Sorry to come to the party late. I’ve been photographing Charlie Brown at several events in northern California, including his primary night victory celebrations:

http://www.flipperty.smugmug.com/Political Events

Probably too late to be noticed by many, but what the heck.

While Charlie Brown’s credentials seem impressive, nowhere was I able to locate in the above comments, unless I missed it, Brown’s stand on what should be the most important issue of the day and that is withdrawal. What makes this strange is that he has a son who is in the military and has been to Iraq. Is this candidate for staying the course [or, more appropriately, for staying and dying] or is he actually in favor of withdrawal? Does he wish the troops to be out in a year’s time, during which time hundreds of Americans could wind up very dead and hundreds more returning to this country grievously wounded or does he favor that those troops be withdrawn as rapidly and as quickly as possible? I saw that someone had directed the question of withdrawal to him but I did not see where Brown actually answered the question. The hot button issue of the day which Mister Charlie Brown amazingly chose to ignore.

I found this video of Auburn on You Tube. Someone put it together for their father. It has photos of the trails along the American River. I have hiked these and they are close to my home.
If Doolittle has his way with the Auburn Dam, all that you see here will be under water.
They did this to country music, so if is too much, turn the sound down and think of the sound of the river.

I’ve had the pleasure to meet Charlie as he’s been traveling this district, and I’m very happy to report that he’s exactly the kind of person we need in the United States Congress. His views on universal health care; getting the United States out of Iraq, a woman’s right to choose, energy policy, the environment etc; etc. etc. are progressive and enlightened.

And Charlie is also the kind of candidate who can win in this ordinarily Republican leaning district. A smart, dedicated, straight talking, “regular guy” who’s Air Force background and experience in the original Gulf War lends his voice against the current war particular weight.

Compare Charlie against the man he’s challenging, John Doolittle, a virtual poster boy for everything that is sick about American democracy in the Abramoff/Rubber Stamp era: the corruption, the entrenched special interests, the tainted money, lack of accountability, lack of leadership, etc; and you can see why Charlie is soooo deserving of our best wishes and (don’t forget) our financial support.

Go, Charlie!

from the NYT:

Mr. Gerstein complained that for all the reasoned arguments by some bloggers, too many resort to crude humor and angry diatribes that “don’t pass the maturity test.”

“Too much of what passes for political commentary in the blogosphere is pretty juvenile and petulant, and that’s not the way you persuade people,” he said. “If the blogging community is going to have a real impact, they’re going to have to have a reckoning soon about their place in the real political world, because in that world there’s a caricature of them as being dominated by crazies.”

Ho-hum, dominated by crazies. Another late night at Mack Folsom Prison in SoMa?

Gerstein is SUCH a tool. Nice photo in The Times, Jane. It’s especially pretty in contrast with the across-the-screen Dowd visage.

=================
Had Enough, Connecticut?

Ca4 Idepfor Brown…1:56pm

The Auburn Dam is also about political pork.

I lived all my formative years just below Folsom Dam and Nimbus. Building these dams on earthquake prone territory, and so close to the San Andraes fault makes no sense to me whatsoever. Living and working in Placer County taught me nothing if not that it is loaded with right-wing reactionaries. Doolitle is a crook, and I dearly hope one day to read of his incarceration. Sure hope Brown carries the day!

As for sprawling development in the foothills and the flood-plain that is the Sacto Valley? That was one of the primary considerations in my choosing to leave the area. Too many cars, too many people and too much smog. And because of all this, you can’t see the stars at night anymore.

And if you have an Office Depot or Staples account, just have them deliver it to Charlie Brown’s. No delivery charge when order is more than $50 at Office Depot.

We’re an internet site for dog gifts and supplies and we get all our mailing supplies from Uline. They have warehouses around the country, so shipping isn’t too steep. www.uline.com
