I was concerned when I heard about the Bob Ney deal, because he wasn’t “flipping” on anyone else. I had misgivings about Alice Fisher’s handling of the case. I still have concerns, but this made me feel a little better.

Ney’s plea deal also represents a strategic victory for prosecutors, who didn’t have to use Abramoff as a witness. Abramoff still hasn’t had to take the stand in any of the cases, allowing prosecutors to keep mining his information without revealing it to defense attorneys.

There are so many GOP incumbents that will look their voters squarely in the eye and say “I don’t believe I’ve done anything wrong” and the proof won’t come before the day until after they’re re-elected.

That possibility may instead lead to some interesting scenarios down the road when they are forced to resign, but right now we need to take the House back and get those subpoenas rolling, and that would be easier if a bunch of the crooks could be forced out by their affiliation with Abramoff.

I agree thingwarbler. Jane and Christy were all over this a long time ago wrt Alice Fisher, whose handing it for the DoJ. She used to work for Frist’s family’s hospital. Bush’s “all terror all the time,” is sucking the media into not covering anything else. It’s one reason I think Jane’s posts on war-profiteering are so well timed. It’s our best shot imo to get the media off the War in Error War on Terror. If we can get some decent traction, it might get people looking at Alice to make sure she’s doing her job, not what Bush and Frist want her to do.

I don’t think Abramoff will impact the mid terms as much as I’d hoped for, probably. On the other hand, Bush’s head House arm twister (DeLay ) is gone in part because of Abramoff, IMO. Ney, toast. Burns, hopefully, and others…..

Disgusting indeed – and it occurs to me that “the wingers assumptions about President Clinton” are just as phony balony as they are. More likely just salacious, malicious & deliberate lies to fan the flames that proved so successful with the tired old Monica scandal. I am referring to the conspiracy theories about the Franklin ccase and it’s link to the republican party. (back during the bush 41) There is at least at much factual and interesting stuff in this story regarding Johnny Gosch (the missing boy from des moines whose mother just recieved a picture of her son that does support the rumored notion that he was kidnapped into a child pornograpy ring), at least as much innuendo as the white water case. Another interesting fact to me regarding the rumors. Michael Jackson was doing a show in K.C MO during the time of this Franklin cover up case in Omaha Ne. It made front page news during Bush 41 years. But never amounted to anything. Anyway, Michael Jackson flew into Omaha after his show in K.C…he didn’t perform but he stopped at the Franklin mansion. This was long before the alegations came out and WAY before we realized that Michael Jackson might be a pedaphile.

I have wondered if anyone is doing investigative work on this possibility…then we have Jeff Gannon…awfully strange, with all his access to the white house. Many people were killed who were involved in the franklin case. Strange plane crashes. Kids in jail who reported abuse for little violations. Then the photo of Johnny Gosch. There obsessive need to keep the limelight on Clinton and their over reaction to it adds credence to the notion that they need to hide something a lot worse.

On second and third look it is apparent that the lady has something tucked under her arm – (an umbrella?) and is gripping the end of it.
