I just want to say how nice I think it is that the Lamont people are rising above the level of dirty politics being engaged in by the Luddite LieberLiars and their techno-challenged Hail Mary "liberal dogs ate my server" pass in offering to send a competent tech person over to fix Joe’s site.
The problem could’ve been fixed 15 hours ago if they’d bothered to simply switch their normally low-traffic site to another server when it began, but it seems to be serving their purposes. I’m frankly at a loss to explain their reluctance to accept any help from the Lamont campaign, or secure it for themselves.
Can you say ratfuck?
Matt Stoller has more.
FYI: Colin McEnroe just noted that the Secretary of State had projected 40% turnout this morning, and has now upped it to 50-55%, which is unheard of. You can stream Colin’s show here.
Update: Kos says:
[I] have the definitive answer as to why Lieberman’s site went down.
They are paying $15/month for hosting at a place called MyHostCamp, with a bandwidth limit of 10GB. MyHostCamp is currently down, along with all their clients.
Here’s the deal — you get what you pay for. My hosting bill is now over $7K per month. A smaller site doesn’t need that much bandwidth, but if you’re paying $15 because your $12 million campaign is too freakin’ cheap to pay for quality hosting, then don’t go blaming your opponent when your shitty service goes out.
Hey, Camp LieberLiar got the day’s worth of publicity out of it. No downside for them, right?

The Lieberman campaign told MSNBC’s Bob Sullivan they couldn’t send him any emails with any information because of the attack on their website. What a bunch of BS.
Even if it’s true that their hosting facility is so third-rate that their email server can be thwarted with an attack on the website… they want us to believe that there is no way for any of them to even send a single email to one specific address? None of them have an email address other than joe2006.com?
50-55%? And they say bloggers don’t know how to throw a proper party!
Did FDL pay the bill this month? It sure is slow–hopefully from millions of hits from FDL folks.
Al Gore ! (for inventing the Internets)
Is high traffic causing the site to slow down, or are the LieberThugs going after this site now?
When the voting is over and you are all celebrating tonight in the Hotel, could you pass a basket around for donations for Connecticut Bob? I think he needs a new laptop.
I will gladly donate.
Riddle me this, fdl’ers; how on Earth will the Lieberman campaign’s all-day whine-fest about evil liberal hackers do them any good at all? I’m not being snarky (well, not too much), I don’t see what the upside is for them. If turnout is over 50%, and they get beat, how is this going to smooth their way into an independent win in November?
Jane –
No title appears for your post: perhaps “Politeness – What a Concept!”
Ned! Ned! Ned!
And thanks for the radio link!
High turnout is good for democracy, right?
FDL is humming again. Back to normal speed for me :)

Must be hectic, hot, exhilirating. Can’t thank you enough for this place.
When we toast tonight, you’ll be included.
Kick their asses right now.

This whole cyber-attack story is going to blow-up in Lieberman’s face. I can tell it already.
They can’t send any e-mails? Pshaw.
They haven’t gotten a mirror site online yet?
Nope, this is a bad Rove play and it will be shown to have been an inside job.
I can smell it from here in New Hampshire.
-GSD
50 – 55% wow! Did anyone think that kind of turnout was in the cards?
Jane! Still rockin’!
i have been by two polling stations in little east lyme. it’s been a busy place each time i passed. of course i voted at 7am. i am so anxious that i may explode before the results are in. so i keep coming here to find out what is really going on.
Thanks for radio link.
It’s great to have topical radio commentary. Geez what a nice change.
Wow 50-50% is truly remarkable for a primary in August.
Does higher turnout usually favor the challenger?
Dover at #7: they couldn’t send the guy an e-mail? What, were the cellphone towers part of the mass left-blogger conspiracy, too?
This should’ve been a 15-second story, dammit.

