Looks like the Joe Lieberman Bus to Nowhere is working from a new map today:
"I supported our war in Iraq but I have always questioned the way it was being executed," Lieberman said.
"This administration took far too many shortcuts. We continue to suffer the consequences, as do the Iraqi people."
Always questioned the way it was being executed? Oh…really?!? Let’s go to the film, shall we?
Here’s a YouTube of Joe Lieberman leading off for the Republican argument in the Senate on the latest attempt to rein in the mess that is Iraq at the hands of George Bush. Watch here to see Lieberman start the debate for the Republicans.
Here’s Joe Lieberman at the beginning of the Iraq mess, and he can’t get to the microphone fast enough to praise George Bush’s eloquence.
And here’s Joe Lieberman, in response to Rep. Jack Murtha’s call for a withdrawal of troops. (Hint: Before the primary got close, Lieberman wasn’t supportive.)
There is always the ever popular STFU Democrats — don’t criticize the President, ever, or you put us all at risk. Can you say final straw?
Lieberman, and his attack chicken Attila the Hen, may have convinced some journalists at the NYTimes and the NYDailyNews that he’s been thinking this about the Iraq mess for a while, but the tape doesn’t lie. This new attitude is for one reason alone: Lieberman wants to win the primary, and he’s willing to say anything to get there.
But I do not trust for one minute that he means this, and that he wouldn’t go right back to stabbing Democrats in the back on this and other issues, because this has not been a true, principled conversion, as we saw with Jack Murtha, who put his own credibility and election on the line taking the stance that he did – this is a decision of political expediency, made in the heat of a primary where the majority of voters of all parties in CT have not supported Joe Lieberman’s stance on Iraq for YEARS. And where Joe Lieberman has been dismissive and peevish about any and all statements made against President Bush’s failed policies…over and over and over.
Joe Lieberman has stood up for President Bush time and time again, standing with the Republicans whenever they’ve needed political cover and a false veneer of bi-partisanship. That Lieberman’s ego has been so big that he hasn’t realized how much they are using him as their turncoat poster boy – or that he really believes in the GOP line and is masquerading as a Democrat because he lives in a Blue state — I’m not ready to say. But the bottom line, whatever his rationale, is that Joe Lieberman keeps being the skunk at the Democratic party.
Have you forgotten? I sure haven’t. Too little, too late…too desperate.
(The initial YouTube is from climbingtheladder. Music: Avril Lavigne – "Forgotten." I’m not generally a Lavigne fan, being past that teenage angst stage and all, but I thought this video was put together quite well and it truly hits the high lowlights of the phenomenon we call "Joe-nertia.")

