TRex and I are in Connecticut and we'll be reporting from the ground all day on the Lamont/Lieberman race. Already there are reports that there have been attempts to disrupt access to Lamont campaign offices, and Lieberman has imported street teams from Congressional Black Caucus member Chaka Fattah's Philly-based political organization (very interesting to see competing members of the CBC flexing their muscle and vying for power in the situation -- Maxine Waters has put everything she has into backing Lamont and pulled out all the stops. She's been absolutely amazing.)
Kirby and CTBob will be doing some live video blogging today over at his place. Favorite quote overheard so far today: "Sorry MSNBC there's no room for your camera on the stage, we have to make room for Spazeboy."
Let's just call this "the new politics" and enjoy watching it evolve. Photo above taken by CTBob of me and Valley Girl (who works on FDL troll patrol), who I got to meet for the first time at Sullivan's last night. This has been an amazing experience no matter the outcome.
I'll be back frequently throughout the day. Oh and the next media outlet that lets Dan Gerstein spew his hysterical, unsubstantiated bullshit unchecked really needs to be held to account for it. He really is the poster boy for the Lieberman campaign and everything that is wrong with it.
UPDATE: Colin McInroe has some turnout observations, for those who have been asking, along with a lot of other observations and reporting from CT. He'll be on the radio as well -- you can find information on that in his bio. We'll get a link up as soon as we can get one for his online stream. -- CHS

Trouble posting!
There we go! NED!
my nails are already bitten to the quick.
and I don’t bite my nails!
Ned
JANE!
VALLEYGIRL!
NED!
Jane and fellow FDL’ers.
I only post once in a great while. I’ve watched this whole Lamont campaign grow and evolve over the last couple of months. Living in a blue area in a red state thousands of miles away, you wouldn’t think I’d be paying this much attention to this race. Truth is, I am sitting my cube at work, nervous as the rest of you.
Jane, TRex, thanks for sendign in the updates. I know I’ll be clicking refresh very often. Watching this whole thing grow has been VERY exciting. I wish I had a job that made it a little easier to get away and volunteer on projects like this. I am pretty sad I missed the boat on this one. Next big rally, I’m there. I won’t pass up the chance to meet you all in person again!
So.. I’ll stop rambling. THANK YOU!!!
EPU’d:
Ok…I’m terrible with time zones. If they hope to have results by midnight in CT, what’s that, 11pm Central? 10? Don’t you dare tell me it’s 1 or 2. There’s only so much coffee I can handle.
C’mon CT!!! Don’t disappoint those beautiful smiles! Bring it home NED!!!!
From last thread:
Does anyone know Ned’s birthday stats? When and where?
timewarp @ 113 & Fini FiniTOOBZ! @ 81
Thanks for the input. I already had Joz info and I said it doesn’t look good for him. He should actually take a long vacation…or retire! LOL
!!!
11pm Central
Lou Costello, this got EPU’d from the last thread:

NED!
ROOTS!
JANE!!!
So far so good…I’ve been postering in Stamford and Greenwich since 6am (”Vote Ned Lamont Today!”), and have also been giving rides to the polls in my hybrid (I even walked into the booth with a blind gentleman and pulled the lever for him, first time I’ve been in one of those things with company). The Lamont street presence seems far stronger than Lieberman’s. Must. Keep. Hustling…
Glad you guys are rocking in New Haven. I thought about coming up last night, but 5 am gets here pretty quick.
Posted an update from Stamford last thread, back out in a bit.
I’m staying at the Sheraton tonight. Can’t wait to meet all of you face to face.
Go NED!
the light of intelligence shines from your eyes, Jane & Valley Girl
when the counting’s done, may connecticutites show the world that intelligence has won the day
Tear it up, Jane. PLEASE keep any attempts at fraud or disenfranchisement in the forefront, and don’t be afraid to ask some of those MSM bastards why they’re not covering it.
I’d vote if I were there. Out here in CA, it’s time to think about who we want to replace Boxer and Feinstein.
But remember this: anyone who voted for the war also voted for (and condones) every single consequence as a result of that war.
AND…anyone who supports Lieberman also condones every terrible consequence of the war. You can’t wash your hands of it with words or even with actions. Who and what you support defines you. That’s why Boxer has to go. Sher voted against the war, but that vote is negated by her support of Lieberman.
Finally, once this day is done, win or lose, please take a moment to learn about Jon Tester in Montana, running against the reprehensible Conrad Burns. Take your Ned fervor and apply it as much as you can, to progressive candidates throughout the nation.
kai rocks.
Jane, Lamont’s site says the “disruption” referenced in your post “is all good.” (Installing parking meters.) Unless there have been other disruptions, you might want to change that information.
I have fingers and toes crossed for Ned.
Yaaaaaaay Valley Girl !!! Yaaaaaaay Jane !!!
Woooooooohooooooo !!
What knock-out beauties you two are!!
Go NED !!!
With all our hearts - and profound thanks,
A hopeful American Family …..

