With an abundance of caution I’d like to report that with polls just closed…people are very happy here in Connecticut.
I talked with Ali who is in from DC working on the GOTV and she said GOTV efforts in New Haven "kicked butt." She said the turnout in the targeted districts is through the roof. By the afternoon the Lamont campaign had already pulled all their primary precincts in New Haven (already made contact with everyone in that precinct, they already voted or they are going to vote) and had moved onto secondaries in the inner city.
According to Tom Matzzie of MoveOn, there were 4600 people phone banking for Lamont through their site yesterday. He estimated that conservatively there were 80,000-90,000 live calls made by volunteers. Meanwhile there are only anecdotal accounts of what happened to the paid Lieberman effort on the street, but the reports are that the Lieberyouth were tossing flyers, 4 of 5 at the same house, not even bothering to hang them. A DeStephano volunteer told Matt Browner-Hamlin that they were coming to Lieberman headquarters, taking their money and dumping shit they were supposed to be delivering in the trash.
Mattzie says that he thinks there were close to 2,000 volunteers in the field for Lamont. We won’t know until later what the final numbers are but it looks like the volunteers of the Lamont campaign smashed the paid force Lieberman tried to buy with their millions.
We’re hearing we may know something about the results in within the hour. Stay tuned.
You can find results here.

Jane, thanks much for the great news about turnout. As you know that carries nearly as much weight as Ned’s victory.
sounds like Ned had the greatest ground game… joe must be wondering how come all that money didn’t buy him luv…
KOS on KO was more than OK!
Ned RULES!
Can I just say that I’m really proud of Jane and Christy and TRex and, well, everyone? This has been an awesome campaign to watch and to (humbly and mostly vicariously) participate in.

The link from the Lamont site appears to be bad. You have to add “.com” to the URL where it tries to send you.
Even then, I haven’t seen any results appear yet.
Senator Lamont has already won. Just the formality of counting the votes is all that remains. And he’s going to beat the Republicans this fall too.
Nothing yet…
Love the workout we’re getting running up these flights of stairs. Where’s Lotus with the snacks?
Does C-SPAN attract the dumbest people imaginable? From a Connecticut voter:
“Lieberman said he’d run as an independent if he lost. He could split the vote in the state and let another Republican into the senate. So I voted for him.”

However it turns out, this is a victory for all Americans. After twenty years of watching national politics devolve into earmarks and ad budgets, I’m overjoyed to see droves of Nutmeggers turn out for an August primary. I’m heartened to see voters energized by a campaign of principles.
So much is going to be said about who can take credit, and who should take the blame. Even more will be said about What This All Means for the Democratic Party. Despite all that windbaggery, I’m sure the pundits will still miss the most important story: conventional wisdom, long grown bleak and cynical, has been turned on its head.
There is hope for America.
Criminy … is the whole state of Connecticut hosted on MyHostCamp?!?

CT State Election Results
The old ‘hunt and peck’ typing style gives y’all plenty of time to answer my question. Thanks Firedogs.
It was great to see Liberman on the ropes for the entire campaign from a virtual political unknown. I have to say initally all the posts on this race were a bit much. Jane and Christy hooked me. I have been following for some time and sending the few people I know in the greater NY area links about Ned so they can tell their friends if they have any.
The Roots made a difference in this race. This race is just the beginning. We are bringing little d democracy back to the people of America. Better sooner rather than later. We the people are responsible for what our government does in our name. It is about time the politicians heard our voices loud and clear.
Feeeeeel the adrenaline.

Latest MyDD:
After today’s evidence of the Lierberman campaign’s failure to perform due diligence in obtaining campaign web services, I find myself thinking that even more rides on this race that I’d assumed.
The anecdotal evidence sure seems encouraging for Lamont. I assume that at this point, Holy Joe is in a state of shock. So be it.
Thanks to all who worked so hard; it’s been a stunner to observe the activity and enthusiasm from a distance. If Ned wins (when Ned wins?!), I propose a Kiss Float Christmas Tree Ornament for 2006 — funds to benefit FDL ;-)
Either that, or a Kiss Float Garden Ornament… ;-)
To the genius minds behind the Kiss Float, I bow to your greatness.
Please do not celebrate yet. 2% of votes is nothing. Unless we have 30% and every single district goes for Ned, then I will relax. I have seen too many premature celebrations.
By the way how is that 5:00 Victory party for Joe going. :)
Imm, put that tenure load down and join us for as long as it takes!
High turnout (and excellent GOTV coverage) correlates well with my experience phone banking, where most people I actually spoke to had already been polled by phone several times.
That said, the predictive power of early results depend crucially on which precincts they are from and what turnout looks like across the unreported precincts. It’s very difficult to project without a complete voter model–which as has been noted many times, nobody has for this race.
Sit back, have a beer, smile at the earlies, but don’t get cocky yet. 2004 turnout was very high for the presidential race…
I thought the early results were going to come from small counties, which were more conservative.
Who’s up for a Kullerpflaume? Go good with one of these hot conch fritters!
Man, this is exciting!
Have been on pins and needles all day – thought 8:00 pm would never get here, and now it’s just as agonizing watching the votes trickle in…
Just have to say how proud I am of all of you who have worked so hard on this campaign; I hope you know what a great service you have done for your country, and how grateful we all are.
Ned’s campaign has been a model of civility, in no small part because of the person Ned is. Good guys can finish first, and it’s about damn time, I would say.
Great job, everybody!
