We call it Wingnut Welfare for a reason. Reich Wing Affirmative Action. It’s an intricate web of familial and corporate connections dating back more than a hundred years, and without it Ann Coulter would be hard pressed to find a job that didn’t involve a meth-lab, a corner lamp-post, and a public defender.

But you see, that’s exactly why she is doing this. Because when her “career” as a pundit dries up–when her books no longer sell, when the papers all stop printing her tripe–that streetcorner is precisely where she will go.

And when that day comes…she’ll be the most sought-after “lady of the night” of them all. Every male (and perhaps quite a few females) from the extreme right to the extreme left is going to want to fork over $300 bucks U.S. just to be able to have his (her) way with The Crack Ho Formerly Known As The Shrill One for 1 hour. Possibly longer. The left-leaning will do it because it’s a talisman of how far The Coultergeist has fallen (and also to keep her from getting back up again). The right-leaning will buy her because…because, I don’t know, they’re just supafreaky that way.

But I think you overlook an even more fitting image to compare Ann to: Joanna Lumley as Edina in “Absolutely Fabulous.”

Went and read your post at your site, and loved the thoughts you assembled while supplying an addicted nation! A taste, to encourage others to check it out . . .

They brought us Abu Grahib, Gitmo, Abramhoff, Delay, Alito, Enron, Exxon, Cheney deals made with Big Oil behind a door sealed by the Supreme Court, stripped us of civil rights, K-street earmarks, Duke Cunningham, 9/11, voter fraud, fear, racism, war profiteering, gross negligence in the Katrina aftermath, Terri Schiavo, civil war in Iraq, nuclear arms by North Korea quadrupled, Iran on the brink of nuclear abilities, Osama in the wind and worldwide contempt.

Just to hit a few highpoints.

This is the tedious drip, drip, drip that is soaking by osmosis into the American consciousness. Folks are starting to get the hint that running a Republic is not a spectator sport.

You may have hit on the best image for the Bush admin: the BP mess in Alaska. Not just the “drip, drip, drip” part, but everything else – most of problem is out of sight, the potential consequences are huge, the unglamourous work of maintenence is neglected for years, and it involved large amounts of $$$ . . .