Lotus, you might want to form a FireDogLake reception committee for Joe and Hadassah…
It is my sincere hope that all of you working on this in Connecticut get to have a post-election party that is the rockin’est, most mind-blowingly orgasmic celebration EVER (until November, that is, when we’ll take this to an even higher level!)!!!
“unsubstantiated bullshit unchecked” abbreviated would be UBU, who is of course the hero of Alfred Jarry’s play Ubu Roi, the first piece of surrealist literature …. for some reason, this seems significant to me.
Main stream media conrolled by neocons is hysterical and predicting gloom and doom for Democratic party in case their favourite Lieberman looses in this primary. Wall Street Journal, Fox news CNN are al spinning and trying to scare voters of “impending disaster” for America and the security of the country because of the lunatic lefties and their crazed ideas about peace instead of war.
I can see a real panic in the “establishment” because both parties are owned by same corrupt money bags and their cheerleaders in media. It is time to throw the bastards out and clean up the stables.
Ahhhh, so that is the mysterious “M”.
Hey Jane, hey Valley….
Back to writing.
Susan — all that means is that they’ll be done by noon. It does not explain the curious scheduling. I stand by my post.

I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. A commenter over at the NYTimes Empire Blog said that Lieberman’s hosting service had confirmed that their site was down because of a DOS attack. I haven’t seen any confirmation of that anywhere else - have any of you on the ground there heard anything definitive?
You just made me cry, X!
Hopeful and happy tears, mixed with pride.
… and the backstage curtain flutters aside for a glimpse at Jane and Valley Girl. Aren’t you two the most beautiful?
G’morning from PDT, still wishing I could be in Connecticut for your victory party tonight! Your reports will nourish your far-flung admirers and pals, please don’t forget to keep close your toobz friends.

We need a date!!!! Time would be even better, but probably too much to hope for now…
Since its the same date as the day Nixon resigned, we decided inthe last thread August 8th shall be known as Democracy Repair Day.
It is interesting that there is all of this attention paid to the Lamont/Lieberman race by the punditocracy. How it is a sign of a “civil war”, how it is being driven by the “far left nutjobs”.
I haven’t seen any analysis as to how Tom Delay is crawling through the gutters to avoid his election because of his corruption, how Bob Ney was forced out by his own party because of his corruption, how Ralph Reed lost his bid because of his corruption, how the darling of the far right, Rick Santorum is in such desperate straits that the party is trumpeting a sitting senator with an 8 point deficit against a newbie challenger as some sort of a great comeback.
Seems to me this is the much bigger story. The party that is in total control of the entire body-politic in the nation is on the ropes–yet somehow the media has been focusing solely on the “left-wing insurgents”.
Strange stuff indeed.

Here’s the update on the joe2006.com web site, via TPM Muckraker.

But that doesn’t give the actual day…I can do without the time of day…but the date a must!
THX for helping and I’ll let you know if I find anything else.

What time did the 1st polls open this am? 6 or 7 am?
timewarp 43 - 6AM as i understand it
Jane, I don’t have any experience with back-east old machine politics, so I tend not to assume the worst. You’re probably right to be suspicious.
6 am
6 this morning I heard.
In reality…what’s the ballpark as far as results coming in. I saw something at Kos that said around midnight CT time. But those would probably be the preliminary results before Joe’s cohorts pull up in the van with the 35 cases of “ballots”.
That’s so tacky. Really though, does anyone know when we’ll have a good idea which way this is leaning?
Guitar Playing Bastard @