Christy!
Nedrenaline!
Connecticut Bloggers surely know what they like. I am not going to link my post, you can read if you want. I admire what you are doing and will be there Saturday.
GREAT post Christy….
HoJo is really stinkin up da place. I hope Ned has some really gret responses for HoJo on pumpkinheads show Sun.
at 6pm in Baghdad, it’s 108ºF — but it’s dry heat unlike Viet-Nam !
As the song goes:
“Too much too little too late to try again with you…”
Goper’s Lament
“a false veneer of bi-partisanship” says so much. Veneer is great for making a piece of furniture look nice, but if you’re depending on it for providing strength and support, I’m going to look for another furniture maker.
You can’t build a strong democracy with Lieberman-covered particle board.
Peterr at 7 — HAHAHAHAHA “Lieberman-covered particle board” — I am SO using that. That one made me laugh out loud this morning.
Christy @ 8 – Just returning the favor!
Now gotta put vanilla ice cream on the shopping list for those Coffee Ice Cream Floats this afternoon . . .
*ilson46201 @ 5
Don’t forget Poland! It’s 79ºF in Warsaw, but it feels like 77ºF.
Lieberman’s agenda is Israel’s agenda. Look how that’s turning out.
Peterr at 9 — I’m coming over to your house. Coffee ice cream float sounds awfully yummy… :P
Christy – one small change to make above: “Here’s a YouTube of Joe Lieberman leading off for the Republican argument in the Senate on the latest attempt to
reignrein in the mess that is Iraq at the hands of George Bush.”Christy — damn great lineup of incriminating vids. A million thanks.
PJ Media? Malkin, Coulter, Jonah?
Hideous wasted fossils.
Rabid Lambs?
You know it!
FDL IS ON THE CREST OF THE WAVE.
MARK MY FUCKING WORDS.
“Lieberman, and his attack chicken Attila the Hen”
bwahahaha
Do y’all watching CSPAN join me in wishing that The Venerable Warner would learn how to say “Gen. Abizod” and “Izrul,” and The Despicable Rumsfeld, “Hezballa”? Ooops, Warner just threw in “Gen. Sharelli” for good measure.
Stephen Parrish, CPA @ 13
I didn’t take that as a typo – I took it as a correct statement of fact. The repubs are trying to rule, in the midst of the mess that is Dubya’s Iraq.
I’m king, declared Dubya, of all that I see, but I don’t see enough – that’s the trouble with me . . .
OT, but I wanted to direct everyone to an op ed by Sidney Blumenthal @ Salon – the reality of the neocon mideast policy – scary shit.
lotus – i think they are talking as slow as possible to make it as boring as possible so any press that’s there falls asleep. Oh wait, the press has been asleep for years… never mind.
Okay, this is really starting to tick me off.
It’s talk and it’s bullshit. If there’s a line Joe Lieberman would have to cross over by his actions, if there’s something he could do that would actually endanger his own political life, you can count on him only talking his way up to that line. He’ll only get right up on the line to defend himself from attack – never to take up the causes and issues that affect others when it is not popular to do so, and only when others have cleared the way for him to do it “safely.” Joe will never ante up if the price is his to pay. That makes him an utter and total poseur.
Hope the video bites him hard, and often.
Blumenthal in Salon
EPU’ed, but equally relevant here — Joe is still undercutting the Dems:
With today’s statement, Joe has tried to move from the “Iraq is going great” position to the “Iraq was mishandled, but it was still right to go” position. Even if it was credible, it still wouldn’t do him any good, because he’s about a year behind most Americans and a larger majority of Nutmeggers, who have long since moved on to “the war was a mistake.”
So he looks weak for trying to shift his position, but doesn’t shift it enough to please voters — more brilliant campaigning from the hapless short bus!
(And did’ja notice he got in one last undercutting of fellow Democrats on the war yesterday? In response to the Dem leadership letter calling for a plan for a troop pullout, he said he “hopes” for a withdrawal but does not favor a timetable,” which just happens to be the GOP position.)
*ilson46201 @

Which basically means there are very few trees, that is shade. Or water.
3 years and counting that those people haven’t had normal 24 hour electricity (it is instructive to read Riverbend at Baghdad Burning as to what life was like there before the war as long as you kept your mouth shut about Saddam) — which means no air conditioning, difficult refrigeration etc. Lucky people who haven’t been driven from their homes due to the civil war (sectarian strife) can get generators, but even gas isn’t always easy to come by.
I mention all this because I would like someone to ask Joe if this is what the “deal” was when he agreed to become Bush’s shill!
Stephen at 13 — Oh, thanks! That’s what I get for working on one cuppa coffee, with a phone sprouting out of my ear and a three-year-old paiting the house with bubbles. *G* Really appreciate the heads up — that was so obvious, I can’t believe I missed it. (LOL at myself!)
Please look at this:
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2….._0803.html
I admire your restraint, Christy. As I read your assemblage of Lieberman’s cheerleading for this catastrophe and my blood boils.
Good Morning Christy. I trust today will be a better day for you. I am so looking forward to this weekend and watching LIEberman implode. Is this gonna be great or what? Go Ned!
Yeah, I think Joe doesn’t realize that many democrats just see him as another Zell Miller in the making.
Christy and Peterr – if you all have a Panera Bread near you, they make some cold coffee drinks that are to die for: I.C. Mocha and I.C. Cappuccino Chip will cool you and charge you at the same time.
Christy – you can probably make a non-fat version with Kool-Whip and Splenda, but I don’t know if there’s an acceptable substitute for the chocolate part.
He was for it before he was against it.
*snark*
The other point about the latest Lieberman line — even if it were true that he’s “questioned” the war (which it obviously isn’t), the real issue is what has he done about it? You’re a frickin’ senator, Joe! If your “questioning” hasn’t been followed up by any action, you can just as well do it from outside the Senate!
A challenger has positions; an incumbent has a record.
A challenger has…

