We in CT will miss him as he rides off into his sunset. Or maybe he’ll ride the bus from New Britain to Hartford, like I do sometimes. I can only hope he’ll do one of those Prince things Ben described. I’ll be sure to ask him about you.

Speaking of ‘visiters’ during FDL hours, my cat and I have a battle that happens ONLY when I sit at the computer. It is rather like a child who only starts screaming when you are on the phone.

He lays on the floor at my feet and bites my toes and if I do not respond, he escalates to my legs. I have tried pushing him away, moving him to the desk where he can be even closer, or the window right next to the desk so he can watch the bird feeder, BUT NOOOOO, he prefers torturing my feet.

I have since noticed he shies away from my hand as I go to pet him elsewhere because of my pushing him away from my feet, so have resorted to water spray from a sqeeze bottle. He seems to understand that a mite better. But if someone else has some ideas, believe me I am ALL EARS.

My little one craves attention when I’m on the computer too. She’d yell at me and step on my keyboard to try to get attention. The compromise we worked out involved me clearing a place for her to sleep right on my desk next to me, and keeping it cushioned. And when she needs more attention, she can sit in between me and the monitor…I get to keep reading the screen, as long as I keep up the rubbing hehe.

Never punish a cat with your hands, or they will remember it and fear you. The water bottle mine never associate with me…even if I show it to them and they run, they still seem to think it has a will of its own :) I’d try not pushing the cat away, but just keep picking him up and plopping him on the desk until he gets the idea. Give him a minute or 2 of petting until you go back to what you were doing.

It worked for me anyway.

Did you know prince was rumored to get on buses in his hometown walk up to a random metro rider and say “do you know who I am”

and when they say “um yes you’re prince.”

Prince will then say – “that’s right.” And he abruptly turns around and gets off at the next stop.

Maybe Dan will be doing this on the Middletown transit system next time I visit. Can’t wait.
