gotta say, whether or not this was a hack or just the rank incompetence it appears, Joe’s people did an amazing job spinning it. In terms of political imaging, it’s brilliant. The website hack story provides a fully detailed miniature of how Joe has talked about the race to this point: the radicals from computerland went over the line and prevented Joe from talking about the issues with voters. Then they used their superior connections with big media types to get their version out - a version that for bare credibility relies on near complete ignorance of what a website “hack” actually entails. And assuming that he doesn’t go down in a total rout, it gives Joe a readymade victim-position going into an indy run. Talk about lemons to lemonaide.

[…] Of course, the nutroots and the Lamont campaign have furiously denied hacking Joe’s site, and blamed it on Lieberman’s techs who didn’t take strong enough precautions against hacking. Remind me to ask Amanda Marcotte about blaming the victim; she’s opposed to that, I understand. […]

Markos: “I don’t think it matters whether Lamont wins or loses” in terms of making people take the blogosphere seriously.

For people interested in the power of the Blogosphere, check out this link here about Technorati blog statistics and analysis, including how we rate against the MSM. Short blurb: Blogosphere is doubling in size every 200 days at this point, and while the MSM still holds the “top spots”, we’re catching up.

Go Blogosphere!
