Jeff Goldstein asks (sorry, no linkie):
Wanted: a “CITIZEN JOURNALIST Report” theme song / theme musicAny of you interested in trying to come up with some theme music for our show?—something along the lines of the “Vent” theme but peculiar to our little internet teevee thing?
If so, please do. Email me the files or post them here in the comments.
For some reason Jeff, I can’t think why, this kid made me think of you. No need to thank me.
Well, maybe I take it back. This kid, after all, has talent.
(Note to TRex: Goldstein snark is like methadone maintenance when you’re trying to get clean after Pam Oshrey’s vlogs.)

John Dean and Glenn Greenwald!
It’s amazing how much you can learn on the internets. ;)
The theme from Jaws or Tiptoe thru the Tulips works for me.
An hour old and only 3 comments? quiet round here, FDLers must be *enjoying* their weekend for a change!
that’s one talented twink! I’m still grinning …
Who the heck is that kid? He’s great!
No one knows quite what to say.
Modesty is indeed a weer-tew.
Well, that’s a keeper! Watched it 3 times and love it more and more. What talent– world watch out!
Pach … was that you back in your salad days ?
If you like what this kid has done, head over to YouTube too to rate up his video. Just a thought.
Goldstein is a sad, sick bastard. I recommend ignoring him totally.
I am so happy now!!!!!!! Make me want to sing and dance. Who is that kid?
well that was unexpected. but really, this is too good for jeff.
His daddy must be so proud!
*ilson46201 @ 10
Actually, no. I’m sadly not the flamboyant talent. I “pass” rather naturally, not that I try to.
I found Jeff’s video blog intro:

LMAO!
The kid is good!
OT
If you haven’t visited the corner yet (in regards to the Armitage story),i suggest you give it a whirl.
McArthy’s got his groove on, pretty entertaining.
But then again, it doesn’t take much to amuse me.
Pach, you have the funniest little friends! Where’d you find this one, P Street Station or JR’s? He’s adorable, I think he should be the new FDL Boi mascot.
Lovely day in the neighborhood, unfortunately we found a fabu condo for sale with a wonderful yard and lots of space. Now, we are working feverishly to come up with a down payment and an income between the two of us. It was a lovely little place, though….
Teddy: Found it on YouTube lazily surfing and searching. I don’t know him.
How do we find him on YouTube? I’d like to give this cutie five gold stars!
If naked photos begin showing up of Jeff Goldstein, I will never, ever forgive you. (That said, thanks for the snickers. That kid’s got moxie.)
Just have to tell you. This news just came from the Webb campaign office: ” According to a just-released Wall Street Journal/Zogby poll, Jim Webb is now LEADING George Allen by 1.3 percentage points, 47.9%-46.6%. According to Zogby polling, Allen had been leading by about 11 points in mid-July, but that has evaporated in what John Zogby calls a “colossal political crackup.”
Now back to Pach’s funny friends!
That kid reminds me of Donald O’Connor. I’ve always loved “Make ‘Em Laugh” and this kid is someone that I think could pull of remaking the original dance routine.

Just click anywhere on the little YouTube screen above and it will take you there.
OT, but the Book Salon discussion is still going strong downstairs.
Hmmm…what exactly is the topic of this thread?
This is just an open throwaway thread for whatever, for anyone who’s moved on from the Book Salon. It’s kind of an open thread, I guess.
Oh grreat googly moogly, Dana– most excellent news, indeed!
buh-bye, Senator Macaca. Still, I know, the heat must be kept on til Jim Webb wins– the authoritarians are gonna get ugly.
neurophius at 28 — just think of it as the Sunday evening sillies. *g* I refuse to think of any thread as a Goldstein thread.
That’s fine by me *g*
Dana
I’m sure the Webb campaign is thrilled to be 1.3 percent ahead, but what is the margin of error on the poll?
angie @ 30
zogby interactive poll —- not scienific but . . . great news!
looks like allen is hitting the ma-CACA!
Who is Jeff Goldstein anyway? I don’t know anything about him.
The kid’s YouTube says he’s just 15.
Letterman asked Nathan Lane once about his orientation, Lane answere: “I’m single, and I love musical theater. You do the math.”
neurophius @