First thought that came to my mind with the above news Stephen Parrish, is did the US feed the Israelis the intelligence that led to the horrible bombing in Qana?
Now, if I had that thought, you can believe that it will be all over the Arab street that the US set Israel up to do it on purpose. Because they will say — the US satellites see everything — there would not excuse for a “smart bomb” to miss.
Which is why the only way that the US will every gain any semblence of credibility in the world will be to just clean the slate clean in DC, starting with Congress this year and moving on to the WH in ‘08.
Christy – Peterr has expressed a very good point in his 7:23 am comment. (But then again, who would want to reign (in the sense of ruling it or presiding over it) in that mess?) Even reining it in will be a formidable challenge.
Anne @ 29
But homemade is soooo much better, and the only charge comes from the beverage, not the person behind the counter.
Wilson – I didn’t see your 7:25 comment when I was in the middle of typing my 7:27 comment.
Anne @ 29
Substitute chocolate? NEVER *g*
What fabulous news to start the day.
And take heart, those in CT and points south, the cooler weather is on your way. It blew in yesterday afternoon from Canada and is heading down the east coast. Must have dropped 25 degrees – at least it felt like it – in an hour.
I saw Ned speak for the first time on Colbert the other night. He comes across as so straightforward, so earnest. No veneer. How refreshing, just like this weather. No wonder he’s doing well in the polls. People are sick of posturing, of doublespeak. Poor Joe just doesn’t get it. He really believes in the Bush model of government: lies are (a kind of) truth.
Joe, it’s Alito, stupid!
CSPAN – McCain equates current US military operations in Iraq to a game of Whack-a-mole
carolyn urban @ 38
Carolyn, that is sweet sweet news. It is unberable here in NYC!
Christy — SSSSssssssssssiizzle!
On CSPAN, Levin just mentioned UK Amb.-to-Iraq Patey’s secret memo. From ToL:
UK envoy’s secret memo paints bleak picture of Iraq’s future
Corzine is on WNYC and was asked about the CT race. Said he “would support Joe” but thinks Joe should learn to be more flexible. Being very cagey and says it is really up to CT voters to respond to issues as they see it etc. Trying to minimize it to a local race.
Andrew Sullivan came out against the prosecution of the war a while back, while trying to retain his republican credibility. He’s got a post up today on Lieberman with a great line: “Lieberman has been ridiculously obsequious to a Republican president who has made an appalling hash of a vital war.”
I don’t agree with the characterization of the war as “vital,” but I love his characterization of Joe. I suppose that being “obsequious” wasn’t enough for Joe – he’s got to be “ridiculously obsequious.”
McCain is nailing Pace and Abizaid.
I hope that the citizens of Connecticut will see through Joe’s cheap act.
It truly is appalling, Could his sliminess be anymore transparent?
I just want to say that I spent an hour and a half this morning diving through tape after tape of Lieberman speaking. I deserve a medal or something for not falling asleep…
McCain speaking to Rumsfeld with his eyes darting everywhere BUT to Rumsfeld’s.
Christy – I think the medal you get might be for not throwing things at the screen. That whine of his just sets my teeth on edge.
Damn Christy! That is one commendable feat. I don’t know that I’d wish that on my worst enemy!!!
Good work Christy — you are a better woman than I! Sen. Lieberman’s voice gives me the heebeejeebies. If I had listened through that much tape, my head would have asploded.
Christy — listening to LieberWhine for the good of reporting is like a research doctor injecting herself with a trial vaccine to see if it can save lives. Professionals all too often take awful risks !
St. Christy.
Medal Delivery to Christy
(Ick and double Ick Liebervoice)
WE want St. Christy medals to protect us from bonehead goopers!
So Short Ride thinks he can put out a little press release and call it a day? Put the groveling in overdrive and expect everyone to rush to the polls to vote for this miserable excuse? This really is the worst hypocritical pandering imagineable. Where were you when thousands and thousands of people were being killed, wounded, displaced, raped, violated, insulted, and fucking robbed? And it continues, day after day after day. If people can’t see this for the transparent BS that it is, then we just took a really, really painful step backwards.
Christy @ 47
You are so much braver than I. My hope is that his WATB voice hasn’t permanently affected you.
Just posted on wrong thread.
Brian Lehrer on WNYC interviewing Diane Farrell runnig against Shays. live stream at http://www.wnyc.org/shows/bl/episodes/2006/08/03.
A St. Christy medal. I like that idea.
O.K. Here in CT I am so excited my heart is pounding. When people said things would heat up for the primary, I didn’t expect VIPS, 103 degree weather and Colbert. Thanks guys for supporting the little guy and please come to CT if you can. You can help us fend off the Lieberyouth that have no qualms about shoving girls, stealing signs and what not.
Help is needed – and offered
by the Master —, through Benjamin Creme, 16 July 2006
It will soon become clear that without help men have but little time to rectify the problems, ecological, political and economic which cause chaos, danger and heartache to the majority of Earth’s people. It is a situation unique in Earth’s history. Much depends on men realizing that they have, as custodians, the responsibility to tend carefully the well-being of the planet and all its kingdoms, and to pass on a vibrant, healthy planetary home to future generations. So unhealthy has the planet become from man’s predatory action and cavalier neglect, that, were it human, grave doubts of its recovery would be in order. The home of man and the lower kingdoms must be nursed back to health to fulfill its role in the evolving Plan.
Chaos reigns, likewise, in the political sphere. The nations are led by groups dedicated to the past, unable to see that their methods apply no longer to the needs of today and tomorrow. Blindfolded and arrogant, they strut the stage of life like out-of-date actors, unsure of their direction or their lines. The door marked EXIT looms large for these destructive usurpers of power.
Saddest
The economic and social spheres are the saddest of all. While the world’s wealth flows into fewer and fewer hands, countless millions beg for the minimum to survive. Millions are too weak to beg, and die, forlorn, before they have tasted life. What can men do to rectify these sad and dangerous conditions? To whom can they turn for help in their agony?
There is but one source of help for men in their extreme need. That help is theirs for the asking. We, your Elder Brothers, seek only your welfare and happiness, and are ready to aid you and to point the way to a better future for all.
We see all men as One, brothers and sisters of one great family. Men need, likewise, to banish from their hearts the sense of separation, and to rediscover the reality of brotherhood which lies at the heart of the human condition. Men, all men, are potential Gods and needs must create the conditions in which they all can flourish. We will help you to do this, gladly, when you take the first small step in that direction. That first step is not difficult nor fraught with risk. You have nothing to lose and your divinity to gain: that first step is called Sharing.
(The above article will be published in the September 2006 issue of Share International magazine.)
Joe has about as much chance of convincing me he is capable of opposing Bush as Lieberace would of convincing me he wasn’t flamboyant.
OT but I am watching this race. Freakin arsehole.
KIRTLAND HILLS, Ohio (AP) — President Bush, whose own popularity is just so-so, put the weight of his office behind the struggling candidacy of conservative Kenneth Blackwell, helping raise $1.5 million Wednesday for the Republican’s campaign for governor.

