Download Bush’s Brain, DVD on Karl Rove Available in all its Gory Detail, on “Download-to-Own” Through IndiePix.net

IndiePix announces distribution deal with BeBe Films
for the re-release of this title on September 1, 2006

Marketing campaign will direct consumers to the Indiepix.net
download site to purchase title for $4.95 per copy

0 0 0

NEW YORK, July 27, 2006–Indiepix.net today announced that BeBe Films, Inc. and IndiePix.net have concluded a non-exclusive distribution agreement for the re-release of this film using IndiePix’s patent-pending “Download-to-Own” electronic distribution technology.

“Bush’s Brain” is based on the book of the same name by James C. Moore and Wayne Slater. Published by John Wiley & Son in early 2003, the book was made into a documentary film that premiered at the South-by-Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas in March of 2003. It was released theatrically on August 27, 2004 and later to the DVD market on October 12, 2004.

The re-release of this title will feature a blog-marketing campaign that already has the commitment of blogs accounting for about 2 million page views per week. (With the industry average 1.2 page views per visit, that amounts to over 1.6mm visits per week.) The blog marketing campaign is still being organized, and the parties expect that additional blogs representing at least another 1.0mm page views per week will be added to this list. The blog campaign will run for 8 weeks.

In addition to the blog campaign, several dozen Radio, TV and print interviews with the filmmakers about this film are expected.

IndiePix will provide download services include web-site listing, credit card processing, electronic delivery, and project accounting. The download will be managed on the client side by the IndiePix Disc Factory, available as a Windows XP or Mac OS-X client as appropriate.
Scott Abramowitz commented that: “the release of the OS-X version of the IndiePix Disc Factory will be a watershed event in the development of download technology – making DVD quality downloads available to the Mac community for the first time.”

The file to be delivered will be watermarked using the PixelTools “MPEG-Escort” technology recently licensed by IndiePix and included in the IndiePix Disc Factory. Licensing will be at the “forensic level” which specifically identifies every download with the information identifying the download transaction. A “slate” at the beginning of the film will replace with usual “FBI Warning” with a “Thank you for supporting Independent Film” and a notice that the content is protected by the PixelTools MPEG-Escort.

Joe Mealey, co-producer of the film noted that: “each customer who purchases the title will be encouraged to make a few copies and give them to his or her friends.” This will acknowledge that the disc can be copied and that “fair use” copying is specifically supported by this download technology. Bob Alexander, President of IndiePix, said: “we believe that our customer is not a criminal, and that the best approach to protecting the copyrighted content we want to distribute is to reinforce the social contract between the customer and the filmmaker. This initiative does that.”

In emphasizing the ground-breaking nature of this announcement, Alexander said: “This is not an off-television product resized for display on a thumbnail! This is a full featured, menu driven, DVD movie designed for presentation on the finest home theater systems! It has great festival credentials. And it’s got an attention grabbing theme. Releasing this film through our ‘Download-to-Own’ technology – at this price point — helps overcome the distribution barriers that may have prevented people from owning and seeing this title in the past.”

Just when you thought it’s all been said about Mr. Bush, along comes Bush’s Brain, a strikingly honest and deeply informative documentary which chronicles the history of the most powerful political figure America had never heard of… until now. Currently, he is the center of the CIA leak scandal. Now everyone can’t stop talking about Karl Rove.

Bush’s Brain serves as a guided tour through the one of the most dramatic political partnerships in American history — between George W. Bush and his nefarious Access-of-evil Senior Advisor, Karl Rove.

Bush’s Brain tells how a nerdy political consultant with an acid tongue, a zealot’s conviction and a long memory for enemies and slights who played dirty ever since his years in the College Republicans during the 1970s is running (ruining) our country. Rove’s masterful manipulation not only succeeded in winning Bush a second term, but helped secure Bush the honor of Time magazine’s 2004 “Person of the Year.” Feared and admired by Republicans and Democrats alike, Rove has raised a new and disturbing question for America: Who really runs the country?

# # #

Bob Alexander, president of Indiepix.net, commented that: “Distribution is a key issue for indie filmmakers, and achieving our business objective requires us to break down the barriers that prevent filmmakers’ work that deserves to be seen from being available to consumers. This new technology helps achieve that objective in ways that benefit consumers, benefit filmmakers, and grow the audience for indie films.”