Thanks.
As Ed McMahon used to say, “I did not know that, sir!”
Ahhh Teddy at 38 — for a moment there, I had a glimpse in my mind’s eye of the fun that Johnny Carson could have been having with the Bush Administration. And it was glorious. *sniffle* Thanks for the almost memories…
neurophius @ 35
He is just some random stain inhabiting the Blogostomy™
Dana @ 5:43 pm (#24) – Great news, especially since it’s continuing an upward trend. I haven’t been able to compare like polls over time, but each new poll has better numbers. Even that is welcome news.
Christy- hope you have time to read the most recent comments on the Book Salon thread. Your wisdom may be needed.
Hi, let me introduce myself. I’m Christine and live in the State of Iowa. I would consider myself a moderate politically. There’s some things I would be kinda conservative on and others somewhat liberal. One of my ultra liberal friends thinks I’m more conservative than moderate. But, the ultra conservatives I know, think I’m very liberal. So, take your pick!!
My writing doesn’t always reflect what I’m thinking. Writing is not my strong suit, ’cause I’m a mainframe programmer by trade. I’ve been told I’m a primary example of a mainframe programmer in just about everything I do. In my spare time I try to figure out the politics of this country. Along with that, I read quite a bit, do embroidery work, and play with my 3 nieces.
I enjoy reading this blog site as it tends to reflect many of my opinions. But, it also makes me think about other views on some subjects.
welcome, christine!
welcome Christine! your views are certainly welcome here, and I am excited to see Iowans come to the ‘lake, particularly since you may be our “ears to the ground” during the runup to the 2008 Presidential caucuses.
again, welcome!

Carson would have blown Bush out of the water. Not to mention what Will Rogers would have done to or with Georgie.
Teddy@20: I think the price of homes cannot be sustained anymore. Hold out awhile Teddy. IMO
VG at 42 — whassup? Do I need to run down a thread? Am eating some chicken noodle soup and catching up on e-mail and was hoping for an early bedtime, but I can run downstairs if need be.
iowa christine @ 43
Speaking for myself only, can’t quibble with that. What in one sentence do programmers do? I’m a math type. I like prime #’s matrices, sequences and series, limits, things that have to do with infinity etc.
That was great! Gonna go rate the kid’s video up.
Carson would have blown Bush out of the water.
Yeah, I really wish we had Johnny around these days.
Hi, Christine! Good to have you with us.
Welcome Christine.
Some of my ancestors lived in Iowa, and some of my current relatives did for a while as well. I like Iowa. I did volunteer work in a couple of presidential primaries there. Who do you think is the current favorite for 2008, or is politics of any interest to you?
Speaking of ““ears to the ground” during the runup to the 2008 Presidential caucuses.”
The runup has already started. Started a few months ago with the governor’s, state legislature, and congressional races. If you want to go by sound bytes….Nussle is going to win over Culver. Culver hasn’t gotten much of a message out yet and the elections are in 2 months. Whereas Nussle has a least 2 commercials an hour on the local stations. Republican stumpers have outnumbered Democratic ones in the past couple of months. If this state is to retain a Democrat as Governor, Culver’s got to get in gear *FAST*.
I would love to have heard what Johnny Carson had to say about Commander Codpiece.
um, I think I meant “would have had to say.”
OK Kiddo — I was so excited a few months back when somebody here said my zipcode of 46201 was prime! Wowzers!!! Somebody else corrected that erroneous info — I was crestfallen …
Dana at 5:43, thanks for the great news.
Christy- not to worry– I think it’s all been sorted out. Test will appear soon.
neuro– I can see him dressing up a la the codpiece in chief and trying to act serious and then doing his precious thing where he just is about to explode with giggles (just after dubya did it); for a long time after and until this very moment, he would have be tearing up but ripppping dubya.
Before the war, he’d would have pulled many Carnac moments and just predicted the truth– as we know it.
Neurophis – My current favorite is Feingold of Wisconsin. Vilsack is going to run, but hasn’t made it official. But my friends and I believe he’s really looking for Secretary of Interior or Ag. As far as the state as a whole right now?? No clue, but people are asking ‘what economic recovery??’
Oklahoma kiddo – Right now the definition would be: I make the computer store, calculate, and display nursing information correctly. I work on the inpatient nursing system. This entails nursing orders, durations, timing, dosages, vitals, anything that a nurse does with a patient on their floor. I (and 4 others) make sure the data is stored properly and then displayed properly when called upon. I program in PL/1, IMS, DB2, PL/1’s version of CICS, JCL and may be converting Mark IV to PL/1. I work for a major university hospital.
Pach, that kid is fabulous!
Thanks for surfing him out!
hey christine– I just read your reply to OK Kiddo and although intimately familiar with nursing, my jaw dropped and so I read your post to my s.o. and he nodded sagely. he’s in healthcare IT. kudos!
wow, so many languages in our country. kewl. :>0
OK Kiddo @50, you probably count like this: “one, two, three, infinity!” don’t you?
FWIW I took a course in grad school titled “Topology of Manifolds” and I’ve never been the same since …
*ilson46201 @ 57
you are still primo to me, *
Pach, I’m bummed I missed your Ode to the Mets last night. Let me just say Fuck the Fuckin’ Yankees!
Gee, nobody wants to talk about Jeff Goldstein. What a surprise.
Kurt @ 8
Exactly.
the previous thread is still going, hot and heavy …
‘86 Mets? Had they not squeaked by the ‘Stros in 16 innings in Game 6 of the NLCS, they would have been looking at Mike Scott pitching Game 7, and no way they win … Scott had beaten them twice already in that series, including a no-hitter IIRC.
Not a no-hitter, but he whupped ass.
YouTube linkee not showing for me. What’s the direct link?
AirportCat @ 64
One, two, three, infinity… is there another way of counting? Did you like dif. eq.’s? Such a “little” book. Topology was interesting. A bit challenging though. For me anyway. But that’s what I like.
Hmm.. . it’s there for me. Try refresh page?
Did that, three times. Not showing. I’m on a Mac with Safari. Sometimes these YouTube links don’t show up for me, ever.