Long-time lurker, first time poster…
I am at work and don’t have access to TV, so I don’t know precisely what is being said. However, I *am* in IT Security, I can tell you my feelings on this.
First, Joe’s site was NOT DoS’ed. If it was, we wouldn’t be able to reach the site so easily, so that’s BS.
Second, it *is* possible that the site was hacked via a SQL injection attack. If this is true, this is the fault of Joe’s tech people. Protecting a site from SQL injection is not rocket science, and the code is readily available on the Internet (if you can get through the tubes).
Finally, as mentioned elsewhere, this could be a simple case of not paying the bill to the hosting provider. What we see is, indeed, a common cPanel message. But this doesn’t make sense, either, since they have access to change the front page of the site.
This leaves only option two (from what I have seen), and it wouldn’t take more than five minutes to remove the offending code, restore the site, and be back and moving. Total time? 15-20 minutes? Maybe?
There are script kiddie tools out there that can do this kind of damage, and if that’s what happened, the joe campaign people have nobody but themselves to blame. Attacks on servers are frequent, and they should know this.
Otherwise, it’s a simple ploy by the joe people. I don’t go for conspiracies often, but I *know* how long it should take them to get their site back, and it shouldn’t take them this long. I can only conclude that joe’s IT people are incompetent (and that’s terribly tough for me to say) or this is a conspiracy.

(putting on the tinfoil hat . . .)
About all I can figure – if this is the case – is that they wanted to get their supporters really ticked off and angry, and thus increase their GOTV efforts.
Helluva gamble, though, if their computer crash squashed their regular GOTV plans. OTOH, if you know you’re gonna go down in flames if you keep doing what you’re doing, then maybe someone is desperate enough to try something like this.
(removing tinfoil hat)
fire pups are WOW
Later on, you can find voting results here.
In 2004 the schedule went like this:
First Reports from Counties: 8:35 pm ET
20% of Precincts Statewide by: 10:00 pm ET
90% of Precincts Statewide by: 1:01 am ET (Wednesday)
100% of Precincts Statewide by: 9:44 am ET (Wednesday)
I am going to repeat a comment I made earlier, they need a reason (semi-plausible) why they lost badly and are running again in the general (even if they haven’t decided if they will). The thing about the email being down is insane and I think that almost everyone in CT will understand that it is, but short of firebombing thier own offices it was the best excuse for blowing $10,000,000 and asking for more that they could come up with.
EPU’d:
According to Kos, he just confirmed that they paid $15 for the host site at myhostcamp.com with a total bandwidth limitation of 10Gb per month. The host is down all together. All of their sites are down.
So basically they spent less money on their campaign web site than the average AOL user pays for their personal home page.
We ♥ Ned !
LOL, Confirmed FDL junkie now.I have three tabs open for FDL right now. I kept refreshing the page on two and monitoring comments on the third.
I still can hardly keep up!
I vacilate between DOS attack and just a lot of Firepups wanting info.
I think the server thing will be a non-issue by tomorrow. One of the great or not so great (depending on your point of view) things about the internet is that almost all activity can be traced. It’s an easy question to find an answer for.
WRT “ratfuck,” perhaps we need a new term, such as “reverse ratfuck” or “inverse ratfuck” for Joezoe’s latest.

Somebody keepin’ track of these today?
Bustednuckles – LMAO! Loving every minute.)
FishGuyDave 23,
It’s pathetic. The whole thing is pathetic. I’m guessing that the “No site configured” message came up because some Lieberman staffer didn’t want Joe to look like a deadbeat when the billing message came up as the bandwidth threshold was exceeded.
If they had anybody with brains in their operation, they’d have a different mail server ready to go in a heartbeat. And setting the DNS to direct mail there is a no-brainer for any IT professional.
Why people like Chris Matthews, with ZERO understanding of the basic Internet protocols, would be trying to explain what’s going on is beyond me. They’re freaking *MS*NBC. They can’t put anybody with expertise in front of a camera?
Peterr @ 26
They want a basis to invalidate the election results.
From the NYT Empire Zone Blog:
“Dan Gerstein, a Lieberman adviser, said it was too soon to say if the campaign might try to invalidate the primary results based on a charge of voter suppression.”
http://empirezone.blogs.nytimes.com/?p=492
Joe doesn’t need Ned’s help since we all know there’s a lot of technical expertise available in the cloakroom. His buddy Ted will be right over to help.
“The Internet is not something you just dump something on. It’s not a big truck. It’s a series of tubes!”
Great turnout, peeps!

Tubes!
Thanks to all the CT posters who are giving us local updates. (I went to grad school in CT, so I consider myself a voter-in-exile.)
This is the most satisfying election I’ve experienced ever. The net has enabled us to speak to each other from around the country and the world, whereas in the ancient era we were all isolated. No more!
And I’m cautiously optimistic that the high turnout isn’t coming from voters determined to save Joe’s sticks.
50-55%! That would really be historic, if it pans out.
Joe! can’t send out any email? Day-um. I’ve got a whole bunch of gmail invites…I’d be very glad to give one to each of Joe’s campaign staffers.
How about the rest of you firepups?

