So where does one go to hear opinions on the talking heads sessions? I’m particularly interested in the MTP discussion after McCain left the studio.

A pretty clear statement about what is wrong with our society and the media. The media tries to create diversions and obviously is succeeding with it’s focus on Runaway Bride/Jon Benet style news. I emailed an article from the NYT to my son in Oregon about poverty in Rural Oregon and notice that today’s most e-mailed articles were the following:

1. Federer as Religious Experience
2. The Trouble When Jane Becomes Jack
3. Choice Tables: Going to Napa, but Skipping the Vineyards
4. The St.-Tropez of Turkey
5. Skin Deep: Throw Your Tweezers Away

Pretty well sums it up for me, and this is the “Grey Lady” not People magazine or Arizona Highways.

Good job Ken, yes Santorum is a creep, great song. One thing you may want to add on the words “I don’t belong here” may be to highlight the fact his house is empty in PA, so, he doesn’t belong there much less in politics.

The Panel with George Steph…… - I felt like I was watching three adults (Robin, Fareed and George Will) try to explain something to a child (the AEI guy). George Will is reality based and his insistence that the will of the people or the Congress is irrelevant to the Chimp if he wants to start World War III is the scariest part.

I don’t always agree with George Will but at least we are both seeing the same world!

I would really enjoy seeing a bunch of Great Blue Herons pecking the crap out of Lieberman.
Doesn’t have to be Great Blues, exactly. Any kind of bird with a giant sharp beak would be ok.

How ’bout Wood Storks? Really quite extraordinary birds, and they like carrion ;->

One of the tragedies of the Vietnam War was the number of young Americans that had to die after it was obvious that the US didn’t belong there and couldn’t win any way other than bombing them out of existence. At that time your real enemies (Russia and China) were content to just watch America waste lives and resource and chuckle over vodka about the stupidity of America.

The wrongness of the invasion and occupation of Iraq was obvious to many (myself included) before it began and just becomes more obvious daily, but still the talking heads and the politicians bloviate about how reversing course will only make it worse. To anyone old enough to remember the seemingly at the time endless, last years of Vietnam it’s like deja vu or Groundhog Day.

Unfortunately the rest of the world isn’t sharing laughs over drinks while they enjoy the spectacle of Mighty America plundering its own wealth and youth in a misguided attempt to hi-jack the resources of the rest of the world.
There are so many more forces in play, as the Chimp so clearly doesn’t comprehend (Amb Gailbraith re:Bush - Sunnis/Shia)and the strategic oil based interests so much more immediate than with Vietnam. Today it seems much more likely that the big boys could start throwing the big ordinance in a heartbeat following a faux pas that this administration has proven they are so capable of making.

It is also Groundhog Day in the drumbeat to attack Iran - identical to Iraq just trade and n for the q. This administration certainly doesn’t have the diplomatic skills to bring anybody on side with an attack on Iran (except Israel, of course) especially Russia and China. Another pre-emptive attack, on Iran most likely, would unleash forces that would make the “flowers” of Iraq truly seem like being greeted as liberators.

Who cares who’s willing to call whatever is going on in Iraq civil war or not. When is civil war going to break out in the United States?

And, furthermore, Joe Lieberman is NOT the Democratic Party’s candidate. He has been, in other words, booted from the party. So he is lying. He is not a Democrat and the more he insists on this the more pathetic he appears. The only reason he gets so much face time on TV is that he’s part of the Bush circle jerk, and the pundits feel “comfortable” with a Vichy “democrat”, an appeaser and enabler like they are. As far as I’m concerned, and speaking as a COnnecticut voter, I feel that we’ve already won. We kicked Lieberman out of our party.

On MTP this morning McCain said most constitutional scholars disagree with Judge Taylor’s decision. Bullsh*t.

At least we know that McCain believes in the unitary executive garbage, for Republicans anyway.