Right! Testor-Burns is probably the second-most important race in the country, and Jon Tester is great!
GSD40
- and if I may add to your excellent analysis, TradMed continues to treat the Florida Senate race, in the state where BushCo2 is still governor and where BushCo was sElected in 2000 and 2004, as some sort of femininity minstrel show, rather than the electoral curiosity it is. I mean, Florida can’t elect a GOP Senator this year? That’s news, ain’t it?
And the Rhode Island GOP primary, too!
My theory: the talking points for covering the fissures and crackup of the GOP haven’t been faxed from Rover or TradMed’s owners, so the commentariat doesn’t really know yet what’s safe to say. Therefore, as always when there’s no clear concensus and actual thought might be required, the punditocracy says nothing.
What is the deal with GOTV phonebanking? Moveon still has the same script up that they had yesterday, which is doing voter ID calls. You don’t do voter ID calls on the day of the election, you call pre-identified Lamont voters only and remind them to vote. Is that being done by the Lamont campaign? Can it be done from out of state? If so, who do I contact? I want to help.
We should have some results by 9pm
Tester is fantastic and that slimeball Burns has gotta go!
Mwahahahaha…where shall we wield our power next?!
In the photograph, which one is Jane Hamsher and which one is “Valley Girl”? I’ve scoured the page but there’s absolutely no way to find out.
Hurray for people powered politics
Hurray for we the people deciding that WE are the deciders
Hurray for NED’s excellent Primary Adventure
no matter the outcome of this election
we have already won
and the beltway bloviators know it
so hip hip hurray….
Chris Matthews just said he thinks “it’s going to go Lamont’s way” just not sure by how much ; )
Any exit polling happening?
“Sorry MSNBC there’s no room for your camera on the stage, we have to make room for Spazeboy.”
Now THAT’S funny. Maybe we really are moving closer to a meritocracy…
Phil @ 51
Excellent. Thanks for the FYI! Now, do we know about absentee counts and things like that? Do we expect a true result late tonight or will it take an extra day or two to finalize? (Of course if it’s blowout then that’s that…but if it’s tight as we expect….)
God Bless you all — the hubby and I both called last night and, while he’s ok today, I’m worthless with anticipation, nail-biting, etc. Jane, I never did get a chance to give you my support over the outrageous response to that picture but I strongly feel both you and DarkBlack were unfairly maligned (they play dirty: so what else is new?) Hope your wounds are healed — judging by that picture, they seem to be!

Teddy,
I totally forgot about the Kat Harris debacle. The woman who was the point person in the 2000 election fiasco has been all but abandoned by her party and that is also not a sign of a “civil war” or of disarray in the Republican Party?

I want to post this first question from Howie Kurtz’s chat this morning, particularly for SteveAudio if he comes around this thread. I was heartened, as I think he will be, by the report of the Schiavo-motivated Lamont voter….
(my emphasis)
Lieberman’s just done too many things quite wrong-headeed in the past eighteen years to deserve re-election.
Nice picture, so nice to put names and faces together. Go Jane! Go TRex!
Jordan @ 53
Jordan, the one on the left is VG. Jane’s photo has been all over the place, I’m not sure why you don’t recognize her.
As for the DOS on JoeMentum!’s website…why would any Lamont supporter do that? It’s like a gimme to whiney Joe’s it’s so unfair! campaign theme. Surely everyone on our side knows that? I strongly suspect it of being run by one of the LieberYouth, on Lobbyists for Lieberman’s orders.
neurophius @ 50
Me, too. I was expecting MoveOn to have GOTV and instead, I’m a pollster. WTF?
Using horary rules on the open polls chart, not a good day for any incumbant in CT.
Luck is on the side of Ned and the people of CT. And the applying Full Moon is a wonderful thing. Not ever good for those in power. Saturn conjoins the Sun, so we have a Fisher King kind of thing going on….and doesn’t Ned make a wonderful grail knight?
just got done with calling a buncha folks in CT, courtesy of moveon’s scriptage– 40 answering machines, 3 people, 2 undecideds and 1 Lieberman. I hope that trend isn’t indicative of the rest of the turnout…
(and, btw, I’m glad I’m rarely rude to people working phones, because this really sucked)

Phone work is tough, but kinda cool. Especially when you get a positive supporter who appareciates the reminder.
Great to see VG up there! I hope she got to hook up with her friend.
A DOS on WATB’s site? LOL! Too funny.
And Spazeboy has top billing over MSNBC!!!!!!!!
neurophius –
The Lamont campaign wants all of it’s phonebanking to be done in state — caller ID and all that.
If MoveOn still has their voter ID script up, it does not speak well of their organization. They should have shifted to the identified voter GOTV script. Maybe there is a different linky at the homepage?
If you want to make calls, use MoveOn, but write your own script — ask if they are Lamont supporters, and remind them today is election day.
Other than that, sit back and watch . . .

I found his birthdate to be Jan 3, 1954 - but no time of birth. However, the Hartford Courant (8/6) gives the following description of his chart:
Lamont’s chart shows he has all the tools to be the top dog, as long as he can maintain respect for power. On his day of birth, Venus and Mercury were on his sun in Capricorn. His natal sun-Venus combination makes him likable to the public and a good salesman. The rest of his chart shows him as an aggressive fighter who won’t take “no” for an answer. With his well-placed Mercury on his sun, we see an effective speaker; and with his moon in Sagittarius, indications that the more he is able to focus on what he’s saying, the more he will benefit.