A massive turnout is a very good sign, I think. Exit polls, anyone?
Teddy, I got the screen shot for the future autograph session.

DB 37’s fallacy:
If they had anybody with brains in their operation,
John Casper @ 25 — yes, that is a really fine comment. Good on you for bringing it over. (IMO)
I think now this silly accusation by whiny Joe is going to backfire on him. When the truth comes out that his website crash was because of his campaign’s incompetence/cheapitude, it will just make him look even more pathetic and less likely to win a POO Party * run.
* POO = Party Of One.
From the web hosting company’s web site this morning:
“SIMPLE * AFFORDABLE * RELIABLE
[…]
“At myHOSTCAMP.com the reliablility of our servers is unmatched (99.9% uptime), the expertise of our staff is second to none and our online support team is always ready to help.
[…]”we can ensure optimal network services.”
The company’s site appears to be down now… Does anyone know other sites hosted here? I’d be curious to know whether their other customers are experiencing similar problems, or not…
Robert P at 12:45, I agree.
EPU, very respectfully, I would invite you to consider that the server issue will be huge in terms of forcing Joezoe NOT to run in the General.
Joezoe will not want to answer all the questions FDLers are asking and especially what Jane raised in her post, adding server capacity. The only way to avoid answering those questions and admitting it was just his stupid attempt at a reverse ratfuck, he will withdraw.
I’m not getting a thing done today. The suspense is just killing me. Go Ned Go!!!
It sounds like maybe the evil bloggers should be writing to the corrections and ombudsmen of the news outlets regurgitating Lieberliars accusations against Ned.
Saw the picture of the voting machine lever at CT Bob’s blog. How secure are these machines? Don’t know where I read it anymore, but someone (a Congress critter or state candidate) was saying one areas machines had been tampered.
Phallic picture. Yes!
If J-Lie loses today and the “hacked website” whine can be proven to be false or even orchestrated, just another mistake that will hurt him in November.
Who benefits from this “denial of service” story getting so much play?
It ain’t Ned Lamont.
This is just an electoral version of that junior high kid who would come down with a stomach flu on the day of the test they knew they’d flunk.
I’ll say it again for the morons in the media…
Joe Lieberman…a sitting 18 year senator…had his campaign spend a grand total of $15 for the web site that was intended to handle his entire primary bid. Not only that, but they only allocated 10GB usage for the ENTIRE month.
This is 100% incompetence, and it puts patheti-sad Lieberman in perfect alignment with the administration he has championed for the last 6 years.
betcha they get their damn site up in time to send out resumes.
Problem: Receiving unwanted, unfiltered feedback
Solution: Become a victim
It’s understandable that Lieberman’s campaign doesn’t want their opponents touching their computers.
But they could have gotten the website back up by now if that were their priority, rather than playing victim for sympathy.
ABC @ 49
According to KOS ALL of their sites are down because of the bandwidth overload.
bustedknuckles, rootster…
I am making promises to myself (all broken) not to refresh comments more than once every 15 minutes. Go Ned (and thx mods!)
Joe aint alone! BBC
The Lieberman campaign’s desperation showed in their hysterical response to the server problems, immediately accusing the Lamont campaign. The cost of their desperate ploy, if it turns out not only that Lamont’s people had nothing to do with it (as I am certain), but that it was not even a DOS or hack attack, the Lieberman campaign will have advertised their paranoid hysteria and incompetence to everyone witnessing this election…with the exception of the MSM, or course, who are always next to clueless.
50-55% turnout for a primary on a hot day in August?
Damn!
Go Jane, Ned, America, et al!
I haven’t been this excited about an election since November ‘04…
This hacker story is Joe’s character in a nutshell. He’s a complete and total zero in the integrity department. Even if he believed it to be true, a stand-up guy would do some investigation before he smeared his opponent with this kind of garbage.
What.A.Creep.

