We get harrassed at the DFAC. We work the gate and we have to get almost a hundred meals every day from the chow hall just before it opens. We have to be there 30 minutes before the chow hall opens and not a minute earlier and we have to be out 10 minutes before they open and not a minute later. We have a max of 20 minutes or they ‘kick’ us out (well at least they try we go around with them and get our food anyway). They never put the entire menu on the line until after we leave or right before we leave. I guess we at the gate don’t rate the full menu or maybe they are afraid we will take all the food. I don’t know what the deal is but I get so dang angry over this.

Don’t worry though. We MAKE them load the plates down. I don’t care if half of it gets thrown away. They get paid by the plate not by the contents of it.

I’m just tired of having so many problems from the people that are supposed to be working for us over food that our government is paying top dollar for.

Now I feel better.

Oh yeah. The showers are hot all summer and cold all winter. The water is stored outside of course and the sun heats it. Never turn on the hot water side in the summer. In the winter the water heaters make a limited amount of hot water.

Well said. That’s a much better way of putting it. My frustration is that I’m proud of my country and proud to be an American, but I am not at all proud of what the greater world’s perception of the American has become.

Austrian living in Australia and Yes the channel 7 network is advertising the “Path To 911″ as what happenned…Chanel 7 is owned and controlled by Rupert Murdoch.

But all is not what it seems…I’ve read many news reports from here that are telling about the controversy about this piece of fluff in the US.

I think the line has already been drawn here in Australia. You will either take that show as the dribble it is, and believe me, where not stupid (a hell of a lot of Aussies are absolutely ashamed and disgusted that we we went to Iraq) Or believe it. Those that will believe it are already in that square and those that will think it’s a piece of fluff have already made up their minds over this.

I won’t be watching it and I will be writing all the advertisers that use channel 7 during that time slot that I will not be using their products ever again.

You read a story like this, and it (once again) breaks your outrage meter. [Although it seems to me I heard about this serving-garbage-to-soldiers story before — Wasn’t Bunnatine Greenhouse on the trail of this?]

You ask yourself “where is the sheriff who will break up this blatant lawbreaking”? Then you realize the sheriff is corrupt, and will not come to uphold justice.

Then it sinks in that Congress will not righteously discipline the corrupt sheriff, because the Congress is controlled by Republicans, who are corrupt up to their eyeballs.

Then you say, why can’t the people take these cases to the courts? And then you realize the judicial system is hanging by a slender thread, and there are times when brief victories (Custer Battles) are snuffed out like tiny quivering candle flames.

The levers of democracy have been stolen. This makes you feel powerless, helpless. Humiliated at having one’s dignity as a citizen trampled upon ruthlessly.

Now I begin to understand what citizens under ruthless regimes must always feel, especially those countries who previously had a sense of democracy. It doesn’t matter that this is “soft fascism” — the fact that they don’t need to stand on streetcorners with M16s to effect their will does not diminish the sense of humiliation and loss of civic pride.

We must fight this sense of helplessness with everything we’ve got, because it is their first and last psyops trick. Get your victims to defeat themselves with their own hopelessness.

I worry terribly about November. But whatever happens, we much never ever give up. Our beloved country depends on us, and the fate of this nation will have a huge impact far beyond our own borders.

Thank God I can hang out here to look for (and find) renewed strength and hope.