Diane is speaking out strongly against the war, should play very well for Lamont.
The contrast between Lieberman and Murtha is huge. Murtha made no bones about changing his views. Paraphrasing here, Murtha said “I started out supporting this war, but now I can no longer do so. Indeed, I must forcefully come out in opposition.” Lieberman’s version? “I have always questioned the way [the war] was being executed.”
Two words for Joe: “Oh, please . . .”
I’ve never been a Lieberman fan but, even though his words were somewhat noncommittal, at the time, that photo op alone was enough for me to drop support for Dick Gephart as well.
selfishly and gratuitously OT – any techs in the house? My RTSP keeps timing out after just a couple of minutes. I can’t seem to figure it out. Any pointers out there?
Judas Joe needs to deny Jesus W. Bush twice more before he earns his thirty pieces of silver.
Sadly for him, three bucks worth of dimes will only buy a few minutes of a campaign worker. But it’d still be fun to watch J. Joe “pivot,” as they say in politics.
Medals for Christy!
Joezoe is criticizing the President during a time of war.
Joezoe criticized Ned for flipflopping on the War/Occupation, look whose flipping now.
What *ilson said above, every vote counts, Joezoe needs to keep the primary close to run as an independent.
meta – it’s bad enough that we’re already standing on the edge of the abyss. the difference, as I see it, is that some of us are looking into it – seeing it for what it is – and desperately wanting to take a step back, while others, like Lieberman and Bush, et. al., are on that same edge, but facing away, in denial about what is right there. Their backward steps will send the whole thing headlong over the edge.
OT, sorta . . .
Steve Clemons has a thought-provoking piece, claiming that Harry Reid is looking to step down as the democratic leader of the Senate in 2009, and has been “signalling” Hillary that he’d offer her his total support to succeed him, if she sets aside any thoughts of a presidential run. It’s sourced to “high level Democratic political insiders,” all unnamed. In an update, Steve says that Reid’s office called to say that Reid denies this “in the strongest possible sense,” but Steve’s standing by his sources.
Interesting . . .
Israel is receiving intelligence from the US’s National Security Agency? Now the steam is really blasting out of my ears.
Mary? Any idea what in the world could be going wrong here?
Christy, what an incredible feat! I know I couldn’t do it, Lieberman annoys me entirely too much.
And on the weather front, here in Southern NH there’s a cool(ish) breeze blowing through. I hope this is heading towards Jane and the others down in the southern states.

