I’ve never seen a Russ Meyer paraphrase put to better use. I bow, Mr. TRex, I bow to your diamond star halo of word smithing. I can only surmise that you follow a long line of southern gentlemen writers. Faulkner would be proud (if he wasn’t wetting himself).

This particular piece of work deserved the satire of a master and it is comforting to see that you provided that required mastery.

Thank you!

Is that really a picture of Dan Gerstein? I thought it was Bugs Moran, or Bugsy Siegel, or maybe Lucky Luciano. Gerstein must have studied those guys when he was putting together his look.

Um, this is a rather long and involved deal you have going here dude. Why not just start your own blog for free and be able to say what you like? That’s what is so cool about blogs, dude, you can start your own and then that way you won’t be oppressed any more. Yay Internets!

Gray @
426

“We have a few regulars here who have children that they dearly love. These children are special needs kids and the phrasing that you used is hurtful.”

Now that’s an explanation that makes sense. Sry to hear that. But I couldn’t know that, ok? I wouldn’t have had any problem eschanging that snetnecne if anyone would have pointed this out to me in time. generally, if you want to implement some kind of PC here, fine, your blog, but pls be more transparent about that. There isn’t any notice about posting guidelines in the ‘Leave a reply’ section, and if a comment isn’t published, there’s no feedback if it’s a network issue, a filter blocking a single word or the ‘judgement’ of the ‘moderator’. This is a quite sophisticated comment system, I’m sure it wouldn’t be much of a problem to implement a link to the ROE and some notice if a posting is blocked. This would avoid totally unnecessary trouble about avoidable misunderstandings.

Another point: “it was never about your ego or you at all” Right, it was about the ego of the moderator, even though I couldn’t know that he/she were offended ny my rant that was targetted at Gerstein. Well, I checked some comments in another thread later. Imho the rising number of people slimily praising the moderator’s work, even though they don’t have any insight on which comments are blocked and why, shows that commenters here are afraid of being arbitrarily blocked by a moderator that felt personally offended by an otherwise harmless remark. I think this is an alarming sign for a blog, showing that open discussion is limited to what people think would be ok with the mods.

I don’t say moderators are generally a bad thing, imho they are necessary for a blog which regularly has several hundred comments on every single thread. But the guidelines have to be clear for them and for the commenters. And I think those guidelines should involve the vlocking of ad hominem attacks among commenters, of insulting four letter words and of hate speech. I see lots of four letter words in the stories and the comments, there’s ad hominem attacks too, and I’m not at all sure about the absence of hate speech. Good luck in improving the performance of ‘moderation’.

Having said that, this is my last post here. I respect that you want to shield the sensibilities of the community here, but I don’t want to be subject of blurred guidelines that result in an overblown and annoying response. There’s lot of other blogs that have a much clearer and more common sense approach towards comments, nobody has to go through the annoying comment system here if he feels uncomfortable with that. Well, I guess you won’t miss me. Have a nice time, Reddhedd.

Pests are notoriously difficult to stop. So are cancerous tumors. And even if Mr. Joe loses, Mr. Dan G will be getting a top paid job.

If you’re a member of the Executive Class or its junior partner, the Government Class, you always get paid well no matter how much you lie.

Yay class system!

Gerstein can’t be compared to Rove or even be a Rove lacky. Rove is successful. He would better be compared in ability and talent to Dick “I’m paying you to suck your toes” Morris. A skank of monumemtal proportions. It must be his goal.

Wahhhhhhh - it’s all about Meeeeeeeeeee. Bye, Gray Lieberman, you oblivious fuckwit. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. I predict this will survive moderation just fine, and you won’t have the slightest clue why it did and yours don’t.

Gray — let me explain it to you in very simple terms. We have a few regulars here who have children that they dearly love. These children are special needs kids and the phrasing that you used is hurtful. We try to build a community where ideas can be discussed — but that is one area where both Jane and I have zero tolerance. Because it is incredibly hurtful to several people that we care about very much. I am done explaining this — it was never about your ego or you at all, it was about being kind and considerate of the feelings of some very dear people who post here regularly whose children face nasty taunts and worse on a daily basis — and who don’t need to be dealing with them here as well. Period.
