Actually, anyone can buy a license to use a song. Regrettably, it take a proactive move by the artist or writer to prevent it. All you have to do is contact the publishing company and pay a fee.

It may have been a one-time use right or he may have bought a multiple use license. the number of uses is almost always specified.

I’d contact the Stones’ management directly if you want to try to get them to yank the license. They can afford it, that’s for sure.

I personally have had to approve evey usage of my songs including the Natural Born Killers soundtrack and Grand Theft Auto to just name couple. You can check out 43 A of the Lanham Act usage.

I dedicated the song and video for “My Patch” to the voters of Conn.’”My Patch” goes out to all of the voters who got tired of getting egged and brought down the big turkey in Connecticut this week.’
The title of my piece this week “We’ll Bring You Down” is a referene to the lyric in “My Patch” and also how I feel as a registered but pissed-off Democrat.