I had two semesters of grad-level qualitative theory of ODE’s, really enjoyed it (had an outstanding prof) but had trouble keeping up, as I was (and am not) a mathematician (engineer by training, but somewhat of a slacker).
Renee in Ohio, thanks for the link to Subway Serenade.
Renee in Ohio, thanks for the link to Subway Serenade’s comment.
Ok, well as usual, I don’t keep up too much with the various “internet personas” out there. So, I kept asking…who in hell is Goldstein? And then it clicked. I “think” he’s the guy who always brings sex into his discussions? Always says of his critics that they must have…ah….a short one?…and of himself, how big his is?
If that’s the guy….what a little child. Those little boys melt in the company of Men. I don’t think he’s ever kept such company.

“One, two, three, infinity… is there another way of counting? Did you like dif. eq.’s?”
First sentence – how true!!!! Second one – never took dif eq. My bachelors is in Architecture with an emphasis on architectural history (which will get you lots of political history as well). Long story as to why I’m no longer in architecture. Went back to school for an Associates in programming and make a whole lot more money than in the historic architectural preservation world.
I had to go with my first love though. I lived in Italy for 3.5 years (’72 – ‘75) at San Vito Air Station with my parents. Dad was in the USAF. Every summer we’d pack up the station wagon and toured/camped our way through Europe. That’s where I got my interest in Architecture. But, things happened along the way and I needed to find a new career. Programming was my second interest. There’s quite a bit of similarities in the ‘process’ of designing a building and designing a program.

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Aug. 27 — A suicide car bomber attacked Iraq’s largest newspaper on Sunday, detonating his vehicle inside its fortified compound in downtown Baghdad and killing two people and wounding 20 others, the executive editor and government officials said.
The bombing was part of a violent day across Iraq in which explosions and gun battles killed at least 52 people, including an American soldier.

Was an elec. engineer major for two semesters at UC Cal. and switched to math. I found it easier. I was lazy. Still am.
Christine in Iowa,
Do you live in eastern Iowa? I do and have the feeling Culver being in state wide office thinks he has better name recognition. He should be hitting Nussle with the budget problems and ethics problems. Nussle has family values issues. ie adultery.
Colleen,
Yes, I’m in eastern Iowa. I work in IC at UIHC and live in CR – lovely commute (gives me time to read – do the van pool).
You could be right. But, it’s not working from where I’m seeing things. Do you know if he’s of the same family as Culver’s resturants and landscaping business??? His web site doesn’t say. IIRC, he is. So, may be banking on that as well. Sorry dude, you’ve got to get out there not sit in your office. And what about Nussle moving just so that he can be in the ‘correct’ area after the redistricting??
What’s with the “linkee” stuff. Isn’t the word “link?”
Christime in Iowa,
Jumping to new thread

Will Rogers would have made goulash of Bush.
Maybe this is the appropriate thread for this article from the SF Chronicle:
Kid, if you ever find your way here, welcome. That was great. You pack loads of personality in that little frame: eye movement, expression, dance. You have a lot of fans here, apparently. They know you worked to get this one. . . just. . . right.
Don’t bother about who Jeff Goldstein is. He’s a right wing wanker who is comically unaware of himself and fond of talking about penises, and we tease him he’s got some unresolved issues, which he emphatically does. But beyond that, we like to taunt him sometimes for lazy sport.
None of that has anything to do with you. You’re fabulous. Welcome to FDL.
Just thought I’d check in and say I can still remember going to the World Series in the 60’s with my Nana. We took the train in all the time for the games. She loved Shaeffer beer and they had plenty of it back then. I remember hopping over the fence and getting me a 3″ piece of sod and planting it in the backyard when we got back to her home. I’m not sure if it was the final in the series or another…I still have my cards in a box from the 70’s–Tommy Agee, Cleon Jones, Ron Swoboda, Tom Seaver…..I customer of mine gave me an Ebbet’s Field Dodger banner that I recently have framed. Just hought I’d share in the Shea fun. I don’t watch baseball anymore.
Hot dogs here!
I’m finally at a computer that can play that YouTube thing. I only have three words for it:
Fab. U. Lous.
I don’t know if this guy is serious about it but, the musical theatre needs new blood, I hope this kid takes high school and college drama classes, learns to sing properly (or even just sing!) and goes for it.
Or, as TeddySanFran said in the comments there, move west young man! you have a great future in drag.
This kid is AWESOME – 15 years old too — great to see that there is still come creativity out there.
“Now Ula belts . . .”
