i think that triumphalism, while understandable, is premature. stow it til weds.

or don’t you remember what it felt like in nov. 2004, with all the surveys tracking for kerry, including the exit polls, right up until ohio went red?
you want to feel as let down as the day after election day 2004? didn’t think so. if not, do the work. GOTV.

That’s truly amusing. If Joe’s strategy has really become to heckle Ned until he’s thrown off his game, they are way out of touch.

This guy spends his days teaching in an inner city high school - and they think it’ll be easy to get a rise out of him? He’s been tempered by the best experts in the business.

Shabbos starts at sundown on Friday and extends until sundown on Saturday. That specific time depends on where you live, and most Orthodox I know have calendars that tell them what that time is. My Orthodox friend refers to this as “candle-lighting” time - when the candles are lit for the Shabbos meal. All the cooking for that meal, and for the remaining meals in this period are cooked prior to Shabbos - there is no cooking during this time.

Shabbos is about more than praying, although synagogue is a part it. There is no “work” done on the Sabbath - and that includes things like turning lights on and off, as well as pushing a stroller - and one does not ride in any motorized transportation. There are exceptions for things like health - clearly one could go to the hospital in an ambulance. Some Orthodox have Gentile friends who will come over and turn lights on and off for them, which apparently is okay.

My Orthodox friends tell me that Shabbos is meant to be a time for reflection, for family and for being in the moment, free from the distractions of every day life.

Which doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

Marlie @ 168

I believe it’s called Shabbat, not that I knew,
just googled it. I remember Joe being
unavailable on Saturdays in the past so I was
suprised to see he was out campaigning today.
Hypocristy knows no bounds. Maybe others were
campaigning in his behalf not Joe personally,
don’t know for sure. I just remember thinking
this morning, Joe lost today regarding campaign
days left.

Hmmm. My business partner is Jewish and the head (President) of his temple. He thinks Orthodox Jews are lunatic fringe. JoeMo is Orthodox???