Beyond pathetic. This is what bad strategy looks like, folks. Old world bad strategy. So sad.
Bustednuckles, couldn’t agree more — it’s like one big party, in the best way. Feels a bit like a Friday.
Perhaps a topic for another day (or another tin-foil hat discussion!), but why exactly don’t the MSM even take a peek at blogs? I mean, the tech aspects of posts here and dKos should be what their own internal guys are saying, no? I’m kind of left with the same conclusion about the media that I am with Joe’s IT staff: incompetance or complicity. Sheesh… what a choice!
merciless @ 12
That’s why I think they’re just trying to make the best of a screwup. I can see how it would be some advantage in the indy campaign to claim they only lost because of dirty tricks, but I don’t see it as being enough of an advantage to be worth trashing their website on primary day.
I think they didn’t think the website was important except as brochure-ware, they went for the cheapest possible solution, and are going on the attack to cover for yet another campaign screwup.
But enough of this non-story; any more reports from the field?
Best line I’ve seen all day, from “Joe Checkler” commenting at http://empirezone.blogs.nytimes.com/:
I cannot believe it: My rabid republican, Limbaugh Ditto head brother just voted in MY primary!!!!!
Republicans ALWAYS cheat!
bastard
I’d be interested to see what the reaction from the AG’s office is, now that the Lieberman campaign filed a complaint charging criminal conduct on the part of some unknown poltergeist hacker.
Peterr @ 26
Agreed.
If their site is down, so is their entire GOTV operation, I would think.
Want some “TinFoilHattery”?
RGJoe saw internals in the last 48 hrs that said he couldn’t win. He creates a stink, claims fraud or pity, makes his claim to want to give CT voters another bite…
Or they’re just stoopid.
John – I meant a non-issue in terms of Lamont. I don’t think Joe is going to run regardless of the “server” issue. I think the reality of losing once, and badly, will be enough to scare him off.
That candidate who cried wolf blitzer routine will only harm his standing more is true, but it is just one of many instances.
http://journals.democraticunde…..kinner/115
The story is total bullshit. See link above, they do have access to their own site.
When I was a reporter we didn’t report these last minute charges/countercharges because of the effect we knew it might have on the election. An attack on the opponent with no time for the opposition to respond is the oldest dirty trick in the book and my little newspaper wouldn’t allow it.
Fox is reporting that Joe voted with Bush 46% of the time in 2005
Dan Gerstein on the radio now… the poor Lieberman campaign cannot communicate with each other because their email is down… I guess 10 million dollars couldn’t buy telephones.
Now he is blaming the Netroots for ruining the democratic process.
Wah! Wah! Wah! Gimme a break.
merciless @ 12
MYDD has a good explanation. Give it a look if you have time.
SB_Gypsy @ 70
SB, how did he get registered?
Please comment the details here so that Ned’s people can file a complaint.
Or, if you’d prefer, email the info to Jane or Christy.
Maybe somene should email Kos’s explanation to that imbecile tweety…or SOMEONE at MSNBC…maybe they can get off their fat asses and do some investigative reporting.
The good news is this will make Joe look like even more of a schmuck if he runs as an independent.
tom — chicago @ 74
blogger ethics panel time? Maybe Tweety can moderate.
Has anyone swung by Joe HQ to see what level of activity they have going “on the ground”?
veruca @ 76
Did the netroots shut down the voting machines? Now THAT would be a story.
“John – I meant a non-issue in terms of Lamont.”
Sorry EPU.
Ned’s gonna be on Hardball at 5pm !
Mocha Dem @ 38
Voter suppression? You’ve got to be kidding me. Gerstein’s gonna have real trouble with that one.
A campaign has every right to have their promotional materials respected, from mailers to posters to lawn signs to websites. But voter suppression is a charge that goes far beyond this kind of stuff.
No one’s right to vote is taken away by the lack of a campaign web site. No one is prevented from voting because one candidate’s website is down. No one is turned away at a polling site.
The local elections officials have no doubt publicized the locations of polling places, sent out appropriate reminders to all registered voters, and done everything necessary to facilitate the election.
Gerstein’s problem at this point is that he hasn’t got a competent computer tech operation. No backups? (Oh, wait – Joe’s against any of that “Plan B” stuff, unless it involves petitions). He can scream “voter suppression” til the cows come home, but that doesn’t make it so, and it doesn’t solve his problem.
As the sign on my favorite administrative assistant’s desk reads: “Incompetency on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.” Save the screams of voter suppression for a real emergency. Like November.
Lamont will be on Hardball!
This hack story is so boring. Lets get back to the regular programming of on the ground reports.
Newtonuser (and all the others) – Maybe they’re just really bad losers? People always look for meaning behind words and acts, which the natural thing to do, but that doesn’t mean that everything does have meaning.
I’m going with the bad loser theme plain and simple. No great strategy, just refusal to accept responsibility for anything from the campaign staff. Does that remind you of anyone? It reminds of Lieberman, and somehow, I am not surprised.
Doesn’t Joe have a Plan B in case of something like this? What kind of a Senator doesn’t have a backup plan?
wait, aren’t timmeh and kos friends now? maybe jane could call kos to call timmeh to call tweety? is timmeh in townhouse yet?
is this too junior high?
I read that RG Joe just cancelled his 2 last scheduled bus stops…I wonder if they KNOW they are going down big and are trying to fiqure out what to do…According to this report Joe was going back to call mayors and big wig supporters….
Gerstein’s claim on the radio is that although they don’t blame the Lamont campaign specifically, since his supporters are the netroots, ergo, it is a “coordinated campaign” fo sabotage from the same.
Wolfie in Situ breathless as usual Liebermans website is under attack. C’mon, Cafferty, jerk this twerp back to reality.
Lamont – msnbc – now
They announced that Ned was going to be on Harball.
Lamont on MSNBC now!
This is just too much. The dirty campaign crap they’ve been pulling is so egregious (!) that I don’t think anyone should support Lieberman in the general. How dare he call himself a Democrat after using just about every page from the GOP playbook.
I say to hell with it, Lamont should not honor the nominee. But of course Lamont is too honorable to do that.
More from Kos.
Now if we actually had reporters on this friggin’ planet reporting this…
I haven’t read them all, but this has to be one of the ultimate pieces on Lieberman’s “polarize the party” scare tactics.
Chris Durang at Huffpo
LindaR @ 46
I love it! The Joe-nly member of the POO Party, havin’ a Pity Party to boot!
Ned just said on TeeVee : STOP IT if you are hacking Lieberman
CNN cameras are setting up outside the Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford. Camera guy says it’s for a Lieberman speech / event “around 9:00.”
No idea if this is scheduled, or what it’s for. NYT’s Empire Zone blog says that Joe’s cancelled the last two events of his ten-day tour “because there were not many voters at the polling stations.” Huh?
MSNBC – tweety asked Lamont about the hacking. Lamont denied and accused LIE of jumping to conclusions. Said was just one of many falsehoods in the lieberman campaign.
Someone should tell Joe that there’s another hosting service just 10 minutes away.
veruca @ 77
Joe’s heckuv-a-job campaign staff’s never heard of Hotmail, Yahoo email, or Gmail? Don’t they have cell phones? Land-lines?
Duh! What a lack of imagination. If they can’t even figure out how to use an alternate email why should voters put them into one of the most powerful institutions of the nation?
No one is hacking anything!!!
Someone was told to go buy a Cadillac and they came back with the hot wheels version!!!
This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. Like (are all-knowing leader) Kos and others have said, myhostcamp.com is down now, too! The incompetence is amazing. It’s not a DoS, it’s not SQL injection, it’s stupidity.
And, let’s be honest here: if Joe did want to communicate with “his” people, wouldn’t they be using the telegraph? The Inter-thingie is just so evil, and FDL proves that.
(Thanks, John C.)
Well,Tweety finally asked Ned about the website.
Tucker’s suck a jerk.