I’m thinking the MoveOn canvassing, right now, is counterproductive and probably ought to be discouraged. Any other thoughts?

– plus TradMed might want to mention New York State, where a – what? – nine-term GOP governor seems unable to pass the statehouse keys to anyone but a Dem. And the National Governors Conference (dominated by the GOP) had no one from BushCo or Congress to speak to them this past week, while they fretted about unfunded mandates, welfare re-reform, and National Guard federalization.
No, you are correct: there’s no script for full meltdown of the ruling class. So we don’t hear about it at all!

Actually, I think the “pajamahadeen” is pretty funny. Too bad it’s based on faulty assumptions, sigh.
Have you ever noticed that a lot of Chris Matthews’ snark seems based on jealousy? I swear the reason he was/is so nasty to Bill Clinton is he, Tweety, wishes he could get away with having an affair. “Pajamahadeen” probably comes from his wish that he, too, could do his work without having to wear such constricting neckwear.
Okay, so that’s Jane and Valley Girl. Go Jane! Go Valley Girl!
“The column claims stars are lined up for Lieberman!!! Arggghh!”
That’s SO silly. The stars–Paul Newman, Danny Glover, Babs, Jane, Redd, Karen Allen, TRex, CT Bob, siun, etc.–are TOTALLY lined up for Lamont.

Zergle, I’ve got this antique Gateway POS monitor with a little wheel thingy behind a door below the screen. Most of the MSM, but not all. Yesterday I began to hear a “whatever happens, this has served notice” message from Howard F. on KO and someone else (maybe Candy Crowley, not in the taped story but afterward) on CNN. And Chris Matthews just all but endorsed Lamont. He’s urging all Connecticut voters who oppose the war to go vote because it makes a difference. I suspect that if HoJo manages to squeak through, Matthews will focus on how narrow the margin was. We’ll see, I guess. And how are you, BobbyG? I hope everything is going well in Las Vegas.
Anyone else seeing all the text for the last 10-15 comments in underlined and highlighted? I have hit F5 but to no avail. Just mentioning it FYI
Pajamas?
Everyone working their asses off in Connecticut is in their pajamas? Well, shit! Now I AM sorry I didn’t go!

Like dannyboy, I also fear that moveon calling today would be counterproductive. We would be calling people, not knowing whether they were Lamont supporters or not. Even if it was useful to remind Lamont supporters that the election is today, we would be reminding Lieberman supporters of the same thing. I don’t intend to do it. I hope they are better organized in the fall.
Kai @ 12
God Bless you, Kai, and everybody else working so hard.
KathieinMN @ 82
They are not!
Exit polls are discouraged in this country. All over the world they’re used as a way of identifying election fraud, but here they’re dismissed as being “inaccurate” when they don’t agree with vote totals.
It’s simply better not to do any exit polling than have them show results different from the official vote counts. This is what the Bush government prefers.
Pajamas?

Haha! Well - that should do it then!
Fingers crossed from the Great White North.
One of the strangest things about this race, as seen from a northern perspective, is how shocked the MSM is that someone would challenge an incumbent.
So much of the standard commentary focuses on the fact that Ned in “inexperienced”, as though merely being a citizen, a volunteer teacher, and a business owner is somehow insufficient and disqualifying. So much is made of Joe’s years of service with the implicit, and sometimes explicit assumption, that this is required to be considered a legitimate candidate.
The whole thing seems so undemocratic. Shouldn’t there be a vigorous primary? Shouldn’t any citizen be able to stand up and challenge the orthodoxy?
And yet, for whatever reason, I haven’t heard Ned answer the (sometimes rude) challenges with this simple assertion: The very essence of the American experiment is “government of the people, by the people, for the people” and why shouldn’t any of those people have the right to stand for office?
Ned’s quixotic campaign is democracy at it’s most pure and simple. Why can’t the bloviators see or acknowledge this?

If defeated, Lieberman would be only the fourth incumbent senator since 1980 to lose a primary election.

I am sure that some of these same media pundits were repeating George W. Bush’s spin points back in 2000 about how Al Gore is “from Washington” and therefore inherently corrupted by the politics of incumbency.
Now of course, we have the perjorative “inexperienced” being flung at a very successful businessman and outsider to the Washington establishment.

