I would like to take a moment to address the concept of appeasement.
Donald Rumsfeld, please take note.
Appeasement is what happened on September 8th, 1974…When Gerald Ford, Nixon’s hand-picked successor pardoned Nixon for any and all offences committed by him during his term of office, and gave him sole possession of the physical evidence against him.
Appeasement is what happened December 24, 1992…when George H.W. Bush pardoned Casper Weinberger and others in advance of their trial for their Iran-Contra activities, calling them ‘patriots’ (who incidentally commited treason by selling arms to a rogue state, breaking a congressional amendment specifically enacted to forbid such hanky-panky in the process) and bemoaning the ‘criminalization of policy differences’.
Appeasement is spending over $40 million and 5 years to wind up investigating an extramarital blowjob, as a sop to faux moralists who engaged freely in their own private peccadilloes away from such intense scrutiny.
Appeasement is enacting and rushing back to sign into existence a federal law that would force a feeding tube down a brain-dead person’s gullet as a stratagem to energize purblind religious voters.
Appeasement is giving tax cuts to the wealthy and tax breaks to large multinational companies at the expense of the expanding poor and shrinking middle class…Forcing America’s fighting men and women to use inadequate equipment and sacrifice their families’ well-being so that a war fought on behalf of petroleum companies using them as proxies can be prosecuted…Doing away with rights, freedoms, and legal oversight so that a unitary executive theory of dubious provenance, unsustainable outside of such optimum conditions can thrive like a malignant weed.
Appeasement is not legitimate questioning of authority.
And it is not insisting that global realities trump narrowly ideological pipe dreams created over 30 years ago in an earlier corruption of the American political process.
But some will have plenty of time to ponder these contrasts.
International war crimes trials do have a habit of dragging on somewhat.

1) Boxer called for Rumsfelds resignation because he said we question “at our nations peril” - her words! (Olbermann 8/31)
2) O’Donnell mentioned very emphatically that they have been having the hardest time getting Dems to appear on camera to rebut the administration’s pr blitz. (Hardball 8/31)
Both had me shaking my head and hoping you’d highlight the hypocrisy (1) and ineptitude (2)

I waited for an eternity for the quick time clip to load at C & L just so I could watch someone - anyone, rip Rumsfield apart peice by fucking peice.
The Three Stooges, Bush Cheney and Rumsfield are without doubt the worst thing that has happened to America in recent times (not withstanding 911) Those 3 fools could have prepared New Orl. for Katrina and minimised the damage but they just sat back and let it happen.
The man is an absolute disgrace to the United States of America and should be tried and Jailed for his actions.

Amazon not only supports FDL, it supports the economy of North Dakota via its customer service center in Grand Forks, a corporation that came into ND after the disastrous 1997 flooding…back in the day when FEMA and America functioned very well, thank you.
If you’re not inclined to buy KO’s book, do, please, put it on the request list of your local library. Can’t stress enough that these folks do a lot of networking. And this is just the kind of book that would appeal to the people who protested turning over people’s reading records with no regard for legalities.

So, I heard highlights of Rummy’s speach while I was far from home. For a thousand miles, I listened to my satelite radio and stewed about this bastard. When I got home, I was loaded for bear, (none of this canned quail shit) and proceeded to release a scorched earth diatribe about Secretary “Throwing Bull” Dumsfeld.
While looking for material, I came across Olbermann’s “burning bush” analysis.
I felt like the Indian on the Mesa sending smoke signals, looking over at the mushroom cloud from the nuclear test.
