Is it just me, or are Cheney and Lieberman wearing the same tie in that picture? Does this mean they’re going steady?

Cheney strikes me as the kind who’ll confirm an appointment with a friendly, “By the way, I’m wearing a checked tie tomorrow.” If you don’t have enough sense to do likewise, then after the press op he does that Boston Strangler re-enactment he’s apparently doing in that photo on you.

Christy — there is a yogurt substitute, YoSoy, I think is the name; I know I can buy it at my local grocery store in the health foods area. Never tried it, but if you had to find an alternative, this might be an option.

Feel sorry for you, it’s tough to have a nexus of food issues with illness. The older child here was always very good about foods, but she had relatively few ear infections. The little guy, though, has been an unfortunate pain in the keister when it comes to being picky about foods — and he had the most ear infections, making solutions challenging. Fortunately, he actually likes and asks for soy milk (vanilla only, though), has been a solution when we needed to get something in him. Chocolate smoothies made with tofu and vanilla soymilk are a popular item when he’s not feeling well, and even when he is.

Picky-eater little guy quit eating green veggies at 9 months, wouldn’t touch them for nearly 18 months. Drove us crazy; his sister’s favorite vegetable was broccoli, would eat any vegetable, but not Mr. Picky. He’s coming around slowly, though; 7 years later he’s eating broccoli (trees only, though, he says, not stems), green beans (but not french cut), salads. There’s hope for him yet.

Feel for anyone with a sick kid. We’ve got four kids and as yet, have avoided ear infections (knocking on wood). May be luck, but we’ve had good results with much of the advice offered here…

Not for everyone, but just wanted to let you know in case there’s interest out there in natural remedies. This too shall pass!

I don’t think Allen was ever going to get any of the African-American vote, but I would think he previously had quite a bit of support from the non-white business community. If he’d made an ugly anti-black remark, it wouldn’t have lost him any black voters (though it might well have hurt him with “soccer moms,” who the Republicans perpetually work to convince that they care about poor black people, even if they never do anything for them), but this conveyed to a larger group that he really doesn’t consider anyone nonwhite to be a “real” Virginian.