This is actually nothing new. We have been sharing intelligence with Israel for years. It’s a two way street.
Bustednuckles @ 63
That’s one hand washing the other, given Blackwell’s key role in stealing Ohio for the shrub in 2004.
OT but only sort of . . . oh and I hear the Lieberman campaign is leaving messages on potential voters’ machines trying to make it sound like it comes from Lamont. I don’t know if that and the parking lot flyers show you what CT is up against, but . . .
Peterr, agree that it bears watching. SC some time back made a big deal about Fitz leasing office space for a massive Plamegate inquiry that turned out not to be so.
Would be huge if true, though. And Reid’s office would have to issue a denial as a matter of form. So I’m stayin’ tuned right with ya!
Anne – thank you for taking my frustration and putting it all so eloquently. I just don’t know what I would do without all of you here. I really mean that. Friends and family 24/7.

Bill, my spider-senses are tingling, I sense a Darkblack graphic coming.
I’ve been away from my computer since the day before yesterday and missed all the excitement about Jame’s HuffPo graphics.
I haven’t the time today to go back and catch up on the posts/threads I missed.
I found out about it b/c it’s in “the Note” which tells me the Joe is going to try to milk this for at least one more cycle.
How many times have I heard people on this blog wonder if they , and the blogoshpere are really having any effect?
Well if an incumbent US Senator in the fight of his life is spending all his time directly responding, not to his opponents message, but to our messages, and
If an incumbent Senator in the fight of his life has shifted course from attcking his opponent to attacking Jane,
that tells me that we have woefully UNDERESTIMATED the power and impact of what we are doing here.
It’s like Dorothy and the ruby slippers. She knew they had SOME power, b/c the Wicked Witch wanted them. She knew they were useful for walking. But through out the entire movie SHE IS COMPLETELY CLUELESS AMOUNT THE TREMENDOUS POWER RIGHT UNDER HER FEET.
Nor, did she understand how to use that power.
We are at the front edge of something. We have an obligation to start to think about how to use that power both effectively and responsibly.
Jnae,
i don’t know if there is any backstory to al this. But if you ee anything, I will be in the office after about 12 noon today, yo can give me a call if there is any assitance you need.
Take it as a compliment that they fear you enough to try to destroy you.
Lieberman can say whatever he likes. The Bush kiss is the powerful image. My best friend says it reminds him of a consigliere embrace, with Bush as the “don”. Lieberman has allowed himself to be used, thinking it made him more powerful. It has only made him look characterless, not conciliatory.
al-Scooter -
SC is pretty good at noting what is speculation, what the limits of his sources are, and when others contradict his sources. Is he always right? No, but then again, he’s willing to say that.
Joe could learn a lot from him in that respect.
Meanwhile, we’ll keep watching.

