profiles in Courage) and Dr. Wulsin (and also kicked in a tip for Blue America).
Regarding contributions over the next seven weeks – just keep reminding us. There are so many groups/candidates asking for funding, it’s hard to remember a particular group if they’re not top of mind.

Have you had enough. Great ads. I propose one for Chris Murphy (running against Nancy Johnson) and one for Ned Lamont.
O/T I am back to calling Chris Matthews Tweetie. In short, tonight Tweetie had Scarborough on and they were talking about how “lefty” Chavez was so “extreme” and so “embarassing,” he made the Preznit look good by comparison. *cough* Somhow I doubt it.
They were also talking about how focus on the torture question was much better for Republicans than focus on Iraq, because it allowed “moderates” like John McCain and Chris Shays to say they didn’t like torture so much. Argh. Please!
Nate (#106), a station in Albuequrque is playing the song and I suggested to the DCCC that they run ads for Madrid.
Howie…
Have you sent demos of ‘Had Enough’ to the liberal stations to use as bumper music? I haven’t heard it used and I surf-stream lib-radio all day and most of the night.
Only place I heard it ws on “Ring of Fire” as they interviewed Rickie
I was kind of wondering after viewing the Robert Greenwald interview on KO’s show, do you think the material in his new movie Iraq For Sale would be useful to the Act Blue candidates in beating up on their Republican competition? Can they link the Repubs to some of the crap going on with profiteers?
mui (#113)– Chris Murphy stuff is made and local CT-05 bloggers are raising money in the district to put it on the air.
New thread and tune in Countdown!
Howie, of course you know I’d love Charlie Brown to get all the help possible. But I’m with everyone else, the $$ should go where they will be most effective — where they will make a difference in the race. Easy to say, hard to figure out?
There are so many creepy Republicans to kick out.
LindaR, I’d start with simplicity and comfort in dress and shoes.
snark alert…..How about a basic black cocktail dress and pearls? LOL
HopeSpringsATurtle @ 115
Yes, but I have CDs if you know any stations you need me to send any out
egregious @ 108
egregious… Wow!
Thank you! I’m at a loss. Thank you!
angie @ 91
We have not forgotten your news. It is WHY we are working our butts off trying to get some decent people into the Congress.
Keep it comin’ folks. Give to Blue America so we can get tommy yum’s outstanding Have You Had Enough everywhere it needs to be.
TAKE ACTION!!! FIGHT BACK!!!
HopeSpringsATurtle @ 115
That’s a great idea, HopeSpringsATurtle. There is a local morning show here on 1320. The two hosts love Charlie Brown, and I’m sure they’d use that music.
Howie I’m preparing a post on “Liberal Radio Choices” I’ll email you a copy. DWT email, yes?
Ok– Jane’s gonna be on Countdown @ 10 past……
Old Sow @ 120
Watch out! That appeals to me no end. Okay. No gloves.
Hatno hat. Purse and shoes match. Basic black cocktail dress and pearls.Late to the party, but I see that egregious brought forward something I put out there this morning. There were a couple of comments that improved it (thanks, alittlemusicality and OK Kiddo), and so try this:
Let America stand for justice, not vengeance.
Let America stand for openness, not secrecy.
Let America stand for security, not fear.
Let America stand for humane treatment, not torture.
Let America stand for debate, not mindless chatter.
Let America stand for the needy, not the greedy.
Let America stand for checks and balances, not unilateral power.
Let America stand for freedom, not tyranny.
Let America be America.
Again.
(And yes, John in Sacramento, Langston Hughes was a part of the inspiration as well! Thanks for posting the link to his original.)
Enjoy, reword, and use at will!!!
angie…shut up!!!
Really? Our own Pajama Bin Firepup?
HopeSpringsATurtle @ 125
downwithtyranny@aol.com always works
Dropping back in
As I discovered for myself recently, you can’t go wrong with a black body stocking that ends in a miniskirt with tux jacket on top – or anything crazy/garish/colorful on top.
I usually solve the problem of shoes by wearing my Vans black & white checked sneaks. Black hose, of course.
Nate @ 122
You’re welcome. You can give up the day job to help your candidate, I can’t. But each of us can do something:
Lead. Follow. Support. Teach. Learn.
LindaR @ 124
That is a great idea Hope.
Hey LindaR… Do you have the URL for that station as well? I’m going to email them the link to my YouTube video of John Doolittle as well just to see if they’ll post it on their site or forward it to their mailing lists etc!
how about constantly repeated talking points?