The vapidity and laziness of most journalists is fucking mind boggling.
Watching NECN at 4:07 pm EDT, they’re still saying Lieberman’s site was hacked. Has anyone contacted the news media with the actual story?
Joe doesnt do Plan B — after all, another webserver is just a short walk away …
Jeepers, I speculated last thread about Lieberman using this hacker story as one of the reasons to dispute the primary results if Ned wins by a hair.
I thought I was being paranoid and felt silly bringing it up. Yikes.
Think of the irony.
The CM disparages and tries to marginalize the internet, at least in its blog/netroots form, and now, all of a sudden, it’s the internets that is going to defeat Lieberman, but not those internets, the other internets.
Weird. And ironic. And true irony is a joy is something to savor.
This is like Christmas in August! I know what I want for a present if I stay up til midnight.
a bright shiney new SENATOR LAMONT!
DMM 109, I think your uncorrected statement was better.
“Hey, Camp LieberLiar got the day’s worth of publicity out of it. No downside for them, right?”
I don’t know. If Kos et al. can prove that Lieberman’s camp was just incompetent and throwing around scurrilous accusations on primary day then, if Lamont wins today, can’t Lamont use this to hurt Lieberman’s independent bid? Lieberman pulled out Rove’s playbook when he was desperate?
Working as I do in an office full of longtime internet professionals, this non-issue of HoJo’s ‘hacked’ site has had us rolling on the floor laughing our asses off all day.

