I’m an expatriate American active in Democrats Abroad for many years. I’ve also lost a loved one brutally in the Iraq war in 2005. I implore you to talk about security, terrorism, war, the Middle East, and foreign policy. You cannot allow the Republicans or DeWine to define this debate. We need to articulate a strategy based on internationalism, alliances, cooperation, and international development in war-plagued regions.

Vote For Jennifer Brunner for Secretary of State in Ohio.
Brunner’s victory would be key to starting the process of straightening out the election irregularity mess that now exists in Ohio.

As would having Ted Strickland win for Governor in Ohio by trouncing the horrid current SecyofState Kenneth Blackwell (imagine a male Katherine Harris in size 14 shoes – only worse – in charge of counting his own votes and everyone else’s in the state).

What a terrific idea. I’m sure Sherrod would be happy to help Ned ‘land on his feet’ in the Senate. It’s a complex business, that. He’s been in the House for enough years that I’m sure he knows exactly how everything works.

I need to explain something. We have absolute NO connection of any sort to Sherrod Brown, other than having been constituents of his for years. He wouldn’t know any of our family from a hole in the wall, if we met on the street.

I think we must have moved to OH before his political career started, and every time we were ever aware of his name popping up, it was for positive reasons. We’re excited by his candidacy because we have watched lo these many years, and the man has ALWAYS stood up and performed as advertised. He seems absolutely driven in his determination to help others.

He can be as tough as you want, but he’s never jumped into the gutter that I know of. He’s a genuinely nice fellow, honest, and incredibly hard-working and effective in the House. He will be fantastic in the Senate.

BTW, it didn’t come up today but I believe his League of Conservation Voters rating is 100%.
That’s another HUGE plus in our book.

I’ve got his contact info and have been to his page several times. I’ve also been doing a lot of background research on him. I’m planning on putting together a big post about him this weekend and announcing my plans to move back to CA. I’m actually moving into a condo about a mile away from his campaign office. Unfortunately I won’t be there by early Sep. Right not it’s looking like sometime between Sep 25th to Oct 1st. I’m trying for sooner but it’s not easy to move your entire life for over a decade across an ocean. It’s not cheap either and I’m far from being “of substantial means”. :)

The operative paragraph is:

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.

(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and
(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq.

It does not specifically call for a land invasion.

That’s not what Gerstein got wrong. He apparently told Tweety the resolution calling for regime change back in 1998 — when Clinton was President — authorized the invasion. When Tweety asked Ned about that, Ned correctly said that resolution authorized aid to dissident Iraqui groups — hello, Chalabi, this one’s for you — not invasion.