Too long? just a thought
Good work Peterr, OK, and Musicality
angie @ 126
We need a quick pool about whether she mentions Kobe.
No kobe
Balrog – I wish we could help out Patty Wetterling a bit. she is getting the bypass from national dems and is struggling a bit. Although she is in the reddist district (mine) in the state, it is an open seat formerly held by Mark Kennedy who is running for Senate.
she might not be the most assertive candidate but she is good people and really, really good on educational and children issues.
LindaR @ 127
It sounds good. You could wear something with color, after all you will be with very colorful people!
Ok Howie as soon as I’m finished with the post. It has URL’s and station locale, ID etc..
I think it will shed more light because of the talent involved with the song. So many Rickie fans and SNZ as well.
No kobe.
Stick to serious.
Howie Klein @ 121 and Nate
In Sacramento, this station has the two local morning guys, Scott and Sims. And on this station Christine Craft in the afternoon would be the one who’d want the music.
HopeSpringsATurtle @ 136
I’ll say not by name, but an analogy will say, “My dog could…”
Howie Klein @ 130
Howie… Two quick things.
One: did you catch my Doolittle Video @83? I’d love your input.
Two: Have you seen the new TV commercial put out by the Brown campaign? It’s geared heavily to that conservative market so might not resonate so strongly in the left blogosphere, but I uploaded it to YouTube to make it available for people anyways. Back in the Fight!
I think it will really appeal to the conservative cross-over voters in that district, especially if the first comment on it at YouTube is any indication.
Email Howie the link Nate
egregious @ 138
This is sounding good!
HOLY SHIT, SIUN!
JANE IS ON KO NOW
Woooo Hoooo!!!!
Hey guys!
Our very own Jane is on Countdown right this second!
Hope… Jane is on KO right now!
Liveblogging for those of us not in TV range will be appreciated. :)
Howie Klein @ 117
Fantastic? Chris Murphy is running against the odious Nancy Johnson – who unfortunately is my representative. I’m thrilled Murphy’s campaign is using the Have You Had Enough campaign ad. Ned has been helping Murphy all he can – unlike the selfish Joey Party of One
Hey Jane!
You look and sound terrific! What a great job you do speaking for us!
Yehhh… Jane just plugged BlueAmerica page!
Jane’s talking about the song!
Wooo Hooo!
Woohoo! She mentioned “Have You Had Enough?” !
Jane says we (the commenters) keep her honest!
Aw, shucks.
Gee, she projects the energy of this site and the whole larger movement beautifully, doesn’t she?
Swopa, sorry dude. I was so shocked and awed, I forgot to live blog.
Now I forget what she said, except for mentioning that Joe Lieberman understands the power of blogs and they were talking about the meeting w/big Dawg.
Jacqrat @ 156
No problem. I just realized there’s a whole separate thread devoted to the subject. (Jane must have made peace with her Treo.)
I hope David Roth is still on your radar, Howie. Roth has completely changed what it means to be a Democrat in the CA-45th, and we’re working so damn hard to beat Bono.
Howie Klein @ 117, Dab from CT @150,
Yeah! I think getting Chris Murphy elected, along with Ned, is pretty crucial.
Nancy Johnson has been pounding the airwaves with some pretty disgusting and dishonest commercials.
Well, sorry to disappoint you Democrats out there, but I done seen the errors of my ways and come to my senses and I’m gonna be a Republican now. Yep, I decided to get with the program, hop on the bandwagon and go with the flow and join the Republican party. After all, 56 million Americans can’t be wrong, can they ? Yeah, I ain’t gonna be no dirty, low down, scumbag, godless, gutless, gun controlin’, pinko commie, tax & spend, left wing, cut & run liberal Democrat no more, I’m gonna be a fine, upstanding, decent, morally certain, fiscally responsible, compassionate, conservative, patriotic American Republican from now on, just like our outstanding former House Majority Leader, Tom Delay. Now there’s a fine example of a good Republican. And I’m gonna support the President, no matter what he does. Isn’t that what being a good American’s all about, giving the President total unconditional support, no matter what he does? Us republicans think it is, so that’s what I’m gonna do. Well, of course, unless a Democrat gets elected, but we don’t have to worry about that for at least two more years, do we now? It’s gonna be great, too, never being wrong, never making a mistake, never having to admit to it if you do make one. You know what they say, being a Republican means never having to say you’re sorry, and I just can’t wait to start my new life as a Republican.