Don’t forget, Mrs. Lieberman has a day job. But as soon as she finishes her lobbying for the Pharmaceutical & Insurance industries, I am sure the crocodile tears will be flowing.

Oh noes, I’m keeping my Schadenfreude, thanks so much!
*ilson, keep up the good work! Sending you big buckets of cold water and ice.
Long-time lurker posting today. I haven’t been able to get any work done either, and it’s been exhilarating watching this election. Lieberman’s campaign’s claims of hacking haven’t dented that one bit.
Although, I wonder if $15 would cover that “short ride” to another hospital…
To give Tuck some credit,he did say there’s nothing wrong with voting against Joe.Kind of stood up to that Clinton era idiot.Surprised me.
*ilson46201 @ 151
Unless, maybe, you know you lost the primary. This entire “Blogger/HaXX0rZ!1 ate my website” excuse is the essence of shrub: Reality making a mockery of satire.
Cuoj359 @ 1:12 pm –
What does it tell you when an attempt to connect to http://www.myhostcamp.com brings up http://www.suspended.page instead? Is it possble that the hosting company is in arrears to its Internet service provider or to its domain name registrar?
Joe Lieberman @ 156
LMAO.
I am getting no work done.
gotta give Eli the ED of Moveon.org props for his appearance on Tucker just now…
I am convinced that the Lieberman campaign tried to ship all their “internets” [e-mails] by truck, instead of using the toobz. They should have listened to Sen. Stevens.
I am personally willing to donate $15 right now to the Lieberman campaign so they can buy a new Web site and STFU.
Senator?
The CT Attorney General has opened an investigation into “bloggerhackergate” according to TPMMuckraker.com. This is stupid. Joe Lieberman is a desperate man who will destroy everything he needs to to save himself. His new nickname should be Gollum.
Ironically, if Lamont is the victor, all of Lieberman’s desperate tactics will serve only to increase the perceived importance of the internet and blogs. They aren’t as important as the TV mannequins keep saying, but because they breathlessly report it like it’s as important as the Iraq Occupation or the Israeli War the blogs will become powerful.
I guess this is what life is like for the trendsetters. Do your own thing and those who don’t understand imbue you with mystical powers.
ZERO work done!!! -but it is looking good via the signs :-)

or tell the truth.
or win voters for their guy.
Heck I’m surprised Joe didn’t outsource his website to Mexico. Wasn’t he a big NAFTA and CAFTA fan? :)
How many more hours till we know? This is driving me, well, nuttier.
I am just guessing but myhostcamp.com could be just a reseller, not a true web host. You know, one of those firms that buys bandwidth and disk space from a true host, and then peddles themself as a web host under a fancy name. Lot’s of those types lurking around the internet. Caveat emptor is the key with them.

I’ll chip in an empty diet coke bottle and some pocket lint.
Too. Damn. Funny.
or stay a democrat.
Okay — I just got push polled from a Republican potential candidate for Governor in my state — two years from now. Bizarre. No idea if the state GOP is fronting this as well, or if this was some sort of back-door support buy from the potential candidate. Boy did they call the wrong household. *g*
Just want to remind people to take a look at CTBob’s web site for his liveblogging and reports from Maura, etc. Fun!
http://ctbob.blogspot.com/
I also think the 5 PM “victory party” may have something to with the fact that they know the results. The “party” after the results are announced later this evening will be used to kick-off Leiberman’s new one-man “Leiberman for Connecticut” party.
dannyboy @ 174
Driving me crazy too — polls close at 8 pm Eastern time
Does MSNBC know something we don’t.
They’ve got Lieberman Heading for Humiliating Defeat? on their headline thingy. (Not the crawl)
I think Lieberman’s email problem is because the internet is made of tubes, you see, and these tubes get clogged…
I’ll join the chorus of those admitting to not working when they ought to be.
Go Ned!
oh dannyboy, the polls the polls are calling….