Christy, that’s a great post! Thank you for listening to Holy Joe, so we wouldn’t have to.

powerful comment, lhp
but how’s Baby Mittens doing?
Peterr @ 71
I woud love that. Hillary would be a great majority leader (I’m an optimist). Colleagues on both sides of the aisle get along with her. She raised shitloads of $ for other candidates, so they would owe her and be inclined to follow her lead. She actually is quite good at creating consensus positions.
She could be one of the Greastest Majority Leaders in history. Look out Henry Clay

Busted, I guess the part that got to me was this:
“Inside the administration, neoconservatives on Vice President Dick Cheney’s national security staff and Elliott Abrams, the neoconservative senior director for the Near East on the National Security Council, are prime movers behind sharing NSA intelligence with Israel, and they have discussed Syrian and Iranian supply activities as a potential pretext for Israeli bombing of both countries, the source privy to conversations about the program says. (Intelligence, including that gathered by the NSA, has been provided to Israel in the past for various purposes.) The neoconservatives are described as enthusiastic about the possibility of using NSA intelligence as a lever to widen the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and Israel and Hamas into a four-front war.”

Peterr, that’s a metaphor I understand. It’s perfect.
I’d love to see Jane or Christy or TRex ask Joe if he still stands by his vote to confirm Attorney General Abu-Gonzales, his vote for cloture on the bankruptcy bill and his vote for cloture on Samuel Alito.
Slow Joe, blame it all on your staffers. It was never you that this campaign is about, now was it? Are they all rethugs, and didn’t tell you?
Or just go on lying. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Everybody likes that!
Peterr, agree. I like SC’s blog a lot and posted over there (under a different handle) during Bolton I. I group him with Pat Lang and Larry Johnson, insiders to the process who’re willing to share with us lay people and who want to have a positive influence on events.
Isn’t it true that playing endless loops of Joe’s speeches is a violation of the Geneva Conventions? And yet Christy took it upon herself to brave the endless whine.
I’d have been ready to confess to war crimes inside of 15 minutes.
re Sen. Lieberman’s voice and attitude — any thoughts about a float with a big wedge of Swiss, that says “How about a little CHEESE with that Whine?”
Oh, joy – Art Buchwald is back!
The legendary WaPo columnist had checked into hospice, but after six months of friends coming by to wish him farewell, he had the gall not to die. A month ago, he checked out of hospice, and now is back to writing his twice a week column.
Today’s gem: War for Dummies. Priceless.
baby Mittens was doing much betterwhen I got home last night. Was trying very hard to become a dog who walks up on all four legs instead of a rodent who crawls around with belly on the ground. that takes a lot of energy, so I saw as a VERY very postive sign.
Also there was tail wagiing and puppy laughter. She was trying to play. That’s the good news, so I guess the anti boitics have kicked in
However, the puncture wound from the day of the murder is not healing. In fact it has become about 4X bigger. We don’t know if that is because her momma is reinjuring is when she “washes” it or has some other cause. This AM my husband moved the puppy onto his office so he could keep a better eye on it during the day b/c we still don’t really trust mamma, who is still acting a little crazy.
Up until she had puppies, this was the most clever, iron willed sane dog. I hope her hormones go back to normal soon. I think baby M will be weaned a little early, so we can then seprate her from mamma.
Her daddy dog loves her and tries to play with her and all the other dogs sneak in and love her when her momma is out for a walk. So she will never lack for another dog to snuggle with
I don’t want to see Hillary run for President because I am not in agreement with her position on the Iraq war. So I’m not sure I’m psyched about her being a Senate leader, but whatever.
“something’s telling me that Ol’ Joe will pick up the nomination in the primary next week”
You obviously know something Joezoe doesn’t. He just “criticized the President during a time of war.”
Do you have any clue how desperate he is?
He’s not doing that to win the primary. He’s doing that to narrow the gap sufficiently so that his run in the general is not a joke.

