I’ve being seeing it in bookstores for months and it finally called me to pick it up. A gorgeous story that spans the period from the end of the Afghan monarchy in ‘73 through the Soviet invasion and then the Taliban regime. It explores the relationship between father and son, the boundaries of friendship, and whether redemption is ever possible. (Did that in my apartment building in Philly with an elderly couple a time or two — they had diabetes, so I made it with Crystal Light and a sliced lemon, and it was very well received.