Wow.

Maybe it was a voter ID poll? Didja push back, Redd?
an official Israeli govt spokesman just told Blitzer that there’s going to be “a New Order in this region” — it sounded better when said originally as “Neues Ordnung”
Who could possibly work? I’m too verklempt!
Oh no. If there is an investigation ongoing about the supposed hack, then final tallies will be held up. Won’t they? Oh dear, I might have to turn this confounded TOOBZ thingy off to retain my sanity and calm my ulcers.
Here dannyboyT- @ 29
CHS @ 178 –
Why would they do that this early? Drumming up support to raise $$?
I cannot believe the Lieberman’s site is still down. Are all his web people toddlers? Seriously, this is pathetic.
If he can’t have competent people around him NOW, why should CT voters send him back to the Senate? It’s obviously too much responsibility for him.
Well, if Lieberman looses the primary and runs as an independent, we’ll have a new nickname for him… “Fifteen Dollars a Month Joe”

You could always try emailing CNN or MSNBC too…
I’ll throw in a bowl of Coco Puffs.
apologies if brought up previously — but from pat healy’s blog on nytimes:
“Dan Gerstein, a Lieberman adviser, said it was too soon to say if the campaign might try to invalidate the primary results based on a charge of voter suppression.”
unbelievable. it would be interesting to see how you could state a voter suppression claim that occurs on the internet.
but, but, it’s my seat, ned don’t you see?
While we wait, should we maybe contact the various Court Stenographers with KOS’ explanation and our outrage at Lamont and/or bloggers being accused. The firepups creating a firestorm of protest, if you will…
*ilson46201 @ 113
Nice, I’m gald you picked up on that.
I hope this Lamont victory sends one message to the GOP. We will clean our house, how about you?

MSNBC — Lieberman Heading for Humiliating Defeat?
Any defeat for HoJo will be humiliating, but I think he’s going to be crushed.
We need to start thinking about nice things to say, in case Lieberman endorses Ned Lamont tonight . . .
twolf1 — best laugh I’ve had all day (or maybe I just need one more now…)
Stephen Parrish, CPA @ 1:22 pm (#166)
Tragically, I just clicked on the http://www.myhostcamp.com link you provided, and it’s still trying to load as I write this. I think they have some serious problems, whatever they are. I’d hate to try to guess what either a busy site or a redirect to a bogus page might mean. My first thought is that they aren’t very good at running a website, and $15 a month isn’t going to buy much bandwidth.
That KOS diary that Mocha Dem linked to in the last thread is a good analysis. They don’t have firewalling (which helps explain why the diarist was able to complete a scan so quickly, BTW) and also mentions the redirected page. If their site was operational, you’d either see a standard message from that site or from some other valid domain.
I’ll repeat my warning regarding scans – don’t do one without the permission of the site owner. It’s bad manners and is either illegal or considered an attempt to break into a site in some localities.
They WANT the site down. How else is the CT Attorney General going to conduct an investigation? Just hearing that being reported (well, on TPM) is disturbing… lends credence to the b.s. claims…
. . . and your little dog, too @ 184
Naw. The question mark is everything. For example: Apocolyse Now?

Flush twice FireDogs, It’s a long way to Washington!
NYT’s Empire Zone blog sez, per Dan Gerstein, “at this point, the Lieberman campaign is not considering challenging the results of the Senate primary on the basis of a voter suppression charge.” So they’ve got the CT Atty General looking into it, but they’re not using that complaint as the basis for a primary challenge. I guess the unspoken word here is “yet”.
Rove (and Lieberman) fight dirty. Dems (Lamont) are “classy.” Republicans win more than they lose, even though they’re holding a terrible hand. Dems gotta learn to fight as dirty as their opponent if they want to win.

You have GOT to be kidding me. For any government official to waste any more time on this ruse is truly an obscenity. Joe, you are a tiny, tiny man without a life raft.
TeddySanFran @ 121
HOO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA SPLAT!
Teddy, you too funny!
I don’t trust the Lieberman campaign for a second not to ratfuck themselves to smear the opponent — an old Rove move, though he did it with tapped phones — and it accomplishes several purposes for them:
1. Gives ‘em a reason to contest the primary;
2. Gives the GOP Govt, under the supremely Orwellian rubric of helping the people vote, an excuse to crack down on the blogs/internet as a whole, or at least to push the Ted Stevens legislation;
3. Gives ‘em an an opportunity to try out a new tactic for Unka Karl. Always nice to have him owe you a favor to two.
But

I wouldn’t worry. The last time Lieberman had the opportunity to challenge election results, he backed down. No reason to believe Lieberman’s got any more fight in him today than he did then.