Well, best wishes to Lamont & everyone out there in CT working to make this happen. Over the weekend I had a thought I wanted to share with everyone. Regardless of the outcome, the Republican campaign machine is in full terror alert mode. How else can one explain the fact that right-wing donors are financing no less than two non-republican candidates (Lieberman in CT and the green party candidate in PA) in races where they would otherwise have spent much less to run. Every dollar they spend on a non-republican is a dollar that doesn’t go to GOP cronies. And let’s face it… Lieberman may not be a loyal Democrat, but he’s no Republican either. If he should win today’s primary let’s not forget that either, and let’s continue on to the next battle for the heart and soul of this great country of ours.
Do make room for MSNBC — Chris Matthews really does deserve credit for enthusiastically pushing GOTV. Somebody should share with him the great historic moments of this day. Out with the old, the corrupt, the chicanerous…in with the New, the Nedrenaline.
Complacency must have its last gasp…pumping up the voting matters.

I think they see it, and it scares the shit out of them. To acknowledge it would be writing their own obits. It’s why you call them bloviators. Good on you!
Well, if “experienced” means bought-by-lobbyists, enabler-of-BushCo, and entitled-to-my-Senate-seat, I think “inexperienced” may be the voters’ preferred label come this November. Remember how lame-o RGJoe sounded talking about the pork he brings home to Connecticut — especially when CT is 49th of 50 in bacon-brought-home?
Freaked-out Canadian:
Yes, Joenertia is “experienced.” He is experienced at doublespeak and gobbletygook. He is experienced at fence-straddling. He is experienced at ducking the bullet. He is experienced at schmoozing. He is experienced at saying one thing and doing another. He is experienced at keeping the lobbyists happy and the money flowing in. He is experienced at selling out his party and his constituents to prop up the president and give “bipartisan” cover to the opposing party.
So much for “experience.”
Teddy, soon I expect they will have you answering questions in your own on-line chat, you are getting so good at asking them! Way to go (again)!
Interesting that Lieberman has a “victory” party scheduled for 5pm today.
No one will know the results by then.
Methinks he is trying to generate positive press regardless of the primary result, in anticipation of his independent run.
Lamont supporters will keep working right past 9 o’clock. No parties unless victory is achieved.

Nice!
Looks we are on the same wavelength today, Teddy.
wxyz - another bonehead move by Lieberman…at 5 pm, you have the after-work crowd heading to the polls. Why would you give them the option to attend what amounts to a free happy hour when they should be voting? And isn’t this just part of the old Lieberman “I’m-Entitled-To-Win” mentality on display, too?
But, hey - it may work in Ned’s favor, so I hope the turnout for the Lieberman “Wish This was a Victory” party is huge.
Lotus-saved your email. I just turned on a friend of mine from Orlando to the lake. She wants to get in with us too…let me get with her first.
MSNBC (no Tweety yet) just reported that the Lierman official campaign Web site is down. I think they also said Lierman’s e-mail is not working? The Lierman campaign is saying this is an attack by their political opponents.

I just laughed out loud. At work. Which caused my law partner to figure out, I ain’t workin’
Rats.
That was very funny.
beth meacham @ 68
Beth, I had the exact same thought.
MSNBC quoting AP quoting Lieberman campaign that their website has been hacked by Lamont supporters.
Smells Rovian–if bloggers are J-Lie’s big nemesis, blame them for his troubles.
Rapid Response Team, get at this!
Chris Matthews called us the “pajamahadeen”!?!? It’s not funny. That is sooo bullshit. Did he refer to himself as “a self-important turd”? If anyone sees him out there, let him know that I think that would be an appropriate description of him.

How’s that book coming?
Everybody Feng Shui Tonight. (logo on one of my favorite tshirts)
Lamont supporters are applying feng shui principles of rearranging energy flow to dissolve chronic patterns of difficulty, failure & stress in the Democratic party home. Not that I know a lot about feng shui but, it seems to fit.
Interesting that Lieberman has a “victory” party scheduled for 5pm today.
I’ll say it’s interesting … to researchers into no-brain science. With the ONE huge exception of Alligator Bag’s, Joe’s campaign has got to be the most antic, tone-deaf political outfit anybody ever heard of.
I bet Fiona’s Sunday School class could run a better race than these nitwits. Pa. Thet. Ic.
neurophius @ 140
Joe: you mean Democrats?
After all, we mastered the Toobz!
Don’t think I am not following this.
WOW!
Lierman campaign says they’ve been victimized by computer hackers who support their challenger.
Grandmaj,
Me too, what is happening with the comments?
GSD @ 63
I’m not so sure that K Harris is a sign of disarray among the GOoPers. In the primaries, candidates win by running to the base. In the general election they (almost) invariably tack hard to the center. The GOoPer problem is that their base (the christofascist followers of people like Dobson, Falwell, Robertson et al.) is way to the right. K Harris is their darling, and they got her the nomination.
The problem is that K Harris can’t win the general (against Nelson), and the GOoPers know it. That’s why they didn’t want her running for this Senate seat. Unfortunately for her, she’s a party animal and didn’t have the sense to say, “Fuckyouverymuch” and run in 2004 at an open seat. She might well have won the primary in ‘04 and had a shot at the general with the open seat and Dubya’s coattails such as they are.
Not my problem, though. I think it’s a more a sign of how far the GOoPers have moved toward an american fascism than it is a sign of disarray. The civil war was fought years ago, and the fascists won. I’m a Democrat as a result.

