On radio AM on Colorado’s front range, 850 is a conservative bastion (Rosen is an indepednence institute/tancredo/owens mouthpiece) but biggest drive time — 950 AM is mostly sports but also has wide coverage. 760 will get to anyone not red in the front range. 1600 is country — could be an unexpected interesting choice, though owner routinely plants Tancredo signs on his property. And hires undocumented immigrants to mow the lawn. 1340 is pbs.

850 is a conservative bastion through the Limbaugh/Rosen hours. But the drivetime slots are not especially political. 850 is the best opportunity to hit a large percentage of swing voters.

I am not sure how you feel, but I think James Dobson is one of the most dangerous men in America today. Can you combat the drones that just do what Dobson tells them to do? I wish you well and believe that ordinary people are sick of this sycophant (Dobson).

Howie, thank you again for all you do. And Edwin and TakeBacktheHouse, Howie’s Blue America PAC will have great 30 second musical radio spots personalized for Winter and Fawcett (at least I hope he will) but the PAC cannot coordinate directly with the campaigns. You two probably know a lot about the local radio stations and could give him some advice on the best places to run them.

BarbaraB, what sort of budget do you have? And are you thinking talk radio? The local lib station is 760 AM. Winter, at least, already has spots running there. 850 AM is the most popular talk station. It’s very expensive, but its drivetime shows reach tons of commuters. 710 and 630 are popular political talk stations, but even their drivetime stuff slants pretty conservative.

If you have the budget, a big buy on 850 would be great.

I think there are still good people at the WaPo, for instance Walter Pincus. And on the other hand, Fred Hiatt.

I like Barton Gellman, he never reports enough. And of course at the WPNI there’s Dan Froomkin. Shailagh Murray has done some good work. I guess my scope tends to be a bit limited in terms of subjects that I read at the Post, but in a perfect world they would a good, long look at the way they prioritize who covers what.

I’m also heavily looking into this.