IndiePix is based in New York City. For more information see their web site at www.indiepix.net

Jane,

I just gave another $50.00 to Ned, as well as first time $50 donations, to Amy Klobuchar, Tester, Rowley, Mejias and because of today’s story on this blog, another 50.00 to Sherrod Brown. I’m still sore about Hackett, but what the heck–Ohio is after all a potential pickup. So, I’m clearly no fan of Lieberman or any Repug when I ask that we be more precise. You mentioned Lamont’s lead amongst Veterans but left out that Joe carried active duty troops. Unlike the Repugs (and their boy, Lieberman), we can’t afford to in anyway give our folks who battle wingnuts, any incorrect impressions. Having the impression of something that later turns out to be different than we think, can undermine those of us who do battle elsewhere (i.e. Yahoo and other spots where Wingnuts and Joe apologists appear on the net). We can’t afford to be blind sided! The portion of your link that I’d point out that needs clarification:

“Given the the intense focus on the Iraq war in this race, it is interesting to note that there was a divergence in how voters connected to the military voted. Areas of high concentrations of voters currently serving in the armed forces were more likely to support Lieberman, but areas with high concentrations of veterans were more likely to support Lamont.”

Yes, Lamont carried Veterans–but those who serve now (and I don’t think this counts those in Iraq Now), went for HoJo. I do believe this difference reflects those who served early in the conflict (i.e. the new slime boat vet types) and not those who see the totally unnecessary current disaster.

If I knew this difference, I’d be in a better position to debate those who still support Joe–or the Repugs who are supporting Joe for their own reasons.

I called Sen. Pryor’s office and got some business about Loserman being his friend and mentor to which I said fine, have dinner with the guy, but support the Democratic primary winner. They wouldn’t talk to me about his role in the DSCC.

I called the DSCC and was assured that ALL money raised would go only to Democratic candidates (including my own Sen. Menendez), and NONE to Loserman. He said Pryor’s ewndorsement was a “private” one (huh?); I encouraged them to plesae consider asking Se. Pryor to leave the DSCC.

Although I’m a member of the party, I’m no big-money donor, but the guy I spoke with seemed very nervous about my stated concern on where the money donated to them would go. All that to say, Keep Calling! If they think it will cost them money, they’ll embrace Lamont ebven more loudly and publicly.

Dan Senor was the main flack for the hugely successful Bremer CPA government in Baghdad. Frankly, I think he should be held accountable for his pumping that fiasco.

Plus, according to Wikipedia:

In September 2004, the White House employed Senor to coach and ghostwrite the speeches of Iraq’s interim prime minister Iyad Allawi during his visit to the US, in an effort to enhance the Bush reelection campaign. At the same time, Senor appeared on cable news programs asserting that Allawi’s positive remarks (vetted by him) supported the Bush Administration’s rosy view of the Iraqi occupation.

One of our big problems with Lieberman hasn’t so much been that he supports the war in Iraq, but that he promotes a rosy view of the situation there that is completely disconnected from reality.

And here he is, signing up a guy who’s been one of the main purveyors of that surrealistically rosy view, whose office was responsible for press releases like Optimists Club Organizes Baghdad Chapter, Unveiled: The New Logo of the Iraqi Olympic Team, and Iraqi Olympic Hopefuls Arrive in Colorado to Start Training, as Iraq was going up in flames in early April 2004.

That Lieberman would sign up a guy like this to help with his campaign speaks volumes about where Joe’s head is.

But the Rove phone calls make EVEN MORE sense if Rove is preparing for the possibility of a Democratic takeover in the Senate and wants to make sure that he has his tongue in the ear of the committee chair.

Thanks for my laugh of the night, w0551! I always wondered what the phrase “having someone’s ear” was euphemism for, and now I have the perfect image (e-e-e-w) to accompany it.

But the Rove phone calls make EVEN MORE sense if Rove is preparing for the possibility of a Democratic takeover in the Senate and wants to make sure that he has his tongue in the ear of the committee chair.

Dan Senor was the main flack for the hugely successful Bremer CPA government in Baghdad. Frankly, I think he should be held accountable for his pumping that fiasco.

And Campbell Brown had better not get near covering this story.

JABbering Stooge @ 90

Incidentally, I hate to be a party pooper…

Somehow, I doubt your statement. But what the heck, we’re a big tent party, so poop away. Would it be too much to ask of your Stooginess to use the back corner of the tent?