apparently Senator Stevens is having trouble rounding up his doggies for the vote – see if I can find the link I read yesterday
lhp, SO SO glad to hear Mittens is regaining her health. Has the vet seen/said what might be up with that wound? (And has li’lprop yet learned of the murder?)
Lost my FDL for some minutes there. Awful. Noe I know what a crashing addict goes through.
Those war-mongering Neo-cons had better do some math but quick.
Adding Iran and Syria into the mix won’t make a four front war for US and Israel.
The US is in Iraq, Aghanistan and protecting the homeland…add in Syria and Iran and that is 5 fronts.
Hope they are recruiting some neo-con children for the next two fronts.

Brilliant.
Watching CSPAN, also, what is this?
Noticed it on the scroll. Business as usual?
(Apologies if it has already been commented on.)
Stevens Scrambling for Anti-Net Neutrality Votes
Dayton making an important point about all those funerals. The ones that BushCo never attend.

I agree, I think she would be an excellent majority leader.
And it might be sufficiently historic to satisfy her ambitions as well.
If the story is on the up and up, I hope she is considering it.
Jane,
No doubts from this fdler about your humor with regards to lieberman. he is the minstrel show and the houseboy to massah bush.
chin up.
head high.
best to you.
The neoconservatives are described as enthusiastic about the possibility of using NSA intelligence as a lever to widen the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and Israel and Hamas into a four-front war.”
Yeah, they are THAT stupid.Their military strategy comprehension is that of a mud puppy.
CT primary to be held “open”
Hmmmmm.
New thread, gang — thought you could use a fresh one for the Rummy grilling. *g*
Aha — just remembered what I “cut” before refreshing the screen that would tell me I’d just lost FDL. Here ’tis:
Really, you hafta see this Old Sow of a campaign to believe it.
Re the holding open the primary for absentee ballots, I guess the votes on primary day had better be a large enough percentage to outnumber those absentee ballots.

You have earned La Croix de Veneer for suffering through the Sultan of Smarm
“Attila the Hen.” Cute.
Per everyone’s comments, I just tried to get through to Hillary via her (202) 224-4451 (not the 800 number)number in DC. Now I’m on hold. Finally got through and told them to show Sen. Clinton the very positive comments about her questions of Rumsfeld in the Armed Services Committee on the 7:01 thread at FDL. Very pleasent/intelligent person answering the phone.
Lotus–you’ve outed me big time. LOL

