I have to say, track meets have some of the dullest moments a child should ever be forced to endure.

Some sportswriter, maybe a famous one, said, “the only thing more boring than “track” is “field.”

At least with Cricket you get chirping. I’m going to vote for curling, although having been drug to a slew of sports as a kid – I have to say, track meets have some of the dullest moments a child should ever be forced to endure..

I LOVE baseball. Scratching and spitting and all. But “in the park” is completely different from “at home.” Baseball in the park is all the best parts of everything. Where else do you spend your time handling money, beer and stuff for complete strangers (and relying on them for your stuff too), and yet it almost always works out perfect.

I also used to judge low level dressage, and have been told that Training level tests are the most boring of all horse activities, ever. I refuse to believe it – despite some pretty good evidence it may be true.

Matt below – really good piece.

k, i know i’m going to have to turn in my credentials of blogging snarkmeister first class for asking this, but what exactly does the mis-spelling of “the” (eg, “teh,” as in “teh funny”) indicate?

i’m unclear. in fact, i’m opaque.

I suppose I’m the only one that is hoping for a close enough vote on Tuesday that Lamont wins and Lieberputz decides to run as an Independent. Perhaps it’s only for my own amusement, which, yeah, that’s kind of bad. Sort of like Rapture-ists hoping for the End of Days to hurry up and come.

But, let’s assume it does shake out that way. All those beltway Dems that stood by Lieberman are going to have to either pull a 180 and speak out against their erstwhile friend, or they are going to have to explain themselves to the rest of the Party, how they could put loyalty to an Independent over the rightfully elected representative of the voice of the people of Connecticut.

It’s an interesting predicament, is it not?

We can probably guess that the hardcore moderates (what an oxymoron, eh?) like Marshal Whitman will whine aloud and try to undercut Lamont if only to protect themselves. The rest of the Dems, though, people with a better sense of long-term self-preservation, like Clinton and Biden and Dodd, will probably offer to campaign for Lamont, while not speaking out too harshly against Lieberman.

It’s the rest of the Party, though, the ones that come out and both support Lamont AND harshly critique the Independent Lieberman run that I am waiting to see. Who has waited to see how this will shake out, and will come to Lamont’s rescue, aligning themselves with the real base of the Party? That’s the question. We already have some wonderful people like Maxine that we know about. Who else will get off the fence?