Priceless!
I wish all the folks that’re going to be interviewed after this is all over would use your comment as a “talking point”, over & over & over!
Tweety: whudduya mean “short walk…?” – and off you go introducing one of the important issues of the campaign, and yet one the press hasn’t been addressing at all, up till now.
oh please…. think about it, & pass it along if you think it’d pass muster, ‘kay?
I just came back from voting and my polling place confirmed they’ve been getting a surprisingly steady stream of voters all day long. Considering this is a work day, that is clearly a sign there’s a big turnout. I imagine those polls are going to get even busier now as people get out of work.
CHS, my guess is that most of the GOP is “going to school” off Joezoe.
They are going to
make Rumsfeld the sacrificial lambcall for Rumsfeld’s resignation and demand some date certain drawdowns of troops. They absolutely do not want

Now, if they’d just used steel tubes instead of PVC, they could clean them out with Draino.
Speaking of tubes, and completely OT, apparently, the big oil pipeline from Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay field to the continental U.S. is going to be down for maintenance, possibly all summer according to a local TV station. What’s that going to do to gas prices in late summer/early fall? I think I can guess …

so Joe is having a big Rally at 5pm during voting hours on Election Day? Are they totally insane? Taking folk off the campaign trail? FUCKING CRAZY! You never ever start your Victory Party until the polls close
Unless of course you know your buddies at Rove and Co are planning a last minute DIEBOLD SWITCHAROO. A Lieberman loss is NOT something the Repugs will tolerate. Expect anything and everything folks.

Nice *ilson. Nice.
I’m friends with a CT couple.
She’s Dem, he’s Repub.
Yesterday she said he reregistered as Independant so he could vote for Lieberman.
Deceptive but illegal?
Cujo–I guess they’ll start searching for oil in ANWR now. We just had 7 cords of wood delivered–price is up about 20% from last year!!
Hello from Pikeville, KY. Just unloaded another huge compressor at a location south of Hazard, KY down some little golf cart path and a hard right through the location cattle guard that one would have to jacknife a motorcycle to get through.
They said it couldn’t be done with my long trailer and two axle booster. I said get outta my way and feel free to take notes. No problem at all.
What does this have to do wih Ned v Joe? Application versus theory. Push goddammit!!
Wow, I got a response from a human at NECN already:
I just got an auto-response from CNN, of course.
I’m back.
Did I miss anything?
John Casper at 223: I completely agree. Hubby and I were talking about this last night (he does a great Rummy dialogue with himself…painful to listen to but very funny). The rethugs are nothing but ruthless. They realize that Rummy’s at the end of his delusional usefulness…got to have cover though.

ifthethunderdontgetya @ 242
Ah, another uneventful day.
This just in: Lamont ties Lieberman’s tubes, website hack alleged and parroted by MSM. Coming up next – Lamont bugs the hell out of Lieberman, listening device found in Joe’s pocket!
Kos, in one of his updates, pointed out that
meetned.com
which has the same IP # and is on the same server as joe2006.com, is up and running. I just visited, it’s a slam Ned site sponsored by Friends of Joe.
So his Ned-Bashing site on the same server is up and running while joe2006.com has a message now that says “this account is under construction”.
The Lieberman campaign claims of hacking are complete crap.
John Casper @ 1:52 pm (#232) – I think some folks who are close to the Lamont campaign are reading all this. There are many good comments in these last few threads, but I think “you get what you pay for” pretty much covers it all. Pay $15/month for a website that’s going to be assaulted by someone at some point (hey, anyone with any experience on the Internet knew that was coming) and that would probably have all sorts of demands placed on it in short periods of time and you’re going to have a website that’s not even worth $15 a month. Ask your idiot nephew (or a campaign staffer’s idiot nephew) to be the system administrator, and you’re going to get what you paid for.
I don’t know who’s at the bottom of this, although checking out Dewey Square Group might not be a bad idea, but this is looking like either gross incompetence or a setup. I really can’t see any other explanation at this point.
ratfuck.
I can say it, I really can.