And I’m sorry for what I said when I called our beloved President ‘George WMD Bush’. That was just mean spirited. That’s something only a Democrat would do so I won’t be doing that no more.
And I agree with old George too, that since we’re the only superpower left, well except for that other one nobody ever talks about too much, we need to go ahead and get out there and conquer the world for Democracy. Freedom’s on the march, and it’s up to us to free the world. We can do it too, and I know just what to do. It’ll be easy, we won’t hardly lose no soldiers at all. We’ll just make two lists. On one list, we’ll write down all the democratic countries that we’re gonna allow to keep on existing, and on the other list we’ll write down all the countries we need to conquer. Heck, we can just put ‘em in alphabetical order and go right down the list! I guess it’s just lucky for old Fidel that Cuba comes after China. And speaking of China, how come nobody’s talking about attacking them and bringing freedom to the Chinese? There’s a billion people over there, and they deserve to be free, too. You know I don’t think they’re any more free under the commies than the Iraqis were under Saddam, and I’m pretty sure if you say something in public against the government over there, you’re likely to disappear off the street and never be heard of again, so we need to attack China and free the Chinese people. What we need is a good old pre-emptive strike, just like the one we used with such great success in Iraq. Matter of fact, all the countries in the world need to follow our example and start using pre-emptive strikes against their potential enemies. It’s way too dangerous to wait for any kind of smoking gun, you know. To all you world leaders out there, if there’s a country that you think might, someday, be thinking about, considering, possibly attacking you at some point in the future if they ever had the chance, then you need to go ahead and attack them now, while you still got the element of surprise. India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, North and South Korea, go ahead and slug it out now, why wait? So we need to attack China now, before they figure out that we’re the biggest threat to them and they do a pre-emptive strike against us! Oh darn, never mind, I keep forgetting the Chinese are our friends, now. They’re not godless communists anymore, they’re capitalists just like us. You know, come to think of it, I have been noticing lately that almost everything in my house that I’ve bought in the last four years says Made in China on the bottom. Well, I guess it’s ok if you’re not democratic, as long as it’s good for the economy.
And, I agree with the Christian Right that it’s great to finally have God in the White House. George is the right hand of God here on earth, and he’s on a mission from God to bring freedom to the whole world. We don’t need to wait for that Jesus guy who’s supposed to be coming back to bring a thousand years of peace, let’s let George do it!. George’ll have it done way before Jesus gets around to it. And you know, everybody knows that us Republicans have the moral high ground in this country, and it shows in the kind of people we’ve elected, like George Bush and our great Vice President, Dick Cheney. They’re two of the most righteous leaders this country’s ever had, and if you Democrats don’t think so, you can just go fuck yourselves.
And I sure am glad the people of the United States had enough good common sense to re-elect a true, American patriot like George Bush to be our President, and not some phony-baloney John Kerry who thinks he’s some kind of war hero just because he got a Silver Star and got shot three times in Vietnam. Us Republicans are way too smart to fall for that kind of propaganda. Everybody knows he worked it out in advance with the Vietcong to just wound him so he could use it for his own personal political gain when he was gonna run for president 35 years later. And I’ll tell ya something else too, the National Guard don’t let just anybody fly their jets around Alabama, you know, you gotta be pretty special to get to do that. It’s just a shame that somebody as smart as George Bush wasn’t president during the Vietnam War, cause then George would’ve got his chance to be a war hero when the National Guard got used for what they’re supposed to be used for and got sent over to Vietnam. Thank God we finally have an administration that understands how to properly use our armed forces.
And , as a good Republican, I’m gonna be listening to my new talk show hero, that great Republican and outstanding American role model, Rush Limbaugh. I’m even gonna join his club, the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Republican Studies. Boy, that’s a long name, ain’t it? We’ll have to come up with one of them there acronyms for that. Let’s see, L.I.A.R.S. yep, that’ll work. Yep, old Rush has been makin’ a lot of sense to me lately, and he’s being tougher than ever on you Democrats, especially since he got out of drug rehab. Do whatever you need to do to keep it up, Rush!
Well, , I’m about done now, so I guess I’m gonna go see if I can’t tune in to the Rush Limbaugh show somewhere, I’ll talk to ya later.
God bless…, I mean, Rush…, I mean George bless America…….