Oh ok. So you don’t need a brightness adjustment, you need a catapult adjustment. :-)
Freaked-Out Canadian @ 110
You are so right, FOCanadian.
Yesterday my politically aware, but not as plugged in as Mom, older son sent me an email asking me why the MSM (he won’t buy cable) thinks it’s so irregular for someone to challenge an incumbent, as in Connecticut.
“Isn’t that, like, democracy?” he wanted to know.
The Hail Mary pass.
So the story line if Joe loses is that angry evil left-wing bloggers–which is of course synonymous with hackers–killed their Web site, and that crippled their GOTV operation.
MSNBC says, “could it be dirty tricks?”
I don’t believe that Joe’s campaign is computer-savvy enough for the crashing of their Web site to have any significant effort on their campaign, anyway.
Good deal, cc. I may haul in an extra or two, myself — chat witcha later.
Let’s see…
We know the Lieberman campaign has engaged in nefarious campaign tactics such as: fake Lamont bumper stickers; race-baiting flyers in church parking lots; lobbyists posing as voters heckling Lamont…
How many dirty tricks has the Lamont campaign been accused of? There is no reason to believe Lieberman’s web site problems have anything to do with Lamont. They’re either self-imposed through incompetence or it’s intentional disruption to be used as a propaganda tool.
I’ve been so impressed by the visuals that I am seeing here in North Carolina–On TV last night, picture of Joe looking down and scowling with the picture of Ned, his chin up and a smile on his face–very upbeat! In our local Raleigh News & Observer paper this morning on page three is a Washington post article by Dan Balz about the race. The interesting feature were large pictures of each candidate at the top of an almost full page spread–again Joe is looking down at mic of someone interviewing him while the picture of Ned is full on with the mic in front of him, chin up and a big “Jimmy Stewart” type smile.
Go NED!
August 8, 1974 NIXON announces his resignation. My 31st birthday. Reagan in the middle of his 2nd term as Gov. of Calif. HAD ENOUGH? It’s a good day when one of ‘their own’ is shown the door.
Prairie Sunshine @

Yup - MSNBC is discussing it as dirty tricks. Hmmm…let me see - perhaps they took it down themselves so they could blame the Lamont campaign on election day??
AppleCanyon - re-load your browser and you should see a return to “normal.”
Lou Costello @ 111
Watching the wrap-up interviews yesterday, I was struck by how relaxed and healthy Ned looked, and how utterly stressed Joe looked.
Add that constricted whine to the picture, and I’d say Joe needs a nice cuppa Chamomile Tea - - and a long vacation.
Oh ok. So you don’t need a brightness adjustment, you need a catapult adjustment. :-)
Hah?
The web site thing for ol’ Joe is a dipshit without proper planning skills. They probably went on the cheap and didn’t pay for the appropriate bandwidth consumption. Hell, it’s more likely their own campaign brought it down when everyone went running around saying “go check out our cool new site!” It wouldn’t take more than a few hundred hits on a graphic intensive site to start causing bandwidth issues if it wasn’t appropriately planned for.
The primary vote is well underway by now, but let me offer three words of support from the Corn Belt:
JUCK LOE FIEBERMAN!
…or something like that.
MSNBC is really flogging the “Ned’s bloggers crashed Joe’s Web site” story. I think this is the third time they mentioned it in five minutes. Fear not, Noron is on the story now…
Oh, I got it, Zergle. Finally. Vedgeheads are slow on the uptake, but we eventually get there.
neurophius @ 113