I live in CT and I have heard/read that the absentee ballots of some military personnel were mailed out late and will not bereturned before the 8th (if they even get them by then) I think I read on MyLeftNutmeg that the number is about 6500 – 7000 ballots. They would only make a difference if the vote is close, which it very well may be. I’m hoping that Ned wins by so many votes that those 7000 won’t affect the race results but who knows.
What looseheadprop says at 8:05 am –
The Media — repeat, the MEDIA — are trying to Swiftboat Ned Lamont by going through Jane.
Think about it.
Swiftboating never happens in a vacuum — it’s the MEDIA that turns it into a story, by repeating the smear ad nausem. The MEDIA is the propaganda organ of the Right Wing GOP, and it is our job to stuff their lies back in their faces.
The story by Dan “Tiny” Balz is the clue. He puts on his best concern troll face, reports the story of how a NED LAMONT supporter did something that might hurt NED LAMONT, and presto!!! — a Swiftboat Smear campaign is born.
Unfortunately for them, they chose to drive their Swiftboat through Jane Hamsher. BIG MISTAKE. The only question for our team, is how and when to respond. Keep your eyes on the prize, which is electing NED LAMONT and kicking Joe Lieberman under the bus.
But on August 9th, I suspect Tiny will rue the day he took on Jane Hamsher.
John, thank you for doing that. I know I’ve been extremely harsh on Hillary. But I will be glad to be the first one to admit that I am wrong if she fights to end this debaucle – the lies, the deaths, the complete failure to make life better for Iraqi civilians, the corruption beyond our imaginations, the utter betrayal of the American public and the good people of Iraq……Hell, I would join her staff to make it happen.
Well,
Good-ish news from Quinnipiac today.
But I don’t believe for a moment that HoJo will decide against an independent run if he is thumped in Tuesday’s primary. He’ll spin up some justification for running as an independent. (I think, “All the voters of Connecticut should be allowed to decide to send me back,” is the likely meme.)
You don’t amass $10M and growing in your campaign war chest if you don’t plan to use it for something. He’s going to run as an independent, folks.
OT: Update on Cadet Countertenor in the ROK
He’s been there 2 1/2 weeks, and still has not started a war on the Korean Peninsula.
The heat is pretty merciless. One of his troops passed out from heat exhaustion early Monday morning. They hauled the trooper into the shade and got him cooled down. Cdt CT asked what he’d had to drink Sunday. “Oh, four or five beers …” Cdt CT told the trooper that proper hydration was important, and that alcohol is a diuretic (I didn’t know he knew that word) … about that point, the platoon sergeant showed up and said, “I’ve got this sir …” Cdt CT excused himself, but caught a part of the ass-chewing. He said the sergeant was definitely fluent in ass-chewing.
He’s had a couple of helicopter rides and says he wants to fly Blackhawks or Kiowas (scouts). He doesn’t want to fly Chinooks (booooring) nor Apache (like being packed in a sardine can). He’s a big kid (6′5″, 195), and those Apache cockpits are pretty small.
He outprocesses to return home next Monday (our Monday, not his.) Our 16 y.o. Persian can’t wait for him to get back and take his siamese-cross kitten away. (I call her al-Zarkitty, b/c she’s terrorized our Persian and our Belgian Shepherd, but I think her name is Xenon, because she’s strange…)

Joey LIeberschmuck’s demise gives me hope for this nation and this world This dour, entitled jerk is going down and he’s being defeated by a novice. Yes!
A desperate Lieberman:
Al-zar-kitty LOL
relative of Weird Al Kaida?
Long time reader, first time poster…..
I just had a run in with Lieberman. Couldn’t get through to firedoglake, so I posted my first blog at Kos:

Whoops! Sorry, got my numbers wrong re:the possible vote count delay, but- don’t let the boss see you @132 got it right and first.
Damn dyslexia! I constantly mess up phone numbers too. I’m talking to anyone I can get to listen about Ned, what he’s for and why they should vote for him (neighbors, co-workers, people walking their dogs past my Lamont yard sign) I hope it helps. Again sorry for the misinformation.
Hmmm, yesterday at the Joe tour stop in Newtown, Connecticut I was there to protest and the sign I brought said: “THE WAR IS A LIE, AND YOU KNOW IT” I’m thrilled to wonder if my sign made him think a bit…
djomin @ 147
Love your blog!
I too am wishing this over but I listen to a caller if he/she is calling for Lamont. I love saying “I’ll be in a coma or ashes if I don’t make it to the polls on 08/08″!
I was a respondent in the latest Q poll & have been waiting for it! Thanks to FDL it was the 1st account of it!
YEY FDLakers! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
I know this is EPU’ed, but I was so cheered to hear Gephardt’s extinct voice praising Bush, knowing that Liebersmeg will join him shortly in the oblivion of losers.
Hmm, Joe seems to have forgotten, as have a lot of those who thrust themselves feverishly on the seemingly unstoppable Pipsqueak’s warmongering machine (and rushed to the front to stand with Squeak), that you have to pay the piper some time… Every choice has consequence, and the media seems only to have made ONE calculus around the War – and that was to wag the finger at those who were/are against the war… And now the chickenhawks are coming home to roost, and those who supported this stupid misguided adventurism in Iraq may only now begin to realize that there was/is a consequence in it for them too. And still that price is less than has been paid by the dead and wounded. Joementum should count his blessings and fold. And least when he loses this “battle” he still lives the good life, well, he’s alive, anyway, God Bless him.
