What did he get for it?

He got some of the most hateful, angry-seeming people in the world to say that he was a pretty decent guy.

I bet Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter give him some measure of grudging respect.

If Rush and Ann were moral people, this might mean something. I mean, when you win the respect of people of principle, it does mean something. But what kind of principle do people have when they’re not vociferously condemning a President who has ordered torture?

You know what he is? Look up Maurice Maeterlink’s quote about the inquisition. Lieberman is the man who is pounding the pulpit and saying that we must not burn too many heretics. Some, sure, but not too many.

(Note to the illiterate rightwingers about to seize on that statement: look up the word “metaphor”. Then come ask some questions; I’ll try to help.)

[…] I need to start by noting that I have contributed money to Ned Lamont’s Senate campaign and I hope he wins. Though Joe Lieberman has been better than many Democrats (including Harry Reid) on reproductive rights issues, he has been less than perfect, and I am in complete disagreement with his views on the Iraq war, and on many other foreign policy issues as well, so I would be very pleased to see him replaced in the Senate by Ned Lamont. That being said, I am completely sickened by this, which was republished in part here: A lot of thanks Clinton got for his pragmatic centrism, too. He came within a hairsbreadth of being driven from office (with the help of his friend Joe) and when the Republicans took over they took the pragmatic surplus he created, handed it out to their rich friends and then proceeded to govern from as far right as they could possibly get with no thought to “collegial” moderation.

OT: Newsflash! Howie Kurtz is a hack! (via Froomkin):

“BORGER: Well, I think you’re seeing is from the press conference that, clearly, the journalists are becoming more skeptical, but what they’re doing is they’re really voicing the concerns of some really senior senators in Congress who have voiced those concerns.
…
“KURTZ: But Gloria… isn’t it also our job to voice the concerns of politicians who might support the president?

“BORGER: Well, I think it is. And some might say that journalists have been doing that for the last couple of years. But I think, honestly, that now there is a huge controversy, and what we’re doing is reflecting that…

“KURTZ: But doesn’t that run the risk of making journalists look like they’re part of the opposition?”

Howie (and Gloria), your job is not to parrot the concerns of politicians either supporting or opposed to the president, and otherwise shut up. It is to try to portray the truth and the evidence, and in so doing, point out which of those politicians (including the president) are in line with the truth, and which are not.

If you honestly believe that you should be concerned with being percieved as “part of the opposition” because you question the GOP line (note how he isn’t concerned with being percieved as “part of the administration”), the at best you’re begging to be bullied and at worst have already given up. Either way, pack up your desk and let someone take over who actually wants to do the job.

This is priceless! Never mind that Republicans and the Armed Forces are leading the charge against Bush’s military commissions bill. Since when are skepticism about bullshit and concern about Star Chamber standards of justice “oppositional”?

:ast week’s Rose Garden presser was a breeze for Bush. The reporters seemed clueless. None seemed to know the first difference between Common Article 3 and the “shocks the conscience” standard, never mind all the other jokers in Bush’s deck. The public hasn’t the vaguest idea what Bush is up to. The press has fallen down on the job yet again.

What, am I the only Liebertroll left around here?
Oh well I’ll do the best I can.
What do the reality based facts in this post really prove? They prove that those who say Dubya hasn’t asked for sacrifices for his ‘Woe On Terra’ are wrong.
He asked Joe to sacrifice his constitutes interests, and the U.S.Constitution and Joe stepped right up and done ‘er.I won’t even bring up anything about women’s rights, health care or any of that other stuff because I don’t want to beat you all down too much. Suffice it to say Joe believes in shared sacrifice.
O.K. maybe not quite so much for himself

One major story at a time… That’s how we’ll get our country back.

Nate, this is an excellent point.

Imagine how it feels to the MSM and corrupt political folks: all of the old shit that used to work so well and was so easy to use is now being called Bullshit within minutes of its occurance.

I’ll bet SR Sidarth was not the first to be called Macaca. In fact I’ll bet Felix used it all the time. If he tries to use it again, he’ll be the feature film on YouTube within minutes.

One story at a time. And hey, we LOVE calling bullshit on bullshit. What a fun game!

I made my first campaign commercial/attack ad this weekend for the Charlie Brown campaign about Congressman John Doolittle’s Corrupt support of sweatshops in the Marianas and his support for their practices of Forced Abortions and Sex Slavery.

John Doolittle Facts!

I can’t begin to tell you how therapeutic it was. I’m talking downright cathartic. I did it with my simple PC, an $80 video editing program and pictures and audio publicly available on the web.

I think I’ll do another one this week about JoeMentum. Perhaps a Rodney Dangerstien - Can’t Get No Respect kinda thing! :)

Check out my ad and leave me feedback if you would. I’m quite proud of my first effort. So much more work to do now.

Because of your zeal I am inspired to give a donation to Charlie Brown. Should cover the next 2-3 ads :)