As in…place monitor in catapult, open window, and launch!
That’s my supremely tech-savvy way of saying you need a new monitor.
In actuality though what you are seeing is the monitor’s on screen adjustments. It works kind of like a TV on screen display if you were trying to adjust colors. It should give you an option to change your contrast and brightness, but you may have to play with the buttons for a while to figure out how to navigate it properly.
Rapid Response Team — get out there…O’Donnell on MSNBC’s steno-ing the Rovian Lieberman camp’s spewage. She talked to Markos? Hey, how about talking to Lamont, or campaign spokesmen?
Given that all the reports about the Lamont campaign people at the polls are of clean-cut, nice people, no one with any sense is going to buy the Lieberman campaign’s or MSNBC’s spin on this.
I think the media just get anxious if more than 10 minutes goes by without anything to put a “Breaking News” banner on.
I’m also pretty sure a Lamont campaign person will be in MSNBC’s face - in a nice way - pretty soon.
Of course, because it’s not like there aren’t a few million hackers out there willing to do a thing like that just for the attention. No point asking questions if you can just jump to conclusions, right? That’s what the media are for.
Now MSNBC is saying that according to Lamont’s campaign, Lierman’s site is down because he didn’t pay his bills…LOL
twolf1 @ 119
AND, the blogs I frequent are obsessive about getting to the truth.
Now that’s a threat to the teevee “news”.
Lieberman’s “victory” party at 5pm before the polls close is dirty politics.
He’s trying to convey the absolutely false message to the voters that exit polls which don’t exist in this race already suggest he’s the winner and discourage Lamont supporters from voting after work as if there were a lost cause.
That sneaky bastard Lieberman will do anything to protect his ass.
lotus @ 169
No problem hon…you got all that Nedrenaline going right now with better things to think about!
Tweety is pushing Lieberman campaign guy hard on whether he can really say it was sabotage. Lieberman guy just keeps dishing out innuendo.
On August 9, 1974 Ford said “Our long national nightmare is over.” We will say the same tomorrow and then work our asses off nationwide until November to MAKE IT SO!
neurophius @ 174
…and that’s probably exactly what it is. They paid for the site, but not for the bandwidth consumption they generated. I love it when the Internet illiterate jump into the pool with both feet before looking if there’s actually water in the damn pool.
Lieberman guy says they have asked law enforcement to investigate–but admits he doesn’t know who is responsible–it’s just the fact that Lamont has benefitted from bloggers, and now he refuses to stand up to them…a pattern…Lieberman is “deeply troubled” by it…
Freaked-out Canadian:
US media resides in an alternate reality along with the administration & republican party. Upper wh official told Ron Suskind they create reality & the rest of can just watch. That’s why watching msm is like seeing Twilght Zone remakes.
Now, c’mon - whoever of you is hacking poor Joe’s website STOP IT RIGHT NOW!.
I know, I know….no firewalls, still on dial-up, all Windows-environment, like shootin’ fish in a barrel, etc., etc., but STOP IT RIGHT NOW PLEASE!
They REALLY need to sell their office equipment on eBay by 5 PM.
Tweety is really giving this Lieberman guy a hard time.
Lamont’s people should say:
“Joe Lieberman’s office is making unsubstantiated and irresponsible slurs and, at this point in the campaign, this reprehensible behaviour should be seen for what it is: A sign of desperation, and an attempt to distract voters from the important issues at stake in this primary.”
Sean Smith defined!
;-)
MSNBC airhead mouthing Republican talking points, “the left wing of the party, the anti-security wing of the party…”
speaking of smarm, where did this guy Sean Smith come from? What is his background? He reminds me of Ken Mehlman.
Lamont campaign now saying of course they didn’t do it, and they condemn it, and would like to see Lierman’s site get back up as soon as possible.
Lieberman’s website
The host for Joe2006.com only offers 3 hosting plans with the largest plan offering 10 Gb of data transfer a month. Assuming an average webpage size of ~ 50 kb, this allows only ~200,000 hits a month - or ~ 5 per minute. For most sites that a lot of space, but for a campaign like this I speculate it was not enough and thus the failure.
timewarp @ 188
He reminds me of Shepherd Smith, that creepy-looking anchor on Fox News.

