We must be getting close to yet another American election cycle, with the Republican pols down in the polls ~ as we can see from here your ‘Terror Alert’ lamp is lit, (on a day when Mr. Bush & Ms. Rice would otherwise be enduring in the U.N. a humiliating defeat vis-a-vis “diplomatic efforts for cease-fire” in Lebanon, the Third Front of the War On Terrorism). And even the most careful, informed commenters, such as our own Professor Juan Cole, does write with apparent certainty:

indeed. well, Nothing Really Happened, did it? And, we have no reason to presume the guilt or innocence of anyone apprehended thus, do we? And i daresay, since Extra! Extra! Read All About It! …everybody does know all about it anyway ~ let us begin to speculate as to WHY this nothing happened event, perpetrated by persons yet unkown, has befallen us {grin}

Well, we know that the reason is not as simple as, “They Hate Our Democracy.” That sounds like something an otherwise able but drunk seaman would say; i mean, that reason is not even reason-able.

Perhaps the reason that Nothing Happened, happened, is that Mr. Bush did, or did not do something, Over There, or Over Here ~ that he shouldn’t or should’ve. It’s all up to him, don’cha know ~ everyone else having breakfast in America, watching the “Shit Happened Show” on their empTeeVee’s is helpless, if not happy about shit that does or didn’t happen ~ We’re all just JAFO’s “Just Another Frigging Observer,” as they write on the helmets of the weapons officers on those two-man attack helicopters and fighter-bombers.

Or perhaps the reason that Nothing Happened, happened, is that those ever-vigilant secret service folks foiled a secret plot (it is more plausible, if not reasonable, n’est-ce pas ? )

But if that’s the case, we’ll never know, will we? (it’s all a secret).

And, besides, i’ve got RUBBLE FATIGUE, and even without the BANG BANG, this is “GOOD NEWS”.

I’m waiting for my call back from the Edwards campaign. Donna Edwards signs are going up around my neighborhood. Yesterday morning I was privileged to see Congresswoman Waters in the hotel across from Ned’s Campaign headquarters. She was VERY interested when I mentioned that I was going home to volunteer for Donna Edwards campaign and asked if she had a shot. I don’t have a feeling about that yet but hopefully I will after some canvassing. I just don’t want the good feeling from the CT campaign to go away.

I hope she does have a shot. Edwards seems like her views are more in line with the majority of that district than are Wynn’s. Cripes, when was the last time Wynn had a reasonable challenger? Almost not since his very first campaign.

Remember the fruitloop Republican that kept running against him year after year? The guy’s two platforms were to 1. restrict “brothels” from being built/operated next to elementary schools and 2. to require all Maryland gun owners to buy and use the safety locks his company makes (the company is probably run out of his mother’s basement).

Team Bush really needs another attack to happen before the election – by O’Loofah’s “logic”, the GOP has now crossed the line into treason.

This one appears to have been a more serious plot than the last few “foiled”, but then again they always appear that way at first. Even money says that by tomorrow, it turns out a few Arabs planned to meet for mugs of coffee and orange juice before taking a flight to a sales conference.