I’ve been watching this play out from thousands of miles away (about 6000 in my case). Just another lurker who’s followed along via FDL, donated to Ned early, etc. So thanks to all of you for all the hard work. I’m nervous and excited like ya’ll. And my only wish (aside from a fist to face meeting with Dickie Goodstein) is that the “after story” narrative sold by the press at least picks up the real reasons behind Nomentum’s ouster. This is not a pacifist, loonie anti war fringe movement. This is about selling out your constituents and your party. Actively cozying up to the opposition and selling “compromise” which has no give and take, only give.
These beltway wackjobs stuck in this angry hippie narrative about Dems from circa ‘68-’73 just piss me off. Buncha lazy, dense, stuck inside a DC fishbowl clowns.
Go NED. Go Jane.
Back to lurker mode.
P @ 190
Ooh, you ought to phone MSNBC with that. AND write them at feedback@msnbc.com
McGee @ 182
Nice one, McGee. I don’t think anyone involved in the Lieberman campaign speaks enough computer to get the joke, though. They sure didn’t know enough to have a backup system in place if a server went down, and that happens at random, or when the moon is in the wrong phase, or someone sneezes, as far as I can tell. Gerstein’s just mad because he couldn’t come up with anything better than stealing signs.
I voted in Trumbull this morning. There was a steady but light flow of voters at 8:45, but the poll workers said turnout was very good for a primary. As I was walking out with an elderly couple (I had them pegged for Lieberman supporters), the woman came up and said “who do you think will win?” I said Lamont, and she agreed. She had a Hungarian type of accent, and just cracked me up when she said ” You know why? Because Lieberman got the kiss of death from Bush!” I’ve been smiling ever since.
“These beltway wackjobs stuck in this angry hippie narrative about Dems from circa ‘68-’73 just piss me off.”
Anyone who blindly and hatefully criticizes the 60’s and 70’s, that included the Civil and Feminist Rights Movements, a successful end to Viet Nam and a quantum leap in First Amendment rights, is either a barnacled old fish or some of its spawn. History is repeating itself and this sea channge is all the more powerful through Ned Lamont’s humanity and dignity. These traits need to be the standard for furthering our return to a Constitutional Democracy. And, please forgive the Mariner metaphor that found its way into this post, but, there is a lot of open water that this movement, led by Lamont’s flagship, needs to traverse.
Hey McGee@182
Checkout Daily Kos…they show that Lieberman didn’t pay his web bill…nobody hacked him!!
How are the votes being counted and tabulated?
What’s this? Super slowdown on comments?
Dashed away briefly. Has the first MSM reporter yet asked J-Lie’s campaign if they paid for their bandwidth? And, war-gaming what-if scenarios, asked if they’re going to apologize to Ned Lamont for trying to cover up their own incompetence with the tactics of smear and sleaze?
KathieinMN @ 82
The column claims stars are lined up for Lieberman!!! Arggghh!
http://www.courant.com/news/lo.....-northeast
I’m still trying to catch up. I’m thinking the BBC is wrong about his birthplace. Sally at astroworld has his chart birth data as being born in New York, NY. She had to use 12 noon as the time (a solar chart), I’ve googled everything and can’t find a documented place of birth.
I’ve cast two reports of his chart using both birth places and because both cities are so close together it only affected his house cusps etc., by about 3 degrees is all, the basic aspects and planets remained the same. I’ll try to convert a graphic of his chartwheel and get it posted, I have his Advanced Natal Report done in a file, if anyone wants it email me please.

Sombody’s probably already reported this lift from the News Blog story, but I thought it was a pretty good money quote for Karl Rove’s fat ass: “‘They hate Bush but they use the same tactics as the Bush campaign,’ said Dan Gerstein.”
Would you care to elucidate on that, Mr. Gerstein? Just which tactics would you be referring to and could you perhaps give us a name or two to fill in the empty spaces?
Couldn’t get back my post in time to edit it. I’m missing a set of blockquotes. My personal comments start (after the last squiggly line) with this sentence:
“I’m still trying to catch up. I’m thinking the BBC is wrong about his birthplace.”
Thanks for all the hard work you guys have been doing.Great job! read bradblog to see what is happening in Ga. to McKinny. Hope none of these desperation tactics happen in Conn.
“Each time a man stands for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” Robert Kennedy
Today is about hope! Hope that our long national nightmare may be ending. Hope that the light exists and most assuredly the darkness has not overcome it. Hope that despite the lessons of history we can make the changes that will stop the sanctioned killing of innocents, restore the enviornment, deliver care to the sick and weak, improve our schools, value truth and find the courage to deliver peace not bullets to the rest of the world. I stand today a proud Liberal. Thanks to all on the front lines who have delivered this grace to me!
Go Ned!
UPDATE: Colin McInroe has some turnout observations, for those who have been asking, along with a lot of other observations and reporting from CT. He’ll be on the radio as well — you can find information on that in his bio. We’ll get a link up as soon as we can get one for his online stream. — CHS
Here’s some help finding him. It’s “Colin McEnroe”. HTH. Go get ‘em.
Cheers,
I can’t believe Lieberman’s speech. What a jerk!!!
